The Destroyermen series continues from the New York Times bestselling author of Straits of Hell. The ambitious, long-planned raid on the Grik Empire has grown dangerously ill defined. Only Matthew Reddy, commander of the old destroyer USS Walker, seems focused on the original intent. While many Lemurians see an opportunity to reconquer their stolen homeland, others—Lemurian and human—have their own agendas, which could compromise the Alliance. Complicating matters further is Reddy’s suspicion that his task force is being stalked by some unknown power bent on aiding the Grik for reasons of its own.As the raid begins and chaos reigns, Reddy has no choice but to risk everything in a desperate act that results in a sprawling, nightmare battle on the beaches of “Grik City,” on the very decks of Walker, and in the labyrinthine passageways of the Celestial Palace itself. The final cost could be more than Matt Reddy—or the Alliance—can bear.

By joseph r. thorsky When one tries to give "war" a form, a substance and a meaning that is explainable and comprehensible to those of a generation of Americans who have grown and never really experienced or lived it, is difficult enough today, where "war" is just expected to be antiseptically clean, short lived and perfectly fought under rules and behaviors universally agreed to, expected and followed.Taylor Anderson's latest "Deadly Shores" novel captures "war" as it truly is, and not what we would wish, want or believe it should be. War is humanity and the human condition with all its virtues and its vices, the inspirational and the depressing and all the good and the bad; beautiful and ugly that makes us so much alike and different at the same time. His efforts to capture and describe this essence and state is "Right on target!"(Without the aid of a Norton bombsight) and is indeed deserving of a nodding and the silent smiling approving words of thanks from that special World War II generation of Americans (The Best we had to give) who are slowly but inevitably passing and leaving the World's Stage. Although they may be gone and have left us, it is their everlasting legacy and our own true inheritance which is reflected and demonstrated by our own frail and fragile humanness and the idealism and the reverence that goes from being an "American" that Taylor Anderson correctly identifies in "Deadly Shores".I highly recommend this novel and the entire series to anyone who has a passion for science fiction and history with this cautionary admonition."Warning! Highly Addictive when Read."

By Olin The 9th book in the series - and turning into a never-ending story. There seems to be a trend of such series by a number of prominent authors; i.e., keep publishing as long as they sell. A deadly foe that never is quite defeated or new enemies cropping up whenever one is on the way out. For a new reader, I have no problem recommending the first book in the series - as long as the reader then decides whether they want to continue from there with a series that may never end. By the 9th book there is little new character development. There is also more actions/behavior in this one that makes a reader sit back and think, "Huh?" "That's unbelievable" "I don't buy that behavior/speech", etc. However, having said those things, I still rather liked the book - at least by the criteria of interesting battles and wanting to know more what happens next. Attribute it to the skill of the author. The endless nature of the series and flaws in this volume want me to give it two stars, but four stars for keeping me interest: (2+4)/2=3.

7 of 8 people found the following review helpful. I liked the early books but now the series is beginning to seem like a soap opera, unending and with no resolution in sight. By John B. I liked the alternate world concept and the books have some good characters. However, as the series has progressed the author has invented more and more enemies to keep the conflict going. It is beginning to turn into a "war porn" series. For those who love battle scenes and lots of gore this would be a good read.

Days of Rage: A Pike Logan Thriller, by Brad Taylor

From Booklist In the post-Snowden era, espionage becomes trickier. When the ultrasecret counterterrorism unit called Taskforce tracks a radical Islamist Nigerian in Europe, it finds itself a target. Two of its members are killed, and Pike Logan is after whoever is responsible. But first Taskforce must get a thumb drive with material about the massacre of Israeli athletes at the 1972 Olympics, information that could incriminate the current U.S. director of National Intelligence and that MOSSAD agents also are after. As Americans and Israelis join forces, their common enemy is the Russian FSB, whose members are intent on doing damage to the U.S. by using the Nigerian, who has been armed with a dreadful weapon. Adding to the intrigue, Pike discovers a mole deep in the U.S. intelligence apparatus. In this sixth entry in the Pike Logan series, former Delta Force officer Taylor combines up-to-the-minute spy craft with musings about the morality of murder, even when justified, and shows that the latest gadgetry still can’t replace human intuition and skill. Another exciting spy thriller from an author who knows the territory. --Michele Leber

