I fell in love with Lea in "The Summer of Change - Lea's Story" and it was great to get to read about what happens to her bestie Nicole. Following the same time line as the first book, you get to see how Nicole's life is without Lea and how she and her family learn to let go of the painful past that has haunted them for years. Praise to Violet Christian and I look forward to reading all of her future books!

Interview with the Author Abby Greenwood Q: why do you write free shape novels when others are charging for theirs? A: I am a self publishing author so I don't have the marketing power of other authors who write shape novels and also have big publishing companies to promote their books. I give my shape shifter novels away for free so readers can evaluate my stories and then decide if they want to invest in my other shapeshifter romance novels. Q: There are a lot of alpha werewolf romance stories available; do you include any in your book? A: The main character is a billionaire diamond mine owner who is the future king and high lord of the falcon clan. In this book he meets his girl but she is kidnapped by a rogue alpha werewolf so yes there are alpha werewolves in this book but you will have to read it to find out what happens. Q: This is your first book in the paranormal shape shifter genre, will you be releasing shifter romance box sets or bundle? A: I already have book two published (Heart Of The Hunter) and I am half way through the third book (Heart of the Heiress) so once the third book is finished I will be releasing my shifter romance box sets/bundle. Q: So, why should readers give your free shapeshifter romantic short story books a try? A: When I was a child living in England I used to watch the old British Hammer House Of Horror movies about werewolf’s and vampires, they frightened the life out of me. As I got older I started to read more of these shape shifter romance books, I liked them so much I put pen to paper and wrote my very first with a little mystery and suspense thrown in. If you like paranormal fiction with a little romance thrown in you will love my free shapeshifter novels.

By Gary Wittmann I found the character to be well developed, fast pace story making me want to find out with each chapter. The suspense to know what would happen the characters. I love the shift shaping type of stories and this one fulfilled that need. Looking forward to more in this series. It did leave with a cliffhanger so you know you will want to buy the next book.

That’s where their similarities end.Gray is the sole heir to the clan. Groomed from birth to eventually take over as head of the clan. His family is rich, well-respected, calculating, and powerful.Layla is a woman rebuilding her life after experiencing a devastating relationship that left her heartbroken and dispirited.A rainy day brings them together when Layla is doused from a nearby puddle as she stands on the sidewalk. Splashed by the expensive car Gray is being driven in. He stops and gives her his jacket to wear. What follows is a fierce, fast tale of two falcons the winds have deemed should be together. As humans, that may not be possible. The story was interesting, but It would have been nice if the characters had a few more moments of being together before being plunged into the politics and intrigue of clan business. Overall, it was a good read, keep in mind the end is a cliffhanger. If you want to see what happens next, you’re going to need the next book.

The problem lies in Gray's family and political obligations along with this manipulating father and mother. This is a shapeshifter romance which reminds me of the southern shifters series in kindle worlds. It's part of a series and ends with a cliffhanger. I'll definitely get the next book.

Someone found him in a laundry basket at the Quick Wash, wrapped in a towel, a few hours old and close to death. They called him "Baby Moses" when they shared his story on the ten o'clock news.

It all happened before I was born, and by the time I met Moses and my mom told me all about him, the story was old news, and nobody wanted anything to do with him. People love babies, even sick babies. Even crack babies. But babies grow up to be kids, and kids grow up to be teenagers. Nobody wants a messed up teenager.

And Moses was messed up. Moses was a law unto himself. But he was also strange and exotic and beautiful. To be with him would change my life in ways I could never have imagined. Maybe I should have stayed away. Maybe I should have listened. My mother warned me. Even Moses warned me. But I didn't stay away.

