17 of 18 people found the following review helpful. DNF By twisted Painful read. At ten percent I had to ask myself why was I continuing, the characters weren't interesting in the slightest. Sentences short, choppy, and unimaginative. Really it kind of read like a recipe or maybe a list. If you wanted any sort of creative description you have to supply it yourself. Best thing about this was the synopsis. So I'm telling ya here. Read it and enjoy it, then move along.

Repetitive and slow By BeeKay Blake was really hard to warm up to and there was so much time spent with the characters fighting their feelings that by the time it finally happened I was exhausted. The steamy scenes were very repetitive, did I mention they were repetitive? Seriously, I think Blake needs a teething ring with as much biting as he does throughout this book. Kat's a woman not a chew toy. I get the whole alpha billionaire control thing but really, can he do anything but growl and bite? Kat is supposed to come off this strong independent woman, but she really seemed like a doormat most of the book. Being in her head the entire time was like being trapped in an elevator being forced to listen to the same song repeat for hours (or something equally heinous). Notice there is a theme...repetition. I know what the author wanted to get across in this book but I just didn't feel it. It just feel flat, on repeat. Also, as the book progressed the editing got worse. I started to notice more errors. I can't say I hated the book, I just didn't like it. Meryl, Blake's mom was the best part of the entire book. I really liked her character.

The sex scenes were totally HOT and my favorite part. I also loved most of the characters especially Meryl, Blake's Mom. Kat and her sister are great and play off each other well. Would have liked to have heard more from Blake although his dominance is hot as hell!Could have done without the repetition of the 3 words in a row. I didn't feel very connected to this story and felt the ending was a bit rushed, however it was a beautiful HEA.

About the Author Born 1958, Boulogne-Billancourt, France, writer, artist, musician, published Les Maléfices du fardeau d'Atlas-his first book of poetry was published in 1985. He has written five novels, including The Big Jiggety (Xlibris, 2005) and Pop the Plug (Xlibris 2012). Also his verse has been published in The Poet's Domain. This story is a reflection on the coming-of-age of a recent college graduate trying to make his way in the world. Life, love, and career unfold in an entertaining tale of introspection. I recommend reading the first two volumes to better appreciate this one. Three thumbs up!

By onealski In Michael Kent’s wonderful new novel, All of the Night, we follow the adventures of a young man, Albert Nostran, fresh from college where he earned a degree in English, who moves to Washington, DC, to find his bliss in job and romance. It’s not the plot alone that makes this such a fascinating read; it’s the author’s erudite and humorous style. Because he grew up in France and is fluent in the language, Albert lands a job at the Universal Wire Service, a French press, where he works the night shift. While he struggles to establish a name for himself, he also finds someone to room with, an obnoxious American who is too hale, too hearty, too dense. Albert meanwhile looks for romance and seems to have a beacon directing him to all the wrong ladies. When he is fired from the wire service, he optimistically seeks a more perfect employment,. Instead he lands the crap job many young people have had, as a Time-Life salesman. Later on, he takes a Temp position where he files papers alphabetically in a room with no windows. Eventually, he finds better roommates and perhaps because he is so young, he never gives up on himself, even applying for work at a delicatessen. He doesn’t get the job, though he assures the owner that he has invented a sandwich. She doesn’t ask what that sandwich might be, perhaps just as well, as it consists of canned corn kernels on white bread with mayonnaise. Meanwhile, his artistic mind is clicking mental pictures. In a scene I love, Albert goes back to the family home and looks through his Dad’s desk . There he finds a series of his old man’s passport pictures. The author writes: “Beyond graying and loss of hair, beyond the wrinkles was the transformation of the eyes. In the beginning, on the sepia photograph, one could see hope, dreams, energy, good looks; the following, black-and-white period, displayed a certain roguishness, not to say cynicism, a sounder knowledge of life, perhaps even better looks, bushier eyebrows as well; in the end: color, regrets, and an attempt to smile.” There’s so much I admire about Kent’s book. The surprise of a verb: “The cab splashed away, gulped by the night.” His effervescent humor: “Nothing is quite as sexy as a woman saying, ‘no. you shouldn’t,’ while licking her chops, with moist eyes, quivering nostrils, and vibrating lips, implying ‘ go ahead, you animal, you.’” His artistic sensibilities: …”I walked up the smooth incline whose stately buildings—some of them, and the blonde Mayflower Hotel in particular…and sporadic elms, were still lightly brushed by the late afternoon sun like in a Monet painting.” His constant observations of humanity: “She laughed, displaying a fine row of teeth, the kind dentists’ nightmares are made of…” His description of the building with no windows: “A handsome structure that would make Hitler’s bunker look like a rococo extravagance.” I could select many more passages, but I want you to find them for yourselves. I guarantee you will be laughing and nodding and cheering on the hapless hero from page 1 to page 191. Michael Kent is truly a great writer and his art, scattered throughout the book, delightfully enhances the reader’s experience.