Review “A Pike Logan thriller filled with heart-thumping action and insane heroics...A fun, satisfying adventure.”—Kirkus Reviews (starred review)“Former Delta Force officer Taylor combines up-to-the-minute spy craft with musings about the morality of murder, even when justified, and shows that the latest gadgetry still can’t replace human intuition and skill. Another exciting spy thriller from an author who knows the territory.”—Booklist“Taylor is adept at combining past tragedies, like the terrorist attack on the 1972 Munich Olympics, with more recent developments, like the Snowden disclosures, and tracking the geopolitical changes in between. Throw in modern technology, gunfights, hand-to-hand combat, and a daring race to prevent a disaster that would make the Munich Olympics attack pale by comparison, and you have a thriller that really thrills.”—Publishers Weekly

Shaking up the series (4.5 stars) By TChris Just when I thought Brad Taylor was running out of gas, telling a story that was too similar to other Taskforce novels, he decided to shake up the series. I won't say what happens, but it triggers the dark rage that Pike Logan thought his team member and lover Jennifer had tamed. The last half of the novel is intense. Two storylines weave together. One involves Russia's FSB, which wants to send a Nigerian terrorist to execute a plan that is intended to damage the United States. The plan is farfetched but I guess I can accept that the FSB might believe it would work. When the FSB creates problems for the Taskforce, Pike Logan and his usual team members travel to Bulgaria to learn what the Nigerian is planning. The other storyline involves Russian intelligence secrets that Mossad is trying to buy. A flash drive holding those secrets contains information that might be embarrassing to the United States government. Pike's team is redirected to recover the flash drive before Mossad can get it. As usual, Pike has his own agenda.Pike pursuing an unauthorized mission of his own is beginning to feel like a formula but, so far, it is a successful formula. And as noted above, Taylor shakes up the formula with a surprising plot twist that forces Pike to realize how much he depends on Jennifer for a sense of balance while forcing Jennifer to realize how living a violent life is changing her in ways she fears. As always, Taylor has a realistic and nuanced view of his heroes and villains. Taylor understands that the Taskforce would be called the "secret police" in other nations. Days of Rage illustrates our "confusing new world" in which allies and enemies are often difficult to distinguish. The tension between the interests of Mossad and those of the United States, as well as a debate about whether endless cycles of killing actually keep people safe, provide some of the novel's most interesting moments. Taylor's point of view is a refreshing break from the simplistic worldviews offered by too many thriller writers. I also appreciate the moral center that Jennifer brings to the story. Of course, the high tech gadgetry, fistfights, and chases are fun too. If I could, I would give Days of Rage 4 1/2 stars.

The clandestine operations of the Task Force are up to their mission (s) in this latest scamper. Starting out in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, the plot quickly thickens. A Nigerian named Usman Akimbo and a member of the Boko Haran, is recruited by the Russians to assist in a sinister plot. A portion of the team will go to Berlin and eventually on to Brazil in search of a lethal weapon of mass destruction. The members of the Oversight Council for the Task Force once again have doubts about the Task Force. A special vote is needed to keep a "green light" on their current ops. Action will intensify with the added inclusion of the Israelis and a mole from long ago.The high tech gadgetry that the team utilized is impressive. And, the skills of the members using improvisation when none is available shows the talent of this Task Force. Jennifer comes to my mind and more than once....Russia's motive for getting the US involved in this fray rings so true - especially with the events in today's world.Personally, I found it to be a fascinating read that was full of high octane energy! The entire novel was action packed on many fronts and the plot was outstanding. I loved the characters on my team and I despised the ones on the other side. The end of the mission in Brazil was a leap of "faith" and I loved that, as well. Most highly recommended.

