Ambitious conclusion to the Nexus series, will not disappoint By Elizabeth Aoki First off, if you are just coming to Nexus - do NOT start with this book. It means much more, and the scope of the ending more amazing, when you start from the beginning book Nexus, read the second Crux, and devour this one. This review is written from reading a beta copy of the book.Second, for those who have been waiting for this book - it will not disappoint. Ramez Naam takes on the implications of the Nexus drug from micro to macro in all the books, but in the third he really shows you what macro means. The political and technological ripples continue outward. There are dark places and dark moments those ripples bring humanity to. The growth in Naam's writing style throughout the series is evident and he needs it, because this is a more ambitious, complex book than the other two.Third, it's really hard for me to review this book without reaching for spoilers. I will leave it at this - Naam is pretty evil to his characters but for humanity, he is an optimist (as you would see from his nonfiction books as well). The ending is earned, and definitely satisfies.

Weaver Reading this book was like getting sucked through a dark water slide at a gut-wrenching pace--I would literally go to work and catch myself thinking about the story and what was going on with the characters. Naam accomplishes something many sci-fi authors don't: his writing packs in relevant futurist and technical details and light-handed political commentary while sucking the reader through a suspenseful, engaging, can't peel-you-eyes-off-it plot. The characters and plot can be disorientating, with some challenging ethical concepts woven in. This book is, amazingly, great for both those who want a thoughtful (and highly informed!) vision of the future and those who want an invigorating story.

8 of 8 people found the following review helpful. Great conclusion to an excellent trilogy. By Marcos I only read Nexus and Crux recently (earlier this year), and was thrilled to see I had only to wait until May for the third and final book in the series. Start with Nexus, and read the entire trilogy. It's full of philosophy, hacking, action - but above all it is extremely thought provoking. The perils and promise of what the "nano-drug" Nexus and associated inter-connectivity would mean. The final book did not disappoint - raising the stakes, building suspense - I stayed up until 1AM to finish it. So glad I found this series.

In spite of Oneida's heroic stand against the Chinese steam roller, foreign armies are poised along the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains preparing for the final assault and America's inevitable defeat. For John, turning back the tide will mean going deep behind enemy lines and organizing the very insurgency he fought so hard against in Iraq. But more than that, it'll mean coming to terms with the brutality of war and the realization that sometimes the deepest scars are the ones that can’t be seen.

The characters are people you can care about and that isn't the case in all novels. It shows the hardships of living without the conveniences we take for granted. A community of people coming together for a common cause may be one of the most important things needed in any severe disaster as this series shows. Taking back the country from our enemies who were all over the place would not be easy and would require taking dangerous actions. Mr. Weber keeps the tension up and believablesituations. However, I do wish the series would continue, showing how people made it through the next few years. Congratulations to theauthor.

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Two thumbs up for one kick ass read. By claudette valliere Another great read by Weber. Spoiler alert for those who don't want to know what the books about. This one starts with Colonel John Mack, a veteran of the Iraq war, in Oneida. An Oneida that survived the battle with the Chinese. The Chinese who withdrew after suffering heavy casualties. Oneida is loaded with burned out vehicles and debris but survived.John is over by the pigeon coop. Carrier Pigeons that are used as messengers. Pigeons that have been used for thousands of years. The last time they were used with success was in both WWI and WWII. They are now being used again for the very same reasons they have always been used. Who the hell even looks at pigeons?? Practically no one.Wilbur Powell is the man who owns the pigeons and he lets John know where the pigeons can be used and where they will home to. Its info John needs so he can get messages out to those who need to see them.Oneida is practicing strict radio silence so the carrier pigeons are a godsend. A way to get messages out without having to send a runner. A runner who stood a very good chance of getting killed before he got to his destination with his message. Carrier pigeons would get there quicker and be ignored by most people. A win, win for John and his team.John is still heartbroken that he hasn't been able to rescue his son Gregory and he's getting ready for a mission to Y-12. Reese the sniper and Jerry Fowler the weatherman from Y-12 along with an armed escort will be heading to Y-12. John is now headed for the airport and the plane that will get them all to Y-12. He asks Moss to let his wife Diana and daughter Emma that he'll be on a trip.Reese is armed with a Barrett M82 .50 caliber sniper rifle and has an M4 hanging from a two point sling. Reese is an expert marksman and often provides overwatch on missions. He's one capable guy and one John appreciates big time.General Demsey has assured them that once the reach Y-12, Oak Ridge, soldiers from the 3rd Infantry Division as well as scientist from the research facility would be there to greet them. After that is was a question of rigging the warhead to a balloon and sending it high into the atmosphere. A warhead that would send an EMP strike to the Chinese just like the one they sent to America. So begins another fine read by Weber. This one has John, Diana, Emma, Reese, Jerry Fowler the meteorologist, General Demsey, Billy Ray Bryant the pilot who turns out to be one hell of a fighter, Moss, Devon, Ray Gruber, the warhead that delivers the EMP strike, the Chines commander General Wei Liang who's based in Nashville, TN,, Americans being held in slave labor camps of which a captured Gregory and his friend Brandon are now part of, slaves who plant, tend and grow the food for the Chinese Army, slaves who are beaten and shot for any infraction, slaves who need a way out, a Col. Mack who comes up with a plan to get them out, an Army veteran named Dixon, a spy called Phoenix, guerilla warfare Col. Mack practices using horses, Diana and Emma finding a way to print leaflets to be dropped at the slave labor camp, General Brooks, a General Brooks who's more interested in looking good and stealing the thunder on all successful missions, a fact that Col. Mack could care less about, Col. Higgs and the rest of the Military staff, a raid on the labor camp, steam locomotives, UN troops, a battle royal between the US Army and the Chinese, a traitor no one would have ever suspected and Col. John Mack and his team beating the odds for life and liberty.Five Stars and then some.