It's really the best read I've had in a long time. How nice to have a book that makes you laugh and gets you involved in the character, keeping you up half the night reading it because you can't put it down, without murders, monsters or creatures from outer space. Not that I have ever read those, ha ha. Well, maybe one or two or 10. It's the kind of book where you trip over a sentence and you have to go right away and read it to someone. Hats off, a genius.

By LB Johnson I've used the term "couldn't put it down" before but in actuality - one DOES put the book down, to grab a sandwich; to let the dog out. Not this time.I downloaded the kindle and hours later, had not left my seat. Ms. Spindler has created a tightly woven thrill ride---one I didn't want to get off of. I have read so many books where "who did it" was evident long before the last page but the author weaves her characters and plot details so intricately, that there are no glaring "aha!" moments that spoil the suspense halfway through the book. The conclusion was more than believable - it was a complete surprise and a satisfying end to a masterfully told story.

It's probably up there as a favorite of hers and that has nothing to do with my special connection to the book. I really liked the story ... really liked it. It's about a young woman who meets a wonderful man while on a vacation in the Caribbean. It's love at first sight, they get married and he brings her home to his family farm where she slowly starts to piece together the life her husband led before they met. There's the mystery of his first wife and how she disappeared, and the chilling fact that other women have gone missing in a similar fashion. All signs point to Bailey's new husband but ... is it really possible that her Prince Charming has a very twisted dark side?You have to read this book. I was guessing the entire time. It was practically until the very end. You'll think you know, and then you don't know. But then you think you know again .... Just read it.

While well written, there is little of the psychological thrills that were predominantly featured in her other novels. Where were the glimpses into the sick and twisted minds that I've come to expect from this author? Unfortunately, simply not there. Again, this isn't a poorly written novel, and it was a book I was able to read from start to finish, I just found it lacking in the suspense and thrills department when compared to earlier novels.Erica Spindler remains one of my favourite authors, and this book won't turn me away from reading her, but hopefully future novels will pack a better punch than this one did.

Gaia Miller has gotten a job in his club to find out if he might be responsible for her half-sister's death. Gregori knows from the moment that he meets her that she is up to something. He also knows that he wants her. Danger surrounds them both as old enemies return.OPINION: There is much to like in this novel. Gregori and Gaia have an intense relationship. I liked this book. For its genre, it is a good book. It is not a deep book but it has an interesting story and some good characters. I liked the action in the story and the relationship. I thought that the characters have similar strong willed demanding personalities that match one another well.WORTH MENTIONING: For fans of Dair and Kat from SHADOW ALPHA, they make an appearance here.FINAL DECISION: This was a good story and similar in tone and structure to the others in the series. I enjoyed the interaction between Gregori and Gaia especially with their contentious relationship.CONNECTED BOOKS: MIDNIGHT ALPHA is the fourth book in the ALPHA series. They are all good, but, this is the best one.Gaia starts working at a club that Gregori owns. Gaia stepsister had died of a drug overdose. She thinks she was murdered by someone at the club. The opening scene finds Gaia underneath Gregori desk looking for evidence. He walks in and wants to know what she is doing and the fun begins. Both the hero and heroine are great. Sexy dialogue and great sex scenes.Definitely worth it!