By Natasha is a Book Junkie “If I were to paint you, I would use every color.”You know you’re going to experience a myriad of emotions just by opening an Amy Harmon book, having personally welcomed many a sunrise curled up in bed sobbing like a baby while not getting a wink of sleep, simply unable to put her beautiful words down. But nothing could have prepared me for the sheer exquisiteness of this story, and for the marvellous characters Ms Harmon has once again gifted us with. Every part of this book surprised me, thrilled me, made my heart burst at the seams, and the biggest gift I’m going to give you, my fellow readers, is by not telling you what this story is really all about.“This is the story of love with no end . . . though it took me a while to get there.”We meet Georgia Shepherd at the tender age of seventeen—a simple girl from a small country town, a tomboy, a loving daughter. Georgia’s love of horses and her unique talent at taming them have always meant that her future would never be uncertain, but Georgia’s rather sheltered small town upbringing has also made her hungry to leave home for a while, seek the unknown and experience freedom for the first time in her life. Yet everything changes when a young man with an unusual life story moves into the house next door.“… when Moses came to Levan, he was like water—cold, deep, unpredictable, and, like the pond up the canyon, dangerous, because you could never see what was beneath the surface.”Moses Wright was born a ‘crack baby’, and found abandoned in a laundry basket when he was only a few hours old. Moses has always been different from other little boys of his age, his unusual looks only overshadowed by his peculiar behaviour, his unpredictable temperament and his determination not to let anyone get close to him. Constantly tossed from one relative to another, never wanted by any, repeatedly dismissed as a ‘messed up kid’ who could not be fixed, his life never became easy. However, everything changes for Moses the day his great-grandmother decides to take him in on a permanent basis, despite being advised against it by her entire family, her love for him making her confident she could pull him out of his self-imposed solitude. But Moses is not an ordinary young man. He holds a secret that has shaped his entire existence, every human contact, everything he sees around him, and that very secret has made him afraid of loving anyone in his life. His incredible but highly unusual art is a visual representation of everything he keeps to himself, his only escape from the images he cannot hide from.“If you don’t love, then nobody gets hurt. It’s easy to leave. It’s easy to lose. It’s easy to let go.”The last thing Moses expects to find in life is someone like Georgia Shepherd. She is open, unpretentious and her every failed attempt at making Moses warm up to her and let her be his friend only seem to make her even more determined to sneak through the cracks of Moses’ brooding disposition. Georgia is the kind of girl who loves freely, generously, and her pride never gets in the way of her honesty, regardless of how many times he rejects her or mistreats her with harsh words. She speaks without thinking, says everything and anything that is on her mind, gives her heart unreservedly, and eventually, a bit of Georgia’s light manages to shine through the dark cracks that Moses so desperately tries to hide.“She was a small town girl with a simple way of speaking and thinking, a frank way of being that turned me on and turned me off at the same time. I wanted to run from her. But at the same time, I spent all my time thinking about her.”As their budding romance progresses very slowly, and Georgia grows more and more attached to Moses, heart-shattering loss strikes this young man’s life again, and his future suddenly changes forever. When faced with returning to a place that only holds sorrow for him or taking off to never return to that place again, Moses decides to flee, leaving behind a heartbroken girl whose only sin was loving him without restraint.“I’m a very ordinary girl, Moses. I know that I am. And I always will be. I can’t paint. I don’t know who Vermeer is, or Manet for that matter. But if you think ordinary can be beautiful, that gives me hope. And maybe sometime you’ll think about me when you need an escape from the hurt in your head.”Seven years later, their paths suddenly cross again, but neither of them are the same as they once were. Life has changed them both deeply, taken away their innocence and altered their perception of what they once shared. However, some loves never fade, some loves survive all hurt, and some loves never stop reminding you of everything you should be grateful for.“Georgia’s eyes, Georgia’s hair, Georgia’s mouth, Georgia’s love, Georgia’s long, long legs.”As always, there is a subtle but very powerful message woven into every word, every single heart-warming scene. By letting us hear both the main characters’ voices, we are given the opportunity to bond with them equally, to understand them, empathise with them, share their hopes. Moses’ ‘secret’ is a crucial part of the story itself, an angle I never expected to find or adore so much, and because of the way it astonished me, I wish for you to uncover it on your own too. This is a book about gratitude, about never forgetting that there is always something to be thankful for in life, even in the grimmest of moments, and that it is never too late to seize happiness and never let go of it again. It’s a story that does not shield us in any way from soul-crushing heartbreak, a few scenes being so intensely distressing that I could not breathe from the sheer heaviness of them, but the beauty of the moments of joy we are given throughout this book is what we walk away with, smiling through our tears and babbling our own ‘five greats’ to ourselves. There are no words that would ever do justice to a story like this one. Ms Harmon has once again given us an inspiring tale to cherish forever, a story written so elegantly, at times even poetically, that breathes itself into our hearts and, hopefully, even leaves a small part of itself behind. An absolute delight to read, as always.“If you would just let me in, if you would just love me back, we could have a beautiful life.”

Not only is the chemistry, love, and even heartache between the two main characters, Moses and Georgia, undeniable, it's one of the strongest and most unique story lines I've read in a while. As for the plot, I can normally find the angle in the story, see the end coming. I never predicted it would end the way it does. I was literally on edge the entire book, in a good way. It's a page turner for sure. For those that have never read Amy Harmon before (I suggest you read all of them:) you'll know she's raw. Like most of her books, The Law of Moses has a bit of adult language and scenarios, but nothing that made me uncomfortable. Her characters are always human with their imperfections and flaws, and real emotions. In fact, the characters in The Law of Moses may be some of the most intense I've met yet. I guarantee you've never met anyone like Moses, but just wait until you do. I wasn't sure I even liked him for about the first quarter of the novel, but then it just hit me- this guy is really something special. The Law of Moses has a deep spiritual message without being spiritual. You can't get through this one and not contemplate your own thoughts on God and unconditional love, although never does she push that on the reader. In fact, I imagine it might just stir up some religious folks, I mean with all the talks of ghosts and what not. But that's all I'll say about that, I don't want to give too much away after all. Just know that your thoughts will be provoked and challenged. Like Moses says "If you're afraid of the truth, you'll never find it".I can normally speed through a book in just a day or two. But this one was different. This one was so intense, I had to read it in bits and process it before I could continue. I had to put it down for a minute about every quarter because it was that intense. When I finished, with tears rolling down my face, I just sat there unmoving. It was THAT good. Because of that, I give this book a rating not too many receive from me, and that's a true five stars. In fact, I think I'm still processing it. It will be one that I pick up and reread again someday for sure.

She seems to posses the ability to weave her words through my veins until the story syncs with my heart. That said, I had to take a few days to digest The Law of Moses. I had to take some time to decide how I felt about Moses. Some of the criticism toward the male lead I've seen in other reviews is understandable. He isn't the perfect hero. At times I didn't believe he deserved Georgia's love and effort. Then I remembered that he is not supposed to be. He is flawed. He is troubled. He does not believe himself worthy so we as readers can't help but mirror that sentiment at times.I have seen quite a bit of reviews complaining about the genre not reflecting paranormal. As a reader of several paranormal series, I have to agree with Amy that it doesn't fall in that category. It does however contain the mysticism that surrounds death and the hereafter. Anyone who has read Amy's previous books knows that she often tells stories that reflect the reality of the pains we feel in life but soothes us with the mysticism of faith and love. The Law of Moses continues in that tradition. The "paranormal" element people have taken issue with revolves around Moses' ability to see images of memories from people who have died. He then has to paint these images in order for the deceased to feel validated and leave him in peace.Anyone who focuses on this element of the story I feel misses the point. This is Moses' gift/curse, but I felt the reason behind it was to continue in the theme of love that goes along with this book. The story reminds us that love does not die when our loved ones do. Just as we continue to love them after they are gone, so do they continue to love us. Love does not exist in this plain alone. So after reading and digesting The Law of Moses, I find myself remembering the things I know but forget. Love is a grace. It is bestowed on us even if we are not worthy; and none of us are worthy if you give love based on an equation. There is no formula that says x number of good deeds + y amount of time together= love. I may have gone off on a tangent, but this is what Amy's stories do to you. They make you think a little more about the things you do and do not know. The Law of Moses is a love story, but it is love in all its facets - romantic love, family love, friendship love. If you are looking for a one dimensional love story, this book is not for you. If you are looking for a story that shows love in all its beautiful and sometimes dark colors, you will love this book.