The topics are relevant to the current day, and the characters are engaging. I especially liked the Israeli counterparts that were introduced in this book. It provided for a nice change of pace and gave some new working dynamics to the relationships. This was well written, and the action flowed throughout the book as the plot unfolded. The other aspect that I really enjoyed was that the threat was not of Afghani or Middle Eastern Islamic Jihad origins. Brad Taylor did a good job reminding the world that there are other real threats to our safety and security. This was easily one of the top ten books I have read this year.

From the New York Times bestselling author of Cocoon (which was made into an Academy Award–winning movie) comes a sci-fi adventure about family, love, and, in a universe teeming with life, deciding who and what are the aliens.Six single, semi-retired, “older” women are inseparable friends. But their lives start to go haywire when mischievous Rosie submits her friends’ names to an ad soliciting “Mail Order Brides for Farmers & Miners—Distant Locations.” A few weeks later, as the six women are driving along a lonely beach road, their vehicle suddenly begins to shake, the sky grows dark, an eerie light envelops the van, and ZAP—it’s gone! Exactly three years later, the van reappears on the same road. But this time, the women appear to be thirty years younger—and they’re all pregnant! The “distant locations” advertised were, in fact, elsewhere in our galaxy. A process, required for deep space travel, has somehow reversed their aging. They are happy with their new lives. However, a universal law requires that babies of “mixed-mating” be born on the mother’s home planet, forcing their return. But as they re-adapt to life on earth, surprises and problems arise as they’re faced with a media circus, doctors, nurses, police, priests, and nuns, not to mention their new humanoid mates. In Saperstein’s wacky, comedic-drama tradition that’s out of this world, Snatched builds to an exciting, uplifting climax that celebrates life, love, and the universal condition known as family.

He yields an all too often ignored perspective on our place in the universe. I adored his subtle humor woven throughout and the emergence of the unexpected. He gives voice to ambivalent viewpoints without judgement. I hope there will be a sequel and I expect this will be a major motion film.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Does not Disappoint. By Carmen Blankenship I had high hopes for Snatched by David Saperstein because I adored the movie Cocoon when I was younger. I remember watching it with my Dad and hearing him laugh. Funny how songs, books, and movies make a childhood memory more vivid. Snatched didn't disappoint.Anyway, Snatched is similar to Cocoon in that there are extraterrestrial elements and has a group of friends who are elderly. It is also similar in its humor, warmth, and feel good ending. I adored it and would definitely recommend it.The premise of this Sci-fi book does trust that you are willing to suspend belief and take a journey with six friends who happen to be in their 70's. These women are all vivacious and take a journey of a lifetime. It's so hard to.write what really happens without making it sound ridiculous!Ok I will try. These women go to outerspace after having met aliens through a mail order bride site!!! I know I know it sounds bonkers. Ok, will it make it worse if I tell you they get pregnant and must return to Earth to have their offspring?Sigh.... I hope I didn't lose you because as silly as it all sounds this book was so much fun and had so much heart. I truly laughed out loud and looked forward to reading at the end of a long work day.Just remember Cocoon and expect a more of the same. That's a good thing. A very good thing. Thanks to Netgalley and Atria Books for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. engaging characters that are incredibly fun and vivacious By SciFiChick Fans of Cocoon will definitely want to pick up this latest science fiction novel by the same author. The six residents of a retirement community are all unique, engaging characters that are incredibly fun and vivacious. The tone is very similar to Cocoon, which is definitely a good thing.Snatched is a fun, light-hearted alien abduction story with a twist. Once the ladies return from their interstellar adventure, their stories are a bit silly seemingly out of a science fiction romance novel. But it fits the mood – full of whimsy, adventure, humor, and a bit of suspense. The story builds to the births of the alien babies, though it’s not explained why three women are giving birth at the same time. But it’s easy to suspend disbelief for this heart-warming and amusing story.

