John Simes has created a novel with love and attention to detail, drawing on his experience, his wonderful sense of humour, and by digging deep within himself. As with all good books for younger readers this makes adults think just as much. It left me wanting more ... the characters and storyline, while resolved in one sense, leave me asking questions that I hope will be answered in the near future!

I was torn between reading it quickly as I could not wait to see what the next page brought, and reading it slowly as I did not want it to end! What a fascinating, intriguing story. Such colourful characters and beautifully descriptive. It drew me in as if I was in an enchanting 3D dream myself. Thoroughly absorbing and I cannot wait for 'A Game of Chess'.

What I like most about this offering is the crisp writing style found in book one is carried over to this read. The storyline picks up seamlessly where book one left off and the main characters are ever present. The book is well edited and if you enjoyed book one you'll like this one. While this book may be read as a stand alone offering, you might want to read book one if you haven't already done so. On the negative side--the price seems a bit high for an indie offering.

Solid young adult adventure story By Amazon Customer This is a solid young adult adventure story although I have to say that I liked the first one better. Then I have a tendency to always like the first book in any series that revolves around humans discovering that the are other life out there. That is when these kind of stories are fresh and they deliver most of their potential.This instalment did indeed try to keep some of those things in that Austin’s mother as well as a whole bunch of other people got involved. It is good reading but, as I wrote, I really felt that those “revelation” parts where better in the first instalment.There is a whole bunch of action going on in this book. It flips back and forth quite a lot between Austin and Josh, who is now a captive of the pirates. The action is pretty simple young adult stuff and did not always feel very logical. I guess this is my main gripe with this book. The story sometimes just feels somewhat cobbled together and is fairly ridiculous at times.The book did set things up for a interesting next book though. I just hope that the author can live up to the challenge of writing what has now become, not simply young adult wow-there-are-life-out-there story, but more of a full fledged space opera.

Buffington This is the second installment in the "Star Runners" series, and it does not disappoint. This is a really good "space opera" novel, and it does a good job of keeping the plot moving while still focusing on developing the characters. I don't want to contain any spoilers in this review, but suffice to say that the struggle with the Pirates and the Empire continues and as the plot accelerates it holds the reader's interest. I will definitely be looking forward to the third installment in this series

Enjoyable By lunpy joe I actually enjoy Mr Thorsens books, and appreciate that he doesn't feel the need to fill it with cursing and graphic sexual acts.His writing style and the charachters conversations tend to be overly formal, with a few typo's and gramatical errors, but doesn't really detract from the subject matter or the plot.Have read many of his short stories and hope he continues writing more of them

The author's writing was just enough to keep me interested to the end but not enough to make me want to buy another if this was a series. Some high & low points but overall, the characters were not as appealing as I would like. I want to care about & root for my characters. Although I didn't find the characters in this book too superfiscal, I also did not find the more than a passing interest.

Old but still thought provoking and in line with so much of educational principles/laws. Respect for students of all ages, awe of the creation and how it works together, are themes throughout Fabre's works for children. The hardest part of this is realizing that the elder son died, breaking so much of Fabre's heart from then on. It is clear that he loved his sons (who are written in as his nephews.....). So yes, the love of teacher/student is very clear and endearing.

Who knew fiction could be made to feel so realistic. I was not pleased by the ending, however it did fit in with the storyI would recommend the book and look forward to more books from Kobe.

I didn't think Wilton, in all honestly would exceed that book, but in my humble opinion he has.This is such a refreshing, delightful funny read it sort of puts a spring in your step.The dialogue is excellent throughout and some of the quirky characters grow on you until you love them.It reminds me so much of Tom Sharpe and in the style of the old British comedy.s, that to be honest, were the best in the world. It begs to be made into a film or tv series.This really is a brilliant feel good read that you will not be able to put it down. I couldn't and I had so many other things to do. His style of writing I love, he just draws you inI will certainly look out for this author and hopefully be reading a lot more

By Book Reviewer This is the second book in a series, but on reading it (and not having read the first) does not feel as though I missed out - but I will certainly be reading the first 'Save our Shops'.Lots of fun, quirky characters, a nice splice of comedy and just all in all a really good entertaining read!I like this author's style, he writes in an easy manner, which is fun and entertaining to read. Definitely an author who I will watch for more!