Excerpt. © Reprinted by permission. All rights reserved. Located in northern Spain, the city of Zaragoza was alive with color. The large city housed half a million people, and its narrow streets and alleyways were brought to life with music and the sounds of the citizens. Parts of the city had been destroyed and rebuilt over the years, but the oldest landmarks, like the Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar—a huge, palace-like cathedral dedicated to Christian faith—and the Aljaferia Palace, had somehow survived, repur-posed, to revel in their second phoenix lives.Above those ancient towering spires, the sky was turning a rich shade of red as the sun set, painting everything with its pinkish glow and turning the Ebro, the river that bisected the city, into a shimmering orange line. Two figures were hurrying across the Puente de Piedra, a man and a woman. She seemed eager to cross the bridge of lions, while he was clearly more reluctant."Come on, Grant-san," the young woman urged, tugging at the man's hand, "I have no desire to be late." Her name was Shizuka and she was the leader of the Tigers of Heaven, the ruling group of New Edo in the Western Isles of the Pacific. A formidable warrior, Shizuka was a petite woman of Asian extraction, with golden skin and dark eyes with a pleasing upward slant, lips like cherry blossoms and fine dark hair.Shizuka wore an elegant evening dress in midnight blue. The dress sat high across her neck, leaving her arms bare and reaching to midway down her legs, cinched tightly across her hips and legs to accentuate her figure. The figure beneath was slim and athletic, taut muscles moving in slick motion as she trotted across the bridge on three-inch heels. The man beside her could not be more at odds with Shizuka's lithe and petite frame. In his midthirties, Grant was a hulking figure of a man, six-foot-four inches tall, all corded muscle without an ounce of fat. His skin was a rich mahogany, his head shaved, and he sported a gunslinger's mustache. He wore a well-cut suit with blazer jacket in a shimmering gray-silk weave. Beneath the jacket he wore a wine-dark shirt and a black bow tie that, despite his best efforts not to, he could not help adjusting as they hurried across the bridge that crossed the River Ebro. Grant was an ex-Magistrate, an enforcer of baronial law, from the US settlement of Cobaltville. In recent years he had traded that role for a position with the Cerberus organization, a group dedicated to the safety of humankind, defending it from alien threats and other terrors that had been caused by extraterrestrial intervention or as fallout from the alien barons' schemes to rule the world."Why should we hurry, Shizuka?" Grant asked. His voice was a rumble like distant thunder, but there was a tenderness there that spoke of his feelings for his breath-takingly beautiful companion. "This is our chance to relax. So slow down, enjoy the sights. A place this beautiful needs time to be admired."Grant had been with Shizuka for several years, though they had seemed to have little time to relax and enjoy one another's company in all the time that they had been together. This visit here to Zaragoza was Grant's attempt to change that, a moment's quiet in the ongoing battle against alien incursion.Shizuka had to admit that it was hard to argue with her lover's point. She slowed down, admiring the view from the bridge as they approached the west bank. The city of Zaragoza had suffered a little at the hands of the nuclear devastation that had racked the Western hemisphere, but much of the city had survived, and what had not had been sympathetically rebuilt over the two centuries since that awful nuclear exchange. There was a palpable sense of age to the place, that tranquil beauty that only old buildings—and old stone—exhibited. The Puente de Piedra was an ancient stone bridge that crossed the Ebro in the center of the city. Two decorative bronze lions had been placed atop pillars at either end of the bridge—four in all—guarding the crossing and the travelers who used it. Making the crossing to the west side, one could see the towering, ornate turrets of the Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar to the right, a beautiful palace that looked something like an upturned table with its exquisite carved legs thrust up into the sky. To the left stood the rich redbrick building that housed artifacts from the Roman era, and towering behind this was the ornate spire of La Seo Cathedral, its white brickwork recolored in a luminous strawberry red as the sun set behind it. Trees lined the wide avenue that ran alongside the riverbank, obscuring the towering gray-brown structures of ornate design that looked out across the water. Wheeled wags hurried to and fro, transporting locals and visitors to destinations amid the city's bustling nightlife."You continue to surprise me, Grant-san," Shizuka said as she took in the magnificent view."This is why we came here," Grant said, indicating the panorama that stretched out all around them. "The clean air, the sunlight on the water—I like to believe it's all been put here just for us.""Oh, Grant," Shizuka whispered, turning back to him and gazing longingly into his eyes. "I forget how you can make me melt within."For a moment Grant looked regretful. "Easy to forget," he admitted. "I don't make enough time for 'us' sometimes…"Before he could say anything further, Shizuka placed her index finger against Grant's lips. "Because you are too busy saving people's lives, my brave hero," she reminded him, "and there can be no shame in taking that choice. A weaker man than you would turn his back on his obligations.""Especially when there's a hottie waiting at home for him," Grant said, a broad smile appearing across his face as he admired his lover. But the smile faltered when he saw Shizuka's flawless brow furrow in uncertainty. "All right, all right," Grant said, holding his hands up as if in surrender, "so maybe I shouldn't have called you a hottie. You're a capable, vibrant woman who…who knows what she wants and…and.""Go on," Shizuka encouraged, an air of challenge in her voice."And…intelligent, beautiful and wise," Grant finished, an uncertain note of hope in his tone.Shizuka crossed her arms over her chest and nodded. "Hai. Quite true," she agreed. "However, that was not what caused me to question your statement, Grant-san, because I am a hottie. Rather, when have you ever known this hottie to stay at home waiting for her man?"Grant looked suitably chastised. "You have a point."Shizuka raised Grant's left arm then and twirled beneath it until she was wrapped in his grip, ready to walk beside him across the bridge. "We both have busy lives, Grant-san," she reminded him. "You with Cerberus, me with my obligations to the Tigers of Heaven. There is no shame in our choices, nor in shouldering the responsibilities we have both been tasked to endure. However, today is not about that. This night, this week—it is all for us, with no buzzing Commtacts or pleading advisers.""I never had an adviser," Grant stated as they strode arm in arm across the vast stone bridge."And I have never had a Commtact," Shizuka replied, whip-fast.The Commtact to which Shizuka referred was a remarkable tool that Grant and his fellow Cerberus operatives relied upon for global communications. It was a small radio device that was embedded beneath the skin of all Cerberus field personnel, including Grant. The subdermal devices were top-of-the-line units, the designs for which had been discovered among the artifacts in Redoubt Yankee several years before by the Cerberus rebels.Commtacts featured sensor circuitry incorporating an analog-to-digital voice encoder that was embedded in a subject's mastoid bone. As well as radio communications, the Commtacts could function as a translation device, operating in real time. Once the pintels