I plan to get the next Galactogon book when it gets released. Yet it didn't make a full 5 stars for me.There are different styles of LitRPG. I find the Korean books like Legendary Moonlight Sculptor and Ark spend a lot of time detailing how the protagonists grind endlessly to bring their characters from zero. I enjoy reading about this process, though it makes for a slower start. The Russian LitRPGs I've read tend to skip over such details as tedious. D. Rus' "Play To Live," for example, skipped the main character's grinding to level 30 with a bit of luck. This new addition by V. Mahanenko takes luck to a whole new level! There are no skills, stats, etc in Galactogon. Equipment is used for advancement. The protagonist in this story keeps moving from overpowered equipment to overpowered equipment, gained mostly through luck. It feels like wish fulfilment, or that the story should just have started with a high-level character. It was so pronounced as to almost be comedic, like the Japanese fairy tale of the farmer who stumbled on a piece of straw and then ended up a millionaire (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Straw_Millionaire). The saving grace of this book is that it was well written/translated and that the rest of the story (plot/action/drama/etc) was compelling. I am curious to see how the game unfolds, and the author does a good job of weaving drama between the game and real life. Be warned, however: the book ends on a cliffhanger!

Loved the way the book was written and found myself unable to put it down - my only break was actually having to sleep - but finished in the second sitting. The book brings you into a universe where I felt like I wanted to play the game myself - the mixing of Real Life and Game Play story lines was excellent and well balanced. My only regret is having to wait for book 2 - please tell me it's ready and waiting...... :-)

Always a pleasure to read a quality yarn. Everything simply clicked, from word one. It was total immersion until the bitter end. And bitter it was as the cliffhanger was sharp and brutal. I was tempted to remove a star because od that, but cliffhangers are a small price to pay after such an excellent adventure. whatever you need to write top quality litRPG is in the water in Russia. I need me some of that. Beautifully done.
