American Bitch is a divorce, revenge comedy. With Laredo, Texas providing the backdrop, the story chronicles a couple's tumultuous relationship as it crumbles into disunion. Sadie and Jethro are the most popular twosome in town - well to do and handsome -. They complement each other spectacularly well, but then things change...

The alteration is for the worse, when the two try to destroy each other. Jethro seeks revenge after he finds out that Sadie has been unfaithful to him, and she tries to pick on his insecurities when she seeks to move on with her new lover.

The result is an utter undoing but not as expected.

Born in Laredo, Texas in 1958, Raúl Casso is a lawyer and a writer. Beginning with a monthly column in a local magazine, Raúl wrote articles on biblical skepticism and metaphysics for two decades which led him to expand his writing endeavors culminating in this, his first novel. Other works are underway.

When not writing, Raúl enjoys playing ragtime piano. Happily married to his wife Nahyr, who works hard to allow Raúl the free time to so indulge, Raúl Casso is the father of five boys: Raúl, Alexander, Andreas, Philip, and Sebastian.

1 of 2 people found the following review helpful. A Brilliant New Novel By Kingzi Raul Casso has created a full-on masterpiece, on par with Hemingway and Faulkner, interwoven with the modern satire of a Bret Easton Ellis.American Bitch is a robust, affectionate chronicle of one man's journey through the pain of marriage, divorce, infidelity, hypocrisy, lies and desperation. Written with unfailing precision and beauty, American Bitch stakes out new territory different from the writers I noted above to whom Casso could be compared. It’s all at once both insightful and entertaining, edgy and poignant, and grippingly funny. In a lesser author’s hand, the book could’ve become a mangled mess as the layers of estrangement between the main characters unfolds, but the story, as told through Jethro’s unique voice and perspective, reels you in from the very beginning. The quality of the writing and the sincerity of the characters’ struggles to redeem themselves carry the book through to an unexpected conclusion. And woven into the main story are the amusing side characters who give contrasting perspectives on events and enlarge the hectic Tex-Mex canvas that Casso successfully paints. It’s striking that all the novel’s characters, so perfect on the outside, all fail to live up to even the vaguest semblance of the elusive American Dream.I found the novel offers up an intriguing mix of farcical and dry humor, with the book’s true strength being that its small doses manage not to diminish the impact of the novel’s core events. Choice turns of phrase, smart satirical observations, and hyperbolic anecdotes, give the novel an eminent re-readability and high entertainment value.Credit also goes to Casso for crafting a novel that seamlessly merges an unusually informative account of a Texas city’s historical attributes into a powerful, moving piece of fiction. In Casso’s skillful hands, the colorful and complex world of Laredo, a fast-rising Texas border town, from the parochial ranchers to the gossipy society gals, through the several layers thick social strata that comprise what Casso calls the “the raucous” city, springs to life in all of its glorious detail, as he brilliantly uses the town as the central metaphor in the book.Casso’s unique style and ability to articulate the emotions of a relationship’s separation and struggle, render him, more than simply a regional author, but, in my opinion, an author of international scope.A remarkable book that one is not likely to forget, American Bitch may be the defining novel of our generation, and Casso has shown he may be one of the most important authors of the past 50 years.

By Eduardo Rios I really like this novel which has a marvelous cover design and tells a daily bread story of two people in conflict, narrated in a very subtle and masterfully funny way which makes you fully enjoy the story to the last line!!!