Cibola Burn (The Expanse), by James S.A. Corey

Review "It's been too long since we've had a really kickass space opera. LEVIATHAN WAKES is interplanetary adventure the way it ought to be written, the kind of SF that made me fall in love with the genre way back when, seasoned with a dollop of horror and a dash of noir. Jimmy Corey writes with the energy of a brash newcomer and the polish of a seasoned pro. So where's the second book?"―George R.R. Martin on Leviathan Wakes"The science fictional equivalent of A Song of Ice and Fire... only with fewer beheadings and way more spaceships."―NPR Books on Cibola Burn"Combining an exploration of real human frailties with big SF ideas and exciting thriller action, Corey cements the series as must-read space opera."―Library Journal on Cibola Burn (Starred Review)"The Expanse is the best space opera series running at full tilt right now, and Cibola Burn continues that streak of excellence."―io9 on Cibola Burn"A politically complex and pulse-pounding page-turner.... Corey perfectly balances character development with action... series fans will find this installment the best yet."―Publishers Weekly on Abaddon's Gate"An excellent space operatic debut in the grand tradition of Peter F. Hamilton."―Charles Stross on Leviathan Wakes"High adventure equaling the best space opera has to offer, cutting-edge technology, and a group of unforgettable characters bring the third installment of Corey's epic space drama (after Caliban's War and Leviathan Wakes) to an action-filled close while leaving room for more stories to unfold. Perhaps one of the best tales the genre has yet to produce, this superb collaboration between fantasy author Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck should reawaken an interest in old-fashioned storytelling and cinematic pacing. Highly recommended."―Library Journal on Abaddon's Gate"Literary space opera at its absolute best."―io9.com on Abaddon's Gate"[T]he authors are superb with the exciting bits: Shipboard coups and battles are a thrill to follow."―Washington Post on Abaddon's Gate"Riveting interplanetary thriller."―Publishers Weekly on Leviathan Wakes

53 of 56 people found the following review helpful. A transition novel that disappoints a bit By Todd S Previous books in the series have established a future in which the solar system has been claimed by three factions, but the stars are out of reach. The Expanse has done space opera right with touches of Aliens and Chinatown thrown in for flavor. However, much of the momentum created by the preceding novels has been wasted just as the universe has opened up. Mild Spoilers: The initial setup of squatters versus corporation does a great job of pitting two equally grey groups against each other. Daniel Abraham (one half of James Corey) has always excelled at characters that are understandable despite their awful choices. Yet, the introduction of a stereotypical, mustache-twirling villain in the form of a security chief destroys this balance. The unnecessary escalation of violence followed by random dangers (storms, slugs, and algae) just feels sloppy. None of the new characters add much and the female character who essentially "just needs to get laid" is a bit offensive. The ending is compressed and rushed. Further, the lack of consequences to characters despite the constant cataclysmic events robs much of the tension. End Spoilers: Don't take my criticism to mean that you shouldn't read the book. I still highly recommend the series and look forward to the next entry, but I hope things pick up. The series is best when the characters aren't confined to a single planet.