By Alexia Janie Evans "Midnight Alpha" by Carole Mortimer is a suspenseful thriller. I usually don't read thrillers but this book was very enjoyable. It made my heart race, and I didn't want to put it down. We have Gregori Markovic who is head honcho in the Russian side of the London mafia, and Gaia Miller who got a job at his club because she's investigating the death of her sister. The chemistry between these two is amazing despite the fact that each of them are strong minded individuals.

It kept my attention as if I was in a trance and continuously had me wanting more. I just could not put the book down. I needed to know how the story ended, however when I got to the end, it totally threw me for a loop. This book was interesting, thrilling, exciting and oh so truthful. It touched on heighten issues that really had me thinking, "what would I do in this situation? Could I take it? Would I be strong? Do I really know my self worth?" It was truly a great read. This author can definitely stand with the best of them!

Brock and Sarah By Karli Earlier in the series we meet Brock Gamble, the second in command at Titan, headed by Jared Weston, his friend, boss, and mentor. But Brock has a secret even Jared doesn't know about- Brock has a family he has hidden away to protect them from the evil he deals with on his job. Sarah and the girls are his life. And then the phone call comes. His family has been kidnapped. If he tells Jared, they die. Brock makes the decision to comply, even though it means he is betraying his teammates and putting Sugar' s life on the line. But when the terms of getting his family back change, Brock goes to Jared and admits all. Now his family is safe, but they have left him. He is alone and drinking himself into a stupor. When some of his friends from Titan show up and pull an intervention, Brock has a choice to make. Get sober and go after Sarah or continue with death by alcohol.While this novella answers the questions about Brock, Sarah is very prominent in the storyline. She is not the complacent stay at home mom she was pre-abduction. She has PTSD, she doesn't want to go back to her "safe" life, and she isn't sure she even knows the husband she thought was a superhero.Cristin Harber does not disappoint. This is another exceptional book in a first class series. I can't recommend it highly enough.

It's short but it was packed with so much love, steam, and on the edge of your seat action. I loved Brock and Sarah...they brought a whole new meaning to steamy! My heart broke with Brock's and the road to recovery was such a great one! BRING ON MORE TITAN LOVE!!!

He wanted to do rght by his family but lived to regret some his choices. Sarah and the children were scared half to death and learned first hand how dangerous Brock's job is. The aftermath was devastating to them both but it was obvious that they still loved each other. It was beautiful watching them find each other again. Seeing them work together showed just how well they really knew one another. The "more" was great. Even 10 years in their marriage was still hot!!

As in most short stories you cannot say too much or it gives the story away. It was a pleasant listen that is entertaining over a man who doesn’t have a style finding away to get to the heart of the lady he lovesMax was just a dearly of a man who doesn’t have a clue how to make a girl like him. Jen doesn’t like the way he is treated and decides to give him a helping hand. Both of these character are wonderful and the story very believable. The supporting characters are nice and add to the story. There really wasn’t anyone I really didn’t like.Susan Soriano does a good job with the narration but there is some kind of noise in the background. Once you get into the story you do not notice it. She did a good job with the characters and their voices. She put good emotions in the listen you had no trouble working out who was talking or what they were feeling. She has a clear and pleasant voice you will enjoy.This is the first time I have listen or read anything by this author I thought she did a great job getting her point across with very good writing. As with most short stories I found the ending a little rushed. It was a wonderful ending that you won’t see coming. The whole book will make you smile and at times make you chuckle. It was a pleasure listening to how things went and how the geek got the girl. The question is which one he truly wants. I recommend you give this a listen for those times when you have something small to do and might not have the time to really set. It can easy be listened to at one setting and is very entertaining.