made contact, transmissions were funneled directly to the user's auditory canals through the skull casing, vibrating the ear canal to create sound. This facility had the additional perk of being able to pick up and enhance any subvocalization made by the user, which meant that it was unnecessary to speak aloud to utilize the transmission function.Broadcasts from the unit were patched through the Keyhole communications satellite, or Comsat, and then relayed to the Cerberus redoubt headquarters in Montana. Thanks to the nature of the vibration system used by the Commtact, if a user went completely deaf they would still, in theory, be able to hear, in a fashion, courtesy of the Commtact device."Anyway, you promised me a romantic evening of dinner and dancing," Shizuka reminded Grant."The evening's barely begun," Grant told her, pulling the modern-day samurai a little closer as they walked past the lion-topped columns at the end of the bridge. The pair had arrived just a few hours before, booking into a grand, family-run hotel after traveling via interphaser. Based on an alien design, the interphaser could tap quantum pathways and move people through space to specific locations instantaneously. The technology was limited by certain esoteric factors, the full gamut of which had yet to be cataloged, but what was known was that the interphaser was reliant on an ancient web of powerful, hidden lines called parallax points that stretched across the globe and beyond. This network followed old ley lines and formed a powerful technology so far beyond ancient human comprehension as to appear magical. Though fixed, the interphaser's destination points were often located in temples, graveyards or similar sites of religious significance. These sites had frequently emerged around the interphaser's use, ancient man sensing the incredible power that was being tapped for such instantaneous travel. Cerberus personnel's access to an operational interphaser had taken many months of trial and error to achieve. This time, the quantum jump had brought Grant and Shizuka close to an ancient church, more ruin than building now, located in the middle of a dusty, overgrown graveyard on the east bank, their arrival unseen. From there, the couple had made their way to the luxurious rooms in which they would be staying. The rooms were typically Spanish, painted in light colors to reflect the heat and sparsely decorated to leave them uncluttered. The bed featured a brass frame shined to look like gold in the fierce sunlight that blasted through the open window of the balcony, and a complimentary bottle of wine had been left cooling in an ice bucket for their arrival. At reception, Grant had deftly navigated the questions about how their trip had been and when they had arrived; the interphaser was a method of travel exclusive to the Cerberus organization and not something he wanted to advertise. The midday heat of the Spanish sun was enough to knock both of them out, however, so instead of exploring the city Grant and Shizuka had spent a restful few hours just catching up with each other, tracing the familiar curves of one another's bodies before indulging in a late-afternoon swim in the hotel's pool. Now, at a little before 8:00 p.m., the pair made their way toward their destination, a small café that became a restaurant when the sun set.As the chill of the approaching night began to make itself felt, Grant and Shizuka strolled past a Roman theater, a series of stepped levels organized around a semicircle where ancient actors had once performed. Now it was a little tribute to those long-forgotten days, where only the occasional play might still be performed for a specific celebration or anniversary. The sky had turned a pleasing shade of indigo when they found the restaurant, Shizuka still aggrieved that they were late. The owner—a large-bellied, red-faced man with a graying mustache and ragged, curly hair—did not mind their tardiness. It seemed that that was very much the culture of this city. "Time," he told them in ebullient Spanish, "is whatever you make it, and you may make of that what you will."Inside, the restaurant was softly lit with candlelit tables and floor-length windows that were open along a side that faced into an alleyway to allow a through breeze to keep the place cool. As they were shown to their table, Grant squeezed Shizuka's hand, and she looked up at him. He said nothing, but his look seemed to say, Look at this place. Look at all the wonderful things out here for us to enjoy. It was a world away from the one they knew. And so they ate, unaware of what was occurring barely a block away. After food came dancing. Grant jokingly tried to swear off, claiming he was too full of paella to move, but Shi-zuka shot him a look that could leave no doubt as to why she was the ultimate authority in New Edo."You will dance and you will enjoy it," she said."I will dance and you will enjoy it," Grant corrected with a mischievous, boyish grin. They made their way down the alleyway that ran beside the restaurant, passing parked vehicles and other couples enjoying the city's nightlife. Spain was a country of night people, the heat of the day too fierce to enjoy. Now the burning heat had turned to a refreshing night breeze, and Shizuka rubbed her bare arms as they crossed a junction and made their way toward the grand hotel that was their destination. From outside, the grand, four-story building was awash with lights, its windows burning brightly in the darkness."There's a dance hall inside," Grant explained. "I hear it can be quite an experience."Shizuka smiled as she looked up at her taller companion, her face alive with delight.Even from here, a dozen yards from the steps that led to the open front doors, they could hear the strains of a band, acoustic guitars rushing through some local number at furious speed, maracas click-clacking to keep time as the tune hurtled toward its finale, a blur of tumbling notes and riffs.Grant and Shizuka hurried up the steps, a spring in Shi-zuka's step as she led her lover through the lobby toward the grand ballroom, which dominated the hotel's ground floor. Grant stopped momentarily to tip the doorman before dashing after Shizuka as she reached for the double doors into the ballroom itself, the strains of a flamenco emanating loudly from within.Grant reached for Shizuka, wrapping one muscular arm around her and pulling her close as she pulled one door open. "I love you," he said as he brought Shizuka's face close to his own."I love you, too, my bravest one," Shizuka told him before kissing him on the lips. Then the pair turned back to the doors that were swinging open where Shizuka had pulled their handles. The hurtling notes of the furious flamenco became suddenly louder, twin guitars racing through notes as if trying to outpace one another, the maracas chattering like an insect swarm, a woman's voice melodically reciting in a foreign tongue. But what lay beyond was enough to stop the two warriors in their tracks. The ballroom was vast with an ornate ceiling and richly decorated walls, each carving lit by a flickering candle or the low, shaded light of a bulb. To one corner, the band was playing, four men in dinner jackets and a female singer with luxurious, dark hair tied up tight to her head with a flower clipped there and wearing a wispy dress the rich red of rose petals. But no one was dancing. Instead, perhaps a dozen couples, dressed in their most beautiful clothes—the women's dresses cut to accentuate their curves, the men's suits cut to hide their own—were hanging from the ceiling in rows, each couple lined up together, two dozen nooses wrapped around two dozen necks, their feet swaying a few feet above the perfectly sprung wooden floor.Grant and Shizuka stared at the scene in absolute horror. And suddenly a city of half a million people felt very, very empty.