25 of 29 people found the following review helpful. Weak plot and one-dimensional characters steal the word Opera right out of "Space Opera" for a plodding drag through the mud. By G. College I find myself agreeing heartily with other reviewers. I was instantly converted into a fan of The Expanse series, but this book left me with a poor experience. The first thing that took me out was the premise and the plot. The opening idea is that, as soon as we are faced with the ability to jointly colonize thousands of worlds, a single ship made a run for one of them and started squatting there. This is asinine. First of all, I don't understand how a mom-and-pop ship of motley Ganymede outcasts would beat the UN, the OPA, and Mars to probing the new worlds, let alone just flying right past Fred Johnson and the OPA's Medina Station to go and squat, and everyone just allowed them to. Previous books in the series have always been about the power-struggle between these forces, and how they never give an inch, but an independent vessel shooting through the ring (which is the one and only ship who got this idea in the whole of the Sol system, apparently) just glides on through. So if we suspend our disbelief enough to allow for this, we can now have a plot contrived around the idea of the Wild West, and who can claim land and who makes the laws. If you didn't catch on to that initially, it will be mentioned repeatedly during the struggle between Holden and his obstinate, cartoonish antagonist.Which brings me to the antagonist (and his equally obstinate right-hand man). They are simply self-destructive, unrealistic hazards that somehow ingratiated themselves into the upper eschelon of a massive corporation that we are repeatedly sold to the notion are one half of a morally grey tapestry, and are reminded constantly that they're not the bad guys, they're just here to claim what has been given them by the various governments of Sol. Except they employ psychopathic megalomaniacs, and employ scorched earth tactics when faced with opposition. It becomes very hard to see the "grey" in this conflict. And erstwhile good-intended characters follow along with this mania, because they're just "following orders".This is the Michael Bay version of The Expanse. It's a situation of humorously-escalating apocalyptic stakes, one-dimensional characters who behave outside the realm of believability, and a deus-ex-machina (literally) that solves the plot in an "everyone wins but the bad guys" scenario. It doesn't detract from the Bay comparison that the former kepeers of Ilus indeed remind one of the modern Transformers (another lazy creation). But the thing that bugs me the most, out of everyone, is the character of Elvi Okoye. We are constantly reminded that she is attractive, but quirky to the point of being unaware of how dorky she is. I guess it should be hilarious (?) every time she starts passionately talking about science and then whomever she is talking to verbally pats her on the head (this happens many times). Worse still is her immediate puppy-dog infatuation for James Holden. She is immediately head-over-heels in love with the intrepid hero, to the point where it is ruining her ability to function as a normal human being. And how is this resolved? By her getting laid. The one-dimensional female caricature is "fixed" by simply getting some, and her obsessive fantasies dissolve. Once again, she is simply pacified by the men around her.I get that not every woman in the universe has to the the bad-ass ambassador for women's rights (though I would've loved some more Bobbie Draper in this book, to be sure), but this is patently in the wrong side of the field. I was honestly insulted by her character. This is a transition novel in every sense of the phrase. I have no doubt that the payoff resulting from this will be great (the last line of the book spoken by Avasarala gave me a chill up my spine), but the road there is bumpy. I feel like there is this grand notion of where the series is going, but to get there we had to just suspend rationality and accept this novel as the bridge that got us there. If I find myself reading The Expanse again (I will no doubt re-read the original trilogy), I will be skipping Cibola Burn.

By James Bazhaw While I love the series and this book does deliver, I happened to buy the audio books as well, the narrator of this book is terrible, voice is laggy and the voices he chooses have nothing to do with the characters. I'm happy they went back to the other narrator.

An engaging, lyrical, and, at times, disturbing novel, The Possibility of Snow tells the story of a once-promising friendship. Steve and Neil room together at a small college in New England, until things go strangely wrong. Steve is eccentric, slightly paranoid, and too perceptive for his own good. He knows the difference between what people say and what they do. Neil is reflective, sincere, and not as together as he seems. There's not much he's sure of anymore. They know each other very well and understand each other not at all.

The Possibility of Snow, by Al Riske

Review "In a deceptively simple tale of friendship, Al Riske does a great job of exploring the boundaries of what we can expect from and be to each other." - J Clement Wall, Goodreads"In The Possibility of Snow, Al Riske explores the boundaries of male friendship, inviting the reader to consider the limits of loyalty, companionship, and love." - Barbara Shoup, author, An American Tune and Looking for Jack Keruoac

From the Author The central characters in The Possibility of Snow, Steve and Neil, meet in college, where, away from home for the first time, guys find themselves in need of new friends as never before (and perhaps never again, not with the same urgency). It's also the place and time in which we are all looking to define ourselves, to decide what and who we want to be. The combination of similarities and differences that bring Steve and Neil together makes it hard for them to either stay friends or simply go their separate ways. Each is unlike anyone the other has ever known.