She comes to the aid of Max, a geeky, high school classmate. Max is desperate to date Mikayla, a girl he has been crushing on since high school. Jen has decided to help Max win his girl. Max was a "brainiac" at high school, but has filled out to a handsome man. She is willing to help Max, even though Mikayla is not a nice person.A cute story. It has been eight years since they graduated high school and are finally realizing that people from their past are not what they remembered. The ending leaves the story open.

The problem is somewhere along the way Jen starts to fall for Max? Jen and Max’s love story starts out subtle and gradually progresses taking them both by surprise. The Beginning of a Fairytale of Empowerment By Joseph This creative and motivational story brings us the Sun King and Ice Queen who have a daughter, Princess Isabelle of the Kingdom Xamayca. Unlike her mother, Isabelle has no interest in being a “nice girl” and a “lady.” Instead, she swims, rides bareback, and shoots arrows with her hound Xerxes, horse Phillippides, and bird Almitra. This first story is about Isabelle’s birth and growth to ultimately get the courage to leave her home to embark on an adventure. There were a number of clever elements in this story. For example, at her birth, Isabelle realizes babies can’t speak because they possess all information from the cosmos, and that is too much information to carry with them. Also, rather than being swept away by Prince Charming, Isabelle meets the unimpressive Prince Charmant. The author’s message in the preface rings true throughout the story, “We find true happiness and love when fully awake and owning our power.” This is an intelligent, well written story by Nicole Cutts with gorgeous illustrations by Wayne Rodney. I look forward to Isabelle’s adventure in book II.

By donna king Dr. Cutts weaves a delightful yet poignant web of emotional, spiritual, and intellectual themes that many of us can relate to. I found the characters and their relationships compelling and their experiences moved me. Unfulfilled expectations of parents, unconditional love, and thwarted affections all play a role in this tale, which was unexpected and touching. I could relate to Isabelle’s feelings and applauded her individuality, strength and courage. I think that this would be an excellent book for any woman, young or old, to learn from. The illustrations are also quite unique and add to the “other worldliness” of the story. I am truly looking forward to the next volume to see what is next for Princess Isabelle.

Dr. Cutts is a good writer and the story was well-crafted and compelling. It is especially helpful for young women (and old ones, like me!) to be exposed to strong females who overcome adversity and find their inner strength. Dr. Cutts is a dynamic professional whose life coaching and Visionquest retreats have helped many people on their own heroic quests. "The Adventures of Isabelle" complement her work and can help all of us find our own callings. I look forward to Books II and III!

Bullard When we worked together in TV, John Beckman was a pilot, amateur radio operator, and a fellow motorcycle enthusiast. Now I discover my old friend has written several books.His latest is called "September Song." And here I discovered his vast knowledge of boats. However, "Song" is really not a book on boating. You might consider the boat in the story an added character in this tale of a wealthy man who, due to problems he can't resolve, seeks escape by giving up a life of plenty and walking blindly into an adventurous new existence. If you have never read Vanessa Booke's work, now is the time to start. Tristan is best friends with Nicholas StoneHaven (Bound To You series). He was raised a part of the family, but how do you fall in love with your best friends little sister when you are raised with them as a brother? This story begins prior to the Bound To You series and gives you more insight into Nicholas StoneHaven's past but it actually about Tristan and his life, beginning from his childhood, it takes you through his life and what made him. The only constant in his life it seems, is the person who should be off limits but who has captured not only his heart but his every thought. His best friends little sister, Emily. How do you cross that line? How do you allow yourself to take a bite of that forbidden fruit? Oh, but Tristan does that and so much more! This is another brilliant series by Vanessa Booke. If you haven't had the chance to get to know her work...I would do it now. In my opinion, I would start with this series then move to the Bound To You series...both series are now complete (with the final book of the Bound To You series due out September 25th). You will love these books and I dare you not to fall in love with Tristan and Nicholas...as well as their lovely ladies! I dare you not to fall in love with Vanessa Booke and her superb writing, her wonderful story lines and her not so much the norm, leading ladies. Trust me when I say, you will not be disappointed!