1 of 2 people found the following review helpful. A Well Done Close To The Series By H. J. Rossi In “Turning The Tide” author William Weber closes out the Last Stand series in a well-orchestrated narrative where John Mack attempts to take back his home town that had been overrun by foreign forces, and further, engineered a POW breakout.Like the other three books in the series, Weber has this one well-paced, and the action is believable. As our veteran infantry readers know, combat in built up areas is dangerous business The author also included PTSD, which certainly affected some of our returning forces from recent conflicts. Weber offers no editorial on this, but I will: Much of the stress that is added to a hugely stressful situation, are the ridiculous Rules Of Engagement outlined by the Puzzle Palace in Washington. But.... I digress.Mr. Weber continues to show an excellent talent for character development, and the story line can turn on a dime. As an example, the interesting identification of the illusive Phoenix. He also sets some of the characters that would open up a possible series, using one or more of them in future adventures. At the end of the book, the author mentions another series written under a pseudonym called ‘Long Road To Survival: The Prepper Series'’. That book is on my desk, and will be the next read. And so.... goodbye to Oneida, at least for now. I rate this one as a 4.8, and the same rating for the entire series. If you are new to this author, I suggest getting all four.Rossi

I gaze around at the blank, dirty-creme walls of my new bedroom, trying to stay optimistic. It’s not a big room by any stretch of the imagination, not even for a single, but I tell myself that’s not a problem - I’m not a big person, and I don’t have much stuff to fill the room with anyway. And then there’s the tiny, grime-encrusted excuse for a window, which is letting in less natural light than a ship’s porthole. But the landlord promised he’d be round to fix the light fitting tomorrow, so that’s not a problem either. And once I’ve unpacked my few boxes; and gotten to know my new housemates (three music school graduates - George, Gina and Harvey); and once I’ve found a job; and gotten used to the city, I’m sure I’ll feel right at home here in Bristol. I’ll just have to keep repeating that to myself that until it’s starts to feel true. At that moment a spring pops in the single, second-hand mattress on which I’m perched, bouncing up with a dull, resonating twang and jabbing me unexpectedly right in the behind. For a second I’m not sure whether I’m about to cry or burst into hysterical laughter. But then the first tear falls and before I know it I’m in the foetal position, my body shaking with self-pity as I clench my mouth and eyes closed against the oncoming storm of sobs. The last thing I need right now is for my three new peers downstairs to overhear my outburst, but after weeks of holding it all in I guess that, just like Yellowstone, I’ve been overdue for an eruption. All I can do is bury my face in my knees and try to muffle my crying as my tears slowly soak through my jeans. I’m not supposed to be here. I’d had it all planned out and this - this room, this unfamiliar city, this bleak future - was not a part of it. It’s hard to believe that less than four months ago everything had been so perfect - my life had been right on track and the future had been more than bright, it had been positively gleaming. But I should have known that any light that shines too brightly is bound to burn out sooner or later, and mine was abruptly extinguished on a Wednesday afternoon in late June. It was results day, and for most of my fellow final-year uni students, it was the day that either makes us or breaks us. I just didn’t anticipate that it would break me in such a way.