While Riske makes every word count, what's not on the page is just as interesting as what is. He's painted for us a uniquely honest exploration of male friendship - a bond between two students that shifts from heartwarming to disturbing, and myriad emotions between. Sharp wit, unabashed honesty, playfulness and sparse yet reflective writing all set this novel apart.

Failed friendship By Big Mama You know the feeling: you make a friend, and notice they start to say and do things that are a little off, but kind of endearing -- at first. Then they escalate until they wear you out. Eventually, you just want to move away and not give them your address.Al Riske’s novel is reminiscent of many failed relationships, and not just between young men. These dynamics occur between women and couples as well. The antics of these particular young men make Al’s story compelling, a real page-turner, surprising in the timeless small college setting -- until the unexpected end. Just like a failed relationship, you leave wishing for more.

Once I hit page 120 or so, I couldn't book the book down and raced to the finish. Riske builds tension in such a way that I wished I could take the book apart and find some simple way to describe why it works so beautifully.

Daughters of Darkness By I-heart-books I was excited to see that there will be 4 books written by 4 different authors in this series so I'm starting with this one! It did not disappoint! It's a quick read, got it done in a few hours because I couldn't freaking put it down! I really liked this story and honestly, this whole concept of 4 daughters of Vlad, the vampire of myth, who is searching for his daughters. I have a feeling that these girls won't be anyone to mess with! I cannot wait to read the other 3!!!!!!!!5 stars!

There are 4 authors writing about 4 different daughters of darkness. They may never have met each other prior to the books but they will, I just know it!! They have to take Vlad down, or kick his butt to the next moon! The daughters of darkness are all strong alpha-female characters who don't take crap from anyone! Jezebel is great!Grab your copy, you wont be disappointed!

Review "This was a great story that really read true-to-life - a woman attempts to stay one step ahead of the psychotic ex that is stalking her and her son....This story took me all over the place. There was, of course, romance but there was also suspense and a bit of action and some humor" ~ Marissa, Romancing the Book- 4 stars

Too forced for comfort By Smoky Mountain Authors When writing an honest review you should always mention what you liked, what you didn't like, and end it with some positive criticism. Today I cannot seem to do that. I RARELY give a totally negative review about anything. Usually I can find at least ONE thing I like about a book but with this one I couldn't even bring myself to finish it past chapter three. The plot would have been great if it were not for the writing. Dialogue seemed forced to me as if Ms. Davis was putting words into the characters conversation that the characters themselves wouldn't actually say (or at least I wouldn't see them saying.) What I mean by that is you have to be able to see the characters as their own person or someone you may know. The character has their own tempo of speech and their own personality, if that makes any sense. If the author is forcing words that wouldn't normally be in a conversation then the reader will lose their connection with the characters. The problem I really had with this book, besides the poor construction of the characters, is the fact that the woman is so stupid. What woman in her right mind would move to a town so close to her hometown, with a son, if she was on the run from a psychotic ex-husband? Isn't the surrounding areas the first place he would check? Why would she openly explain her dilemma at even the slightest round of questioning? A woman who is trying to get away from an ex-husband such as hers would go as far away from anyone who could possibly know her or her family as she can get to keep everyone safe. She would trust no one with her problems and would struggle to be open emotionally with any other man, especially one like John who despises her at the moment. Why would she endanger another man's family because she "needs" a job? John is right, she can get a job anywhere so why would she need to get one there?I take it back. I do like one thing about this book and that is the cover. Whomever did the cover art did a great job and it truly sucked me in to thinking this would be a great independent read. Ms. Davis, please find an editor. I know a few great ones who work for cheap.