By Edward St. Boniface I follow the OUTLANDERS series closely and like the way James Axler has been developing the larger story arc of the Annunaki, vicious and apparently immortal god-aliens prominent in the mythology of the series, attempting to re-invade the Earth which they once ruled thousands of years ago. In the meantime an atomic holocaust having made the planet as chaotic for them as its own inhabitants they desperately need allies, and all too often your Machiavellian friends plot against you even more than your foes.Premise in the new installment HELL'S MAW is an interesting villain named Papa Hurbon who stumbles on powerful ancient magic that can assist the Annunaki for his own purposes. Fearsomely, he says the Annunaki themselves 'thought too small'. In bizarre science-and-sorcery rituals he calls up an ancient spirit that was once so feared on Earth she became known as a goddess of death in the remote legendry of Mesopotamia.'Ereshkigal' is her name and she needs the blood sacrifice of as many humans as possible to physically reconstruct herself, having fallen and become dormant in the near-prehistoric at the very dawn of human civilisation. Scientific brilliance has let her stumble on the secret of literal words of death that when spoken destroy a human from within, ironically in a state of terrifying euphoria.Scene for this collision happens to be the location chosen by Cerberus Organisation's Grant and Shizuka, on their first holiday in years in Spain. This is another element I like, an unpredictable and creative departure for the usual post-apocalypse settings, which can sometimes get a bit samey and come to tooo-closely resemble the classic Saturday morning cartoon series THUNDARR THE BARBARIAN.Even in the future it seems coastal Spain is a favourite holiday destination, a respite from the largely radioactive and savage wasteland most of the rest of the Earth has become. Zaragoza on the coast of the Ebro river is an intact survival and a fun, interestingly exotic setting for the ominous resurrection of Ereshkigal.Shizuka and Grant, dedicated agents of Cerberus and romantically involved, are only trying to get away from it all and catch up on some long overdue romance time. But a primordiaal temple arises from the desert outside the city and the alien goddess' evil influence begins to take hold in the form of freakish and irrational mass suicides and the appearance of deadly and well armed killer zombies doing Ereshkigal's terrible bidding.Chaos builds inexorably as Grant and Shizuka are caught up. Simultaneously trying to help and themselves survive the goddess' persistent deadly assassins. With much difficulty trying to avoid getting the blame from city authorities for the deaths themselves. Brigid Baptiste and Kane back at Cerberus HQ soon become aware of the renewed Annunaki activity and fly out to help, setting the stage for an apocalyptic confrontation.Although they succeed and Ereshkigal is seemingly destroyed, the baleful work of Papa Hurbon is continuing and this is clearly just an opening salvo. Interesting villains are key to a series like OUTLANDERS keeping its freshness. Papa Hurbon and Ereshkigal are both enigmatic and convincing baddies. In each case I found myself wanting more of them. Stage has definitely been set for some potentially very good and large scale future conflicts.Ereshkigal's flashbacked timelost struggle to establish herself from obscurity in the Annunaki hierarchy at the height of their ancient power is compelling. Over time her cruelty and intelligence and power make her name that of a feared goddess still remembered rightfully with terror by humanity. It was a strong counterpart to the present day (future) action.Overall it was a good read and certainly leaves me wanting more of this uber-arc Axler is clearly developing. May those cold, cold-blooded lizards never find their lost Mothership!