Excerpt from KeplerIn order to emphasise the importance of the reforms introduced into astronomy by Kepler, it will be well to sketch briefly the history of the theories which he had to overthrow. In very early times it must have been realised that the sun and moon were continually changing their places among the stars. The day, the month, and the year were obvious divisions of time, and longer periods were suggested by the tabulation of eclipses. We can imagine the respect accorded to the Chaldaean sages who first discovered that eclipses could be predicted, and how the philosophers of Mesopotamia must have sought eagerly for evidence of fresh periodic laws. Certain of the stars, which appeared to wander, and were hence called planets, provided an extended field for these speculations. Among the Chaldaeans and Babylonians the knowledge gradually acquired was probably confined to the priests and utilised mainly for astrological prediction or the fixing of religious observances. Such speculations as were current among them, and also among the Egyptians and others who came to share their knowledge, were almost entirely devoted to mythology, assigning fanciful terrestrial origins to constellations, with occasional controversies as to how the earth is supported in space.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Kepler (Classic Reprint), by Walter William Bryant

About the Author Johannes Kepler (December 27, 1571 – November 15, 1630) was a German mathematician, astronomer, and astrologer. A key figure in the 17th century scientific revolution, he is best known for his laws of planetary motion, based on his works Astronomia nova, Harmonices Mundi, and Epitome of Copernican Astronomy. These works also provided one of the foundations for Isaac Newton's theory of universal gravitation. During his career, Kepler was a mathematics teacher at a seminary school in Graz, Austria, where he became an associate of Prince Hans Ulrich von Eggenberg. Later he became an assistant to astronomer Tycho Brahe, and eventually the imperial mathematician to Emperor Rudolf II and his two successors Matthias and Ferdinand II. He was also a mathematics teacher in Linz, Austria, and an adviser to General Wallenstein. Additionally, he did fundamental work in the field of optics, invented an improved version of the refracting telescope (the Keplerian Telescope), and mentioned the telescopic discoveries of his contemporary Galileo Galilei.

I knew of Kepler as the father of orbital mechanics, but I didn't know much else about his life before I read this book. I am impressed and amazed by how persistent he was in deriving a model of the solar system, and doubly impressed that he kept such meticulous records of all of the dead end methods he tried before devising his planetary laws. Recommended for anyone who is interested in how a great man practiced science.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Ending the conflict between religion and science By Murray I. Suid Bryant's book, written early in the 20th century, does a good job of explaining to the lay person--like me--what Kepler accomplished and how he did it. I had no idea that most of what Kepler wrote was wildly wrong, and that he was more of a trial-and-error man than a brilliant scientist. Still, his astronomical laws were revolutionary, and they helped lead the way to modern astronomy. One of the more interesting parts of this book is the description of how religion delayed scientific breakthroughs. For example, many powerful religionists of Kepler's time and earlier believed that the circle was a "better" figure than the ellipse, and hence that God--in his perfection--would require that planets move in circular orbits. When Kepler proved otherwise, his book was banned.Today, even the most devoted fundamentalists accept Kepler's discovery that planets move elliptically. Unfortunately, even now many of those who control organized religions make the same error of those who worked against Kepler. Some, for example, use their interpretations of the Bible to ridicule scientific estimates of the age of the earth.A more enlightened religious leadership, one not seeking to impose its views on science, would--this book demonstrates--benefit both the sacred and the profane domains.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. A troubled life for science By Meks Librarian “Kepler”, a biography by Walter W. Bryant and first published in 1920, certainly was substantial enough – even too substantial in those parts where the author (from the Royal Observatory in Greenwich) describes in much detail all the equations and theories Kepler and other astronomers before him worked out. I must admit I quick-read several chapters; I wasn’t overly interested in the exact mathematical formulas for each of the three Kepler’s Laws of Planetary Motions, but much more in his life and in himself as a person.(If you are scientifically minded and want to see what I mean, have a look at the wikipedia-article and then imagine having it all explained in mere text, without any of the illustrations.)What I’d known about Johannes Kepler until now was precious little enough: He lived in the 16th and 17th century, was born in Weil der Stadt (a small town not very far from where I live) and worked as an astronomer, sometimes in close association with Tycho Brahe. With what I have learned from the book, a different picture emerges; that of a troubled man who was never really able to live off his scientific work, a man who had to deal with many problems and obstacles in both his personal and his professional life, and who most likely was never very happy during the 58 years of his life.He married twice; his first wife and several of his children died of various illnesses, no doubt due not only to the not very hygienic circumstances people generally lived under at the time, but also because the family were poor and probably could not always afford good meals and what limited medical help would have been available. Because of his constant shortage of money (he was patronized by several high-standing persons, for instance the Austrian emperor Rudolf, but payment was irregular at best), he wrote and sold horoscopes on demand – something he hated, because he knew it to be unscientific and untrue. The political and religious changes of his times meant he frequently had to change post and move his family from places in Austria to Prague, to Denmark and Germany, and he even could have gone to Italy on invitation of Galileo Galilei, but declined the offer on the grounds of feeling it was unsafe. To top all the problems coming from outside, he was physically weak and affected by vision problems due to having nearly died from smallpox as a child. Knowing all this, his great efforts in achieving something in the world of science seem even greater. Although his own knowledge was limited (for instance, Newton had not yet discovered the Law of Gravity), his work became crucial to the further development of astronomy.Like I said, I had not known much about Kepler until reading this book. It was well worth it, because I now have a more complete picture of someone who did not give up easily in the face of adversities. Not much can be found about the author with a superficial research; his name is listed several times in connection with various posts at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich for the years 1892 to 1923; apparently, he died in office as Superintendent of the Magnetical and Meteorological Department on 31 January 1923. He wrote other books and scientific articles, too, but little seems to have been recorded about himself.