An adept title for the pull that I felt throughout the storytelling. It's got a soft, alluring style that conveys easily all kinds of settings and emotions.I liked the sweetness that Tristan and Emily had when they were children, not long before their pseudo family was shattered by social status and broken hearts. It was a stark contrast to the bold sexuality that Tristan practiced when he grew up, all bitter and hurt.When they finally reunite under the same roof, Emily is still underage, but their bond is intact and now laced with a deeper need. I loved the sensations I got from that part in the story. There is an intense sense of sensuality from their forbidden relationship. He fights it, she doesn't know how to deny her longing for him. It felt explosive, and dangerous, when they cross the lines. And, oh my, that's an unforgettable moment! But seriously, how could he NOT know?!2. Tender and sad, it starts with the aftermath of a life-changing impulse between Tristan and Emily. Soon, tragedy strikes and Tristan makes a decision that alters their lives again. That was expected, I guess, but it was painful to put everything on hold again. I had to be patient to see his ill-fated couple reignite their relationship once more.In this installment, the emotions are bubbling: guilt, pain, unfulfilled desire. I admit I'm not a fan of Tristan's manwhore ways, but I do feel drawn to his broken feelings and his ill-advised belief that keeping away from Emily means saving her. And he's an artist, have to love that!Oh, but fate has a way of pushing them together, and I loved that. I wish it had been a longer scene at the Pleasure Chest, though. Anyway, the anguish that burns between them because of their impossible love was so powerful!Sometimes, I was quite frustrated with how many times he rejects her. And in the end, when he relents, it felt more lust than love. But hey, I'm a hopeless romantic ;o) Anyway, it was hot and I'm curious to see how it all ends for them.Favourite Quote: It's as if my skin is a blank canvas and Tristan's whip is the brush.3. Passion has broken loose between Tristan and Emily. It's thrilling, taunting, and they can't seem to either sate their need or clarify their feelings. Secrets and guilt keep Tristan at a distance from her, and she's plagued with doubts over him staying with her for good. I felt everything from them as if it were happening to me.There is a plot twist that pulls them to the brink of despair, which I really liked as it adds a great deal of emotional drama. With so much commotion and betrayal, I was glued to the story. The sensual scenes were hot, though I felt that the ending was a bit rushed, yet utterly romantic.I really enjoyed reading this series in one go. Very passionate. Tristan is so Sexy, and and I just want him to whisper dirty little things to me. *** sigh *** I really enjoyed this book, and even how it has set everything up for his and Lily Pads relationship. Once again Vanessa has left me wanting more..In Volume 1 you are going to see what makes Tristan tick and what makes him the way he is in present day. Let's just say, he has some hard life experiences. And, with Emily you are going to see just how long she has wanted him from the time he stepped into her life. They have a nice little game of cat and mouse, and I really can't wait for the predator to catch his prey. I am beyond ready for Volume 2 and to see where this is going to lead them. I really hope that you fall in love with their story like I have, and it's a quick and fun read!! I swear I read this in two hours tops!VOLUME 2:I can't even describe the love I have for Vanessa and he characters. Her stories are sensual,captivating, and will leave you giddy like a school girl. You would be crazy not to get this series, and if you haven't read Bound To You it is a must!Let me introduce you to my Tristan Knight, this walking sex God is a beautiful masterpiece. Once he whispers in your ear it would be game over! But, he has eyes for the only one he shouldn't dare to even look at. Knowing that she should just walk away from him, but knowing her life won't be complete without him. These two have gone through so much in their lives together, and separately I pray they get their HEA that they deserve. Oh and I can't wait for Nicholas to find out, I hope he won't be to mad.