The male lead, John, sleeps with his girlfriend Sarah under the same roof as the female lead, Cassie. When Sarah leaves, John moves on to Cassie, who has had a wild past, which included him. The plot revolves around Cassie's ex-husband, a crazy man. Through it all, John gets pissed time and time again. Cassie feels sorry for herself. And on and on...when all of a sudden they decide to make "it" work, I wonder whether John can chill and Cassie communicate. imo,, not likely. Leopards don't change their spots.Added to this is a lot of poor grammar and a lack of appropriate punctuation. Not recommended.

RFF LIKES POISON By Amazon Customer Great story takes place a small coastal NW town, were the hate of one doctor for his old flame festers and turns. But of course her need for a mans help against her cruel stocking ex husband who is determined to get both Cassie and there son Timmy back in his control leads to the rekindling of the former love. Great story line develops. You will enjoy!

By jlswainsboro/Judy Lewis Title: Ecstatic WeeksSeries: Alpha Billionaire Romance SeriesDesignation: Book Five of Multi-Installment Serial, NOT a StandaloneAuthor: Sarah J BrooksReading Platform: Kindle UnlimitedMy Rating: FIVE DELIGHTFULLY ENTERTAINING STARS *****Love it! Ecstatic Weeks is the fifth installment of Sarah J Brooks' seductive new serial and I must say, I'm totally captivated. This is a serialized story so if you haven't read the previous books in the series, please STOP here. Okay, I realize that multi-installment serials may not be for everyone but what can I say, I love them. And Sarah Brooks just got my attention! This is my first time reading anything written by Brooks but I can say with absolute certainty, it won't be my last. I am so hooked on this series! I love the concept of this story: a strong female lead with BRAINS. She's not only beautiful but intelligent as well and the icing on the cake: she has a mind of her own. Of course, we all love a handsome alpha male lead and love them all the more when they're charming and intelligent. And let's not forget - filthy rich! Who can resist that combination??? The story is exciting, sensual, arousing, well crafted, interesting and held my attention. Once I started reading, it was easy to immerse myself in the story and I wanted more. The narrative is exceptionally well written in the first person with his and her points of view, which I love. I believe this adds to the depth and complexity of the story and definitely gives us a better understanding of the characters, their feelings and motivations. The dialogue is smart, snappy, easy to follow and flows effortlessly. And now for the best part, the characters. They are fascinating, captivating, intriguing, engaging and relatable. The chemistry between the two lead characters is convincing and almost palpable. Quite simply, it is off the charts sexy. Brooks skillfully crafts these elements into a fabulously entertaining contemporary romance with a twist. What kind of twist, you ask? Well, it's a little too early to tell but I strongly suspect that we will have a little mystery and suspense in the near future. (And we do!) And please forgive me for being crass, but we didn't have to wait until halfway through the book for the mind-blowing sex! Oh no, Brooks rewarded us in the very first installment and gave us a little taste of how well suited these characters are for each other. I can hardly wait to read the next installment!Beautiful graduate student Becka Jasper is definitely on her way to a very promising and successful career. She's had to work hard for everything she has and intends to work even harder to get what she wants. When Oliver Weeks, CEO of Neuotova is invited to speak as a guest lecturer by Dr Evans, Becka's professor/advisor/mentor, she is able to snag an interview for an internship with Oliver Weeks, CEO of Neuotova, a major food research corporation. But Becka is immediately thrown off her game when she first sets eyes on Oliver Weeks and is more than just a little attracted to him. She immediately feels the chemistry between them and is conflicted over her decision to seek a job with the handsome, charismatic CEO. And it seems Oliver Weeks may be attracted to her as well. Oh my!Billionaire Oliver Weeks has worked long and hard to achieve his success. The only area in which he hasn't been successful is his personal life. He works hard but plays little and very seldom has time for a relationship with the fairer sex. Most of his dates are arranged by his personal assistant and never the same woman. He has no interest in love or developing feelings for anyone - until