Cowboy & Emily's story is complicated and emotial. I loved every single minute of this gripping page turner. We get to see Cowboy and Em. How they came came together, what drives them apart & the fight to get back together. Will they be able to over come their personal issues to move forward. Can Cowboy & Em work their way back to one another? Will situations tear them apart for good or bring them closer than ever? You need to read to find out. It was emotional and wonderful. I love the depth of the characters. The twisted and turns made me cry, yell & scream. But that is proof that it is a fantastic story. It was amazing and well written. I was so happy to get this next installment. And now I am dying for the next book. You will not be sorry. The Mayhem men are a force to be reconded with & the woman that love them are something else.

The pace is steady and I just could not put it down. You really feel the turmoil these characters experience. It will pull at your heart strings and have you asking why, but you will not be able to stop reading. They just can't seem to get a break and you feel it with them. Incredible story of love lost, found and everything in between. Hot moments and touching scenes. This has it all.

***Formerly DESTINY OF COINS***In this third installment of The Judas Chronicles, William Barrow(AKA Judas Iscariot) is faced with recovering the silver coin he dreads above all others. Known as the "Singing Coin" among the ancients, this shekel was originally lost long ago...on the very night of Jesus Christ's arrest in Jerusalem. Hoping to save it for last, until after the other twenty-nine coins are recovered, Viktor Kaslow's recent designs for the coin thwart William's plan.A new murder spree has begun for the ruthless Kaslow, who races against William and the immortal Roderick Cooley to obtain the coin from a reclusive Essene sect residing in the Bolivian Andes. But unlike William and Kaslow's previous confrontations, this one involves many more outside interests, since this coin contains unusual properties. If it falls into the wrong hands, the entire world will be brought to its trembling knees....The stakes have never been higher for William, his family, and the welfare of mankind. To stop Kaslow, William must rely on the help of Roderick, Alistair, and a host of others--both mortal and immortal--to have any hope of reclaiming blood coin number twenty-four before time runs out.Acclaim for the novels of Aiden James:"The intense writing style of Aiden James kept my eyes glued to the story and the pages seemed to fly by at warp speed. ...Twists, turns, and surprises pop up at random times to keep the reader off balance. It all blends together to create one of the best stories I have read all year."--Detra Fitch, Huntress Reviews for "The Devil's Paradise""Aiden James has written a deeply psychological, gripping tale that keeps the readers hooked from page one."--Bookfinds review for "The Forgotten Eden""Aiden James writing style flows very easily and I found that "Cades Cove" snowballed into a very gripping tale. Clearly the strengths in the piece were as the spirit's interaction became prevalent with the family... The Indian lore and ceremonies and the flashbacks to Allie Mae's (earthly) demise were very powerful. I think those aspects separated the work from what we've seen before in horror and ghost tales."--Evelyn Klebert, author of "A Ghost of a Chance" and "Dragonflies""Aiden James has a keen eye for detail and an uncanny knack for scaring the hell out of me. We are watching a master at work. "The Raven Mocker" is a nearly perfect thriller. Ghost stories don't get any better than this."--J.R. Rain, Bestselling author of the "Vampire for Hire" series"As with the previous titles I have read by this author, I found the author's writing style to be silky smooth and the main plot line to be extremely creative. The fertile imagination of Aiden James definitely knows what today's readers want to see in their stories."--Detra Fitch, Huntress Reviews for "The Vampires' Last Lover"