Baron must like anything. With all due respect to him, and the writer, I hope and demand more from this series, and have been since the takeover of these two writers.Hell's Maw has a great cover. And sounded like this could be a very excellent novel.Unfortunately, Rik Hoskin has decided to give the fans mediocre. This book read more like a CSI episode than a post-holocaust Outlanders novel we used to know.I don't know about you, but I do not want CSI in my Outlanders. I don't want Grant not acting like himself. (Since when did he become so compliant?)Sorry, but if you think you are going to get with this novel an awesome action/adventure like the old days when Mark Ellis penned them, you won't. I love that Shizuka FINALLY makes herself part of the story, but all of these characters have just turned into Green Peace, bleeding heart of the World goodie too shoes. They just take wayyyyy too many chances on getting themselves killed over people they don't know nor whom care about them. They seemingly have lost all intelligent reason when it comes to dealing with obvious threats of varying kinds. For instance: Like book after book they keep bringing inferior weaponry when they have much more powerful ones back in the Cerberus armory. They take cheap trucks across dangerous known killing grounds when they can fly over with their mantas. Are you getting my drift? These writers think we readers are either stupid, or just think we forget what armaments and aircraft they have possessed for a long time.

I wanted to put it down but I couldn't stop reading it straight through. I found myself constantly looking over my shoulder while reading it. Look forward to the second part of this series.

Excellent read By marlac I really enjoyed this, but I do have to say that the only reason it did not get five stars is because the book is divided into four parts. I think this would be better as a whole. U read part 1 and at the end it totally leaves u hanging so u have to read book two and so on. But other than that it is excellent read. I am waiting on book four now.

You don't know Terror till you read this serial By Mallory Heart Reviews Review: IN ABSENTIA by Ambrose Ibsen[Black Acres Book One]For a totally scary reading experience, written lyrically with vivid imagery, Ambrose Ibsen's ongoing Black Acres serial is the way to go. I am reading these on Kindle Unlimited--in fact, I read IN ABSENTIA on Halloween, then THE BORDERLAND and THE AMBER LIGHT the next day. Husband and wife Julian and Kim, urban tenants, experience a financial windfall and purchase an extremely isolated country home. In the process of renovation in solitude, odd things turn up [strange photos, a mildewed journal, a concealed room]. Kim becomes obsessed with the previous owners, who'd constructed the home several decades ago, then disappeared nearly eight years ago. Recently declared deceased in absentia, the house became available for Kim and Julian. For Kim, it's as if the house and woods are alive, and long-disappeared Dakota Reed is directing Kim's quest.

What happens when the Milky Way and Andromeda galaxies collide? An instantaneous conflagration that nothing can survive? Not when you can sneak through a black hole.

When the Milky Way and Andromeda galaxies collide, Mickey Wittgen and Jansky Stein step forward to help guide the planet of Googol in the new Milkomeda Galaxy. Helping - or hindering - their efforts are the members of the 5G. Alas, there are wrinkles in any matrix.

Among the displaced is former Sandia National Laboratories employee Simon Derryberry, who still harbors guilt for having been slow to announce an asteroid hurtling toward former Earth. Could circumstances in the New New World lead - or mislead - him to become a hero? Perhaps with a little help from his neighbor, Cregz Liszt, and Andromeway receptionist Trending Bluffdale.

Meanwhile, one would be shortsighted to overlook the influence of Googol's poet laureate, Algore Rhythms, who seems to be in tune with - and, thus, find humor in - the machinations that comprise the world as we don't know it.

With all these forces in play, one could expect an ultimate showdown when Googolings perceive a betrayal of their trust in Wittgen and Stein. There being no OK Corral on Googol, one could further expect the ultimate showdown to take place in a courtroom. But how will Spencer Darro defend the duo in absentia? Just like the old New World, the New New World revolves around "isms," theories, math, and music.

Oh, and let's not forget the monkeys.

Googol, the Musical is the sequel to Earth, the Musical.

The Jan St. Louis narratives are lyrical By Gene Googol The Musical, as a literary journey, follows the characters through a time and a place where belief doesn’t matter. It’s a world where it’s difficult to determine whether everyday human perception is real or virtual as the characters uncover “lie-ability” within their experience of Googol reality. The story drags the reader down a virtual [or real?] rabbit hole into an online future with plenty of compelling and thought provoking adventures along the way. Is Googol, The Musical a comedy or a tragedy? Only you can decide. After you view this portrait of the Googol world you will never look at your advertisement impregnated computer screen the same way again. So, buckle up, hang on and enjoy this Jan St. Louis Word Play. Five stars aren't enough.

By Karen & Tony Barone How does the author live with herself with her brain being textured with every word in the dictionary and also telling her to make up her own as well as rearrange all the words already spoken for. She shares this genius with us throughout the book. Then there is the question of how she can deal with and give voice through the written word to all the absurdities and conundrums life has to offer. Eeny meeny miny moe catch life by the toe. The "real world" and the "computer generated reality world" she brings attention to in the book ARE one and the same. Heaven help all of us knowing, feeling, sensing everything, beings.

Jan St. Louis is a master when it comes to storytelling and character development. You will be drawn into the subplots and chuckle at the descriptive names of the characters and the acronyms for the various corporations.I took Googol, the Musical on a recent trip to Italy and found such enjoyment in reading (and sometimes re-reading) each chapter. It is a gem!