Pen So to start don't bother Ewing this book of you haven't read all the other undraland books, this is not a stand alone.Okay now amazing I couldn't put it down.I absolutely love revisiting with Jens and Lucy,Britta, Jamie and Foss.This book takes us yet another crazy adventure for the band of misfits now living in the other side.Lucy is now part Siren after killing Pesta, and when her secret finally comes out the group is angry and terrified. However that's not the least of it something is wrong with her laplanded brother Jamie and he's not himself. His temper is flaring and he's torturing Lucy the one way she can't get away from, he's in her head and it's killing her. Meanwhile there is also a hit out on her which we discover when we meet Jens friend tucker. Whether he's actually friend or foe is left to be seen. When this book ends you'll be screaming to know what's happening next, so much is realized so much is said and even though some questions are answered even more appear.As usual the love triangle of Foss, Jens, and Lucy is a quagmire that I don't know how to handle. Jens is so amazing and some of the things he does just makes me swoon and then the next minute I want to hit him over the head with a 2x4!Foss on the other hand seems to be redeeming himself and I'm falling for him more and more.One of the many reasons I love Jens!"I gasped when he bent his face to the rag and lightly touched one of the stars to his cheekbone. Right above the diamond-shaped tattoo he wore for my family blinked a solitary star only as big as a dot from a Sharpie. It was my mark that he wore just for me. “You shouldn’t have done that,” I breathed, totally floored. He shrugged, giving me that lickable grin I loved. He mouthed, I love you, and I did the same. You can tell when an author takes time to put their all into a story and that's exactly what Porscha did. Wow...Queen went through some things and I just hope everything works out for her. She had no choice but to long for any type of family especially since hers was taken away from her so suddenly and drastically. Andre was cool, but you don't need a King to be a Queen. I think Queen is realizing that and finding her strength in the process. I won't give any spoilers, but this story blew me away!!! I will patiently wait for the next one! Awesome read!

Excerpt from A Review of AlgebraIn most high schools the course in Elementary Algebra is finished by the end of the second year. By the senior year, most students have forgotten many of the principles, and a thorough review is necessary in order to prepare college candidates for the entrance examinations and for effective work in the freshman year in college. Recognizing this need, many schools are devoting at least two periods a week for part of the senior year to a review of algebra.For such a review the regular textbook is inadequate. From an embarrassment of riches the teacher finds it laborious to select the proper examples, while the student wastes time in searching for scattered assignments. The object of this book is to conserve the time and effort of both teacher and student, by providing a thorough and effective review that can readily be completed, if need be, in two periods a week for a half year.Each student is expected to use his regular textbook in algebra for reference, as he would use a dictionary, - to recall a definition, a rule, or a process that he has forgotten. Stephen Watson Algebraic notation does not appear in this Kindle edition of an early 20th Century high school algebra textbook. Because the algebraic notation is missing, this book is filled with passages like the following:Solve these equations:1.2.3.4.Without algebraic notation, the book is useless on a Kindle.

By betty l. dravis I usually enjoy short stories, or at least several in a collection catch my interest. Sorry to say that most of these stories didn't make much sense to me and not one held my interest. I thought some of the author's ideas were good, but not well-developed enough.I hate to be so harsh, but there are actually too many paragraphs that are jumbled and unreadable for me to give this book a good rating. One example: "After that new neighbor three blocks down was so ugly as Jonathan walked by on Saturday afternoon and kept walking and only said, "Hello," and the new neighbor uttered great verbal violence, then Jonathan could only walk away slowly, by measure of progressive neurological deterioration from tens of thousands of pills, tablets and capsules." And that is all one sentence that's hard to read, let alone decipher. Is the author trying to be descriptive in saying that "Because Jonathan was 'messed up' from taking too many pills, all he could do was walk away after the neighbor treated him so badly?"The stories were all written like that and seemed to go around and around; I could distinguish the beginnings, of course, but they didn't weave into a middle and an ending in a satisfactory, coherent manner.Neither could I see how the title "All Points North" described the book.My apologies to Shelby R. Lee III. I wish I could have enjoyed his work. In writing this review on the day following Christmas, I feel like Scrooge... While I appreciate Mr. Lee's enthusiasm and dedication to the writing process, All Points North left me wandering, confused. His stream of consciousness writing made little sense to me and I had a hard time following the plot, or keeping my focus. I don't usually read other reviews prior to writing my own, but in an effort to be fair, in case I just didn't "get" his writing, I took a look. I am not alone in my opinion.As a first-time work, Mr. Lee shows a lot of intelligence and potential for future projects, but I would hope he would take a closer look into his style and take the constructive criticism as a tool to further his work. My best wishes to him in his future endeavors.*A physical copy was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.