If you love a little Indie mixed with some Bond and blended with a little syfy then this is the adventure for you. As I have said in the past the author has such a detailed way of writing that images of where we are and what we are doing are ever present in my mind. This adventure had me cheering and sometimes nervous. My heart warmed at the end. I would recommend this entire series to everyone.

17 of 19 people found the following review helpful. Thriller in the Andes By Shari "Destiny of Coins" is a barn-burner! Aiden James' third installment of this series finds William Barrow, aka Judas Iscariot, on a desperate hunt in Bolivia for the `Singing Coin'; as he seeks to put this particular blood coin away for good, and out of the hands of the demented and despicable Viktor Kaslow. Shocking and thrilling at the same time, one can't help holding their breath throughout this book. This series is so riveting; with expertly developed characters that I almost wish I could `meet' William/Judas. I'm tickled to know that there are 6 more books for each of the remaining coins forthcoming! Thank you, Aiden, for another chilling, thrilling ride across the globe :o}

8 of 8 people found the following review helpful. Hooked on This Series By PMG I don't remember how I first got interested in this series but I am glad I did. It is a really fascinating concept and I love the characters. I would have given it the usual 5 star rating I gave the preceding ones but this one had a few dull and draggy spots that really were not pertinent to the story line. I will certainly get the next installment when it becomes available, I just have to find out what happens when William finally has all the coins. Great story concept and the author has a wonderful sense of imagination.

Bad luck and worse choices—that’s Irene. She’s been a widow half her life and now splits her time between waitressing at the Rise and Shine café and singing in an oldies cover band. And she’s having an affair with a married man—something that even her eclectic, super liberal family can’t condone. She’d be the first one to admit she has faults, but she’s not a bigot. The genetic pool in her nuclear family spans the globe. And it’s not that she’s prejudiced against people with disabilities but that doctors and wheelchairs give her the heebie-jeebies. So when a cute guy in a chair keeps showing up in the restaurant, she’s clumsy, awkward and strangely drawn. Can Irene let go of the past or is she too emotionally broken to find a future worth the risk?

Midnight Supper at the Rise and Shine, by Tara Woolpy

About the Author Tara Woolpy is the author of The Lacland series, loosely linked novels set in the fictional upper midwestern town of Lacland, including Releasing Gillian's Wolves, Raising Wild Ginger and Midnight Supper at the Rise and Shine. Tara earned her bachelor’s degree in English Literature from Whitworth College after which she spent a year at the Women Writers Center in Cazenovia, New York. While pursuing her writing career she paid the rent through an astonishing number of jobs—she’s been a waitress, a shop owner, a retail clerk, a half-way house counselor and a commercial diver. Eventually, she took a midlife hiatus from writing to become an aquatic scientist. As such she also holds a Masters degree from Oregon State University and a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Now she teaches online for the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay and has come back to writing fiction with new passion and wonder at the long, serpentine beauty of life. In addition to the novels, her work has appeared in Focus, Corymb, Kalliope, Alligator Juniper and the anthology The Things that Divide Us from Seal Press.