She goes back to Nico, unsure of how things stand between them, but knowing that standing by his side is the only thing she can do.Things take a drastic turn when Dante, the one man who frightened her more than anything, takes her brother hostage. Her brother means more to her than anything else in the world. She knows she now has no choice. She has to become part of the mob world that she has shunned for so long. However, time is running out. If they don’t find David, he might be taken from her too. Added to that, the passion between her and Nico is as white hot as ever and she has no choice but to give in to what her body, and her heart, want so very much…After reading Fearless by Michelle St. James, I thought I knew what to expect in Lawless: hot passion and a thrilling plot. I got that and more. Michelle manages not only to up the ante but to deepen the level of passion between Angel and Nico, something I thought impossible. It’s wonderful to see that she escapes the typical fat of the second book in a trilogy. Usually, the excitement has already happened and the middle book is a filler until we reach the last book so that it goes out with a big bang. Not so with Fearless. What’s also really well done about this book is the strengthening of Angelica’s character. She goes from a woman who is afraid but resolute to what is going on around her to a woman who knows that she’s now involved whether she likes it or not. She accepts that she’s part of the mob world, knowing her life is different now.Experiencing Angel come into her own and stand next to Nico was a wonderful thing. It made her character that much more believable, that much more amazing.I can’t count the number of times I was reading this book and was clutching my copy in glee or nervousness. Michelle takes you on a white-knuckle ride that will leave you breathless.More than all of that, though, is the deepening of the passion between Angel and Nico. It was on fire in Ruthless. Well, that passion has been taken up a few notches so now it’s an inferno. I marvel at her ability to create such amazing love scenes that it leaves even me hot under the collar. With the cliff-hanger at the end of the book, I am salivating for the release of Lawless: Mob Boss Book Three in October! I can’t wait to read Fearless for a second time and experience all the passion and danger all over again!

The chemistry between them is off the charts but it's their genuine emotional commitment that makes their story so gripping. The ending is stunning, perfectly setting up for what promises to be an explosive conclusion. Volume 3 can't come soon enough!

The story starts out 6 months later and Nico's empire is coming under greater attack. He has kept his distance to keep her safe, but when the violence comes to close to Nico, Angel has to see him. This books introduces a character you would want to follow in another story and we see more of Nico's underboss, Luca. The passion shared by Nico and Angel survived the months apart and grows in this book. The end is heart wrenching and you tell yourself that it can't possibly end that way. There was no hesitation I immediately went to book three Lawless: Mob Boss.

I plan to get the next Galactogon book when it gets released. Yet it didn't make a full 5 stars for me.There are different styles of LitRPG. I find the Korean books like Legendary Moonlight Sculptor and Ark spend a lot of time detailing how the protagonists grind endlessly to bring their characters from zero. I enjoy reading about this process, though it makes for a slower start. The Russian LitRPGs I've read tend to skip over such details as tedious. D. Rus' "Play To Live," for example, skipped the main character's grinding to level 30 with a bit of luck. This new addition by V. Mahanenko takes luck to a whole new level! There are no skills, stats, etc in Galactogon. Equipment is used for advancement. The protagonist in this story keeps moving from overpowered equipment to overpowered equipment, gained mostly through luck. It feels like wish fulfilment, or that the story should just have started with a high-level character. It was so pronounced as to almost be comedic, like the Japanese fairy tale of the farmer who stumbled on a piece of straw and then ended up a millionaire (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Straw_Millionaire). The saving grace of this book is that it was well written/translated and that the rest of the story (plot/action/drama/etc) was compelling. I am curious to see how the game unfolds, and the author does a good job of weaving drama between the game and real life. Be warned, however: the book ends on a cliffhanger!

Loved the way the book was written and found myself unable to put it down - my only break was actually having to sleep - but finished in the second sitting. The book brings you into a universe where I felt like I wanted to play the game myself - the mixing of Real Life and Game Play story lines was excellent and well balanced. My only regret is having to wait for book 2 - please tell me it's ready and waiting...... :-)