Quick Read to Keep You Company By Literary R&R Mandy's Review:First, I love that the Lacland novels intertwine but not so much that they can't be read as stand-alone novels. If you've not read a Lacland story before and wonder where it all begins, have no fear! Begin where you want, but if you're a little OCD like me you can begin with Releasing Gillian's Wolves.Irene's family is very close-knit and unique. With their genetics covering quite a few minorities, Irene's family is an easy target for racist groups. Having those experiences, you'd think Irene would be cognizant of another person's differences and be sensitive to that person. Not entirely true. Meeting an attractive guy in a wheelchair throws her for a loop and Irene has a tendency to offend him time and again.I found Irene's lack of a verbal filter, and her cluelessness when she offends, to be somewhat overdone. At times she seems to be uncaring that she's offended a disabled person. Also, she's been widowed for half her life and she's held on to anger and hurt for the entire time. We're talking about 20 years here. So much so that she couldn't talk about her dead husband to their son in present day. Maybe it's just me, and maybe I get over things quicker than others, but I think 20 years to be a bit excessive. Surely in 20 years' time she could have found several opportunities to buck up and share memories with her son about his father. I don't know ... like I said, maybe it's just me.Despite Irene's roughness and lack of sensitivity, I really did enjoy this novel. The small-town atmosphere really does draw you in and makes you want to get to know the characters in the novel. I would love to see what happens with Irene's son in the future. Please don't let my negative comments turn you away from reading this. It's a quick read that will keep you company on a lonely night. Give it a chance.*A physical copy of this novel was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Delightful Novel! By K. Branfield Midnight Supper at the Rise and Shine by Tara Woolpy is a delightfully charming novel set in the fictional town of Lacland. This heartwarming and thought-provoking story features a loving and supportive family whose daily lives are tightly intertwined both professionally and personally. After her husband Greg’s death, Irene Sato gave up her career as an opera singer and moved back to her small hometown with her son Adam. Although she has been widowed for twenty-four years, she has never been in another serious relationship and much to her family’s dismay, she is currently having an affair with a married man. Irene works long hours in the family owned dinner and she spends her weekends playing in her brother-in-law’s cover band. When Adam begins asking questions about the father he never knew, she slowly begins to realize that she has never really recovered from his death. And as if her life does not have enough complications, she cannot seem to keep her distance from newcomer Mark Redfield. Irene is uncomfortable with his disability and she has a few misconceptions about him that keep her off balance as they get to know one another.Irene is a complex and sympathetic protagonist. She is refreshingly direct although she is sometimes a little too candid when she is talking to Mark (even though he does not seem to mind). Despite her outspokenness, Irene has a difficult time discussing her marriage and answering Adam’s questions about Greg is difficult for her and their discussions bring her unresolved emotions to the surface. Equally troubling is her propensity for choosing unavailable men and Irene is becoming increasingly ashamed about her current affair. Her friendship with Mark is a bit of a turning point for her and as she begins to open up to him, Irene finally begins to heal. One of the best aspects of the novel is the strong family bond between Irene and her extended family. The family not only works together but they live together as well. While they do not always agree with one another’s decisions, they are always there for each other. The family is extremely close and everyone is very honest and open about what is going on in their lives. Their love and support for one another is unwavering and this helps them get through whatever life throws their way.Midnight Supper at the Rise and Shine by Tara Woolpy is an engaging novel with an appealing cast of multi-dimensional characters. The storyline is quite compelling and touches on relevant social issues in a sensitive, thought-provoking manner. An absolutely wonderful story that I absolutely loved and highly recommend.I received a complimentary copy for review.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. 4.5 **** By Yankeelin A fun, engrossing read. It's a novel about a multi-cultural family that not only works together in a family diner, but also lives in the same building....and they do it well!.The book deals with several current issues within the storyline - disablilty, homosexuality,pre-conceived judgements and hate groups, but not so that these issues are overbearing. (the author blends them into well written scenes) Instead you'll read about what makes up 'family'...the ties that bind, and how it IS possible to move on- as a group and individually. Irene is the central character, a widow who is so incredibly realistic that she jumps out of the pages! You'll want to eat at the Rise and Shine cafe' and you will DEFINTELY want Irene as a pal.

It does make you think about what would happen if the internet were to ever collapse. What would the United States be dealing with. Gas rations, alternative energy sources and other things we take for granted every day. It also has mystery and suspense. I also enjoyed the fact that the story concludes and does not leave you hanging on waiting for a sequel. Could not put it down till it was finished. Always great stories from Mairsile.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. I love all of her stories By it is really fun I believe I have read everything Mairsile has written. I love all of her stories. She gives the characters such depth and brings them alive. All of her books have been so heart felt. The women warrior series was the most emotional books I have ever read. I was crying out loud in the second one. She is an amazing writer. See no Evil is no different. I really enjoyed the read.

It's a book that absorbs you, and sends you off on tangents picturing what it would be like if the Internet just stopped working, and how the human hierarchy would differ. A good book....

It's a tale of a tough guy who gets involved with an evil man with an angel daughter for whom the tough guy falls. His efforts to recover hers and her father's gold mine claims is the story. Not a lot of shoot em up but enough story to make one want to finish the bookto see how things work out.

7 of 7 people found the following review helpful. Great Story By Double Ott Rancher My first Max Brand book and it was a good one. His characters are better developed than many characters get in this genre and his plot lines are also more interesting. Not the usual hero saves the heroine stuff.