Always a pleasure to read a quality yarn. Everything simply clicked, from word one. It was total immersion until the bitter end. And bitter it was as the cliffhanger was sharp and brutal. I was tempted to remove a star because od that, but cliffhangers are a small price to pay after such an excellent adventure. whatever you need to write top quality litRPG is in the water in Russia. I need me some of that. Beautifully done.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. SERIOUSLY SEXY AND DELIGHTFULLY ENTERTAINING !!! By jlswainsboro/Judy Lewis Title: Exciting WeeksSeries: Alpha Billionaire Romance SeriesDesignation: Book Three of Multi-Installment Serial, NOT a StandaloneAuthor: Sarah J BrooksReading Platform: Kindle UnlimitedMy Rating: FIVE DELIGHTFULLY ENTERTAINING STARS *****Love it! Exciting Weeks is the third installment of Sarah J Brooks' brand spanking new serial and I must say, I'm totally captivated. Okay, I realize that multi-installment serials are not for everyone but what can I say, I love them. And Sarah Brooks just got my attention! This is my first time reading anything written by Brooks but I can say with absolute certainty, it won't be my last. I am so hooked on this series! I love the concept of this story: a strong female lead with BRAINS. She's not only beautiful but intelligent as well and the icing on the cake: she has a mind of her own. Of course, we all love a handsome alpha male lead and love them all the more when they're charming and intelligent. And let's not forget - filthy rich! Who can resist that combination??? The story is exciting, sensual, arousing, well crafted, interesting and held my attention. Once I started reading, it was easy to immerse myself in the story and I wanted more. The narrative is exceptionally well written in the first person with alternating his and her points of view, which I love. I believe this adds to the depth and complexity of the story and definitely gives us a better understanding of the characters, their feelings and motivations. The dialogue is smart, snappy, easy to follow and flows effortlessly. And now for the best part, the characters. They are fascinating, captivating, intriguing, engaging and relatable. The chemistry between the two lead characters is convincing and almost palpable. Quite simply, it is off the charts sexy. Brooks skillfully crafts these elements into a fabulously entertaining contemporary romance with a twist. What kind of twist, you ask? Well, it's a little too early to tell but I strongly suspect that we will have a little mystery and suspense in the near future. (And we do!) And please forgive me for being crass, but we didn't have to wait until halfway through the book for the mind-blowing sex! Oh no, Brooks rewarded us in the very first installment and gave us a little taste of how well suited these characters are for each other. I can hardly wait to read the next installment!Beautiful graduate student Becka Jasper is definitely on her way to a very promising and successful career. She's had to work hard for everything she has and intends to work even harder to get what she wants. When Oliver Weeks, CEO of Neuotova is invited to speak as a guest lecturer by Dr Evans, Becka's professor/advisor/mentor, she is able to snag an interview for an internship with Oliver Weeks, CEO of Neuotova, a major food research corporation. But Becka is immediately thrown off her game when she first sets eyes on Oliver Weeks and is more than just a little attracted to him. She immediately feels the chemistry between them and is conflicted over her decision to seek a job with the handsome, charismatic CEO. And it seems Oliver Weeks may be attracted to her as well. Oh my!Billionaire Oliver Weeks has worked long and hard to achieve his success. The only area in which he hasn't been successful is his personal life. He works hard but plays little and very seldom has time for a relationship with the fairer sex. Most of his dates are arranged by his personal assistant and never the same woman. He has no interest in love or developing feelings for anyone - until now. One look at Becka Jasper is all it takes for alpha male Oliver to know that he wants her and not just as an intern in his lab. She's not only beautiful but she's also brilliant. He wants her in his life as well as his bed and he's not accustomed to being told no. Oliver Weeks always gets what he wants and he wants Becka. Oh my! Will Oliver be able to convince Becka to accept his offer - both of them??? Hmm...I wonder???Book Two:Becka has accepted Oliver's requests for several dates and their chemistry is off the charts but she's still conflicted over accepting an internship with his company while having a personal relationship with the handsome CEO. She has little time to consider her dilemma when she's broadsided with some devastating news. Becka and Dr Evans have spent countless time and much effort on a special research project for Protame, a healthy replacement for the artificial sweetener Aspartame. Becka has worked tirelessly on this project and has also chosen it as the subject as her dissertation. The university has suffered budget cutbacks and as a result, they have lost funding for their project. Oh no! What will she do? Maybe she should tell Oliver. Will Oliver be able to help??? Oliver is more determined than ever to have the beautiful Becka in his bed and in his lab. And he's not above a little scheming and manipulation to get what he wants. But let's not forget, Becka has a mind of her own and may have a few surprises in store for the wealthy determined billionaire! It's a battle of wills and both are determined to get what they want but will it be each other??? Or are there other secrets and motivations at play? Hmm... I wonder???Book Three: Oliver weeks did indeed help the lovely Becka and donated the money anonymously to the University to fund her Protame project and of course he has his own selfish reasons. He wants Becka and if that means making her feel somewhat indebted to him, then so be it. He's certainly not above using every dirty trick in the book to get what he wants but he certainly never expected her proclamation of never mixing business with pleasure. She's refused to sleep with him if she accepts the position at Neuotova! Huh? Oh yes, she definitely laid the law down to him. But when had he ever allowed a little thing like an emphatic no to ever stop him from getting what he wants? Never! He'll do whatever it takes; he's determined to have the beautiful, intelligent Becka?Becka knows it was Oliver that donated the money but does finally agrees to accept the internship with Neuotova, but she has a caveat of her own. If she accepts the internship as a paid position, she will be unable continue her personal relationship with Oliver. What? Nope, her conscience won't allow it. She will not allow a personal relationship to compromise her work ethics. Or will she? While doing some research on Oliver and his company, Becka uncovers some very disturbing allegations against Oliver and his company Neuotova, allegations charging animal cruelty by the use use of animals in their research, experimentation and testing. Huh? Becka is a researcher after all so who better to investigate? Becka is invited by her advisor Dr Evans to teach a Food Science Ethics class and at her very first class she meets student Ethan Hernandez who makes some serious charges regarding the use of animal testing against Neuotova. But are they true or simply conjecture and who is Ethan Hernandez? There's only one way to discover the truth and if it means more research into company files, then that's a chance she's willing to take. She just hadn't expected a perfect opportunity to fall into her lap when Oliver offers her a job as his assistant and a two week working vacation to Italy. Huh? Oh my! Can she work so closely with him and still be objective? I think not! No spoilers from me but I will say this....Beautiful intelligent grad student with a mind of her own-check! Handsome alpha male billionaire who refuses to take no for an answer-check! Some very serious animal abuse, cruelty and experimentation allegations-check! A little mystery, suspense and a few secrets-check! Heated attraction, fiery passion, instant chemistry and steamy dreamy sex-you bet! That and a whole lot more! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!

But I found an error with the authors story. In the first installment, Becka said her mom died when she was sixteen. In the fourth installment, while they're in Italy, Becka says she going to read her email from her mom and her best friend. Now is she speaking of her best friends mom or her mom who had supposedly died. Seems to me she speaking of her own mom. I don't know, maybe the author can clear that up for me. Other than that I seem to like the story so far. I would recommend this series to would be readers if you like sexy, mysterious alpha men.