now. One look at Becka Jasper is all it takes for alpha male Oliver to know that he wants her and not just as an intern in his lab. She's not only beautiful but she's also brilliant. He wants her in his life as well as his bed and he's not accustomed to being told no. Oliver Weeks always gets what he wants and he wants Becka. Oh my! Will Oliver be able to convince Becka to accept his offer - both of them??? Hmm...I wonder???Book Two:Becka has accepted Oliver's requests for several dates and their chemistry is off the charts but she's still conflicted over accepting an internship with his company while having a personal relationship with the handsome CEO. She has little time to consider her dilemma when she's broadsided with some devastating news. Becka and Dr Evans have spent countless time and much effort on a special research project for Protame, a healthy replacement for the artificial sweetener Aspartame. Becka has worked tirelessly on this project and has also chosen it as the subject as her dissertation. The university has suffered budget cutbacks and as a result, they have lost funding for their project. Oh no! What will she do? Maybe she should tell Oliver. Will Oliver be able to help??? Oliver is more determined than ever to have the beautiful Becka in his bed and in his lab. And he's not above a little scheming and manipulation to get what he wants. But let's not forget, Becka has a mind of her own and may have a few surprises in store for the wealthy determined billionaire! It's a battle of wills and both are determined to get what they want but will it be each other??? Or are there other secrets and motivations at play? Hmm... I wonder???Book Three:Oliver weeks did indeed help the lovely Becka and donated the money anonymously to the University to fund her Protame project and of course he has his own selfish reasons. He wants Becka and if that means making her feel somewhat indebted to him, then so be it. He's certainly not above using every dirty trick in the book to get what he wants but he certainly never expected her proclamation of never mixing business with pleasure. She's refused to sleep with him if she accepts the position at Neuotova! Huh? Oh yes, she definitely laid the law down to him. But when had he ever allowed a little thing like an emphatic no to ever stop him from getting what he wants? Never! He'll do whatever it takes; he's determined to have the beautiful, intelligent Becka?Becka knows it was Oliver that donated the money but does finally agrees to accept the internship with Neuotova, but she has a caveat of her own. If she accepts the internship as a paid position, she will be unable continue her personal relationship with Oliver. What? Nope, her conscience won't allow it. She will not allow a personal relationship to compromise her work ethics. Or will she? While doing some research on Oliver and his company, Becka uncovers some very disturbing allegations against Oliver and his company Neuotova, allegations charging animal cruelty by the use use of animals in their research, experimentation and testing. Huh? Becka is a researcher after all so who better to investigate? Becka is invited by her advisor Dr Evans to teach a Food Science Ethics class and at her very first class she meets student Ethan Hernandez who makes some serious charges regarding the use of animal testing against Neuotova. But are they true or simply conjecture and who is Ethan Hernandez? There's only one way to discover the truth and if it means more research into company files, then that's a chance she's willing to take. She just hadn't expected a perfect opportunity to fall into her lap when Oliver offers her a job as his assistant and a two week working vacation to Italy. Huh? Oh my! Can she work so closely with him and still be objective? I think not!Book Four:Apparently, Becka can't remain objective, not when Oliver insists on whisking her away to Italy for a working vacation with lots of shopping, romantic dinners and lots and lots of dreamy sex. Oh my! But nothing can last forever and so they must return home to their lives which for Becka includes discovering the truth about Oliver. Becka has received an email from Ethan promising absolute proof of his accusations against Oliver. Becka reveals this information to Oliver but she now must decide whether to meet with Ethan. But Ethan has decided to turn up the heat, not only in his effort to turn Becka against Oliver but also to pursue her for himself as well. What? Becka is now caught in the middle of the two powerful men and has no idea which one to believe. And the latest revelation from Oliver about Ethan has her even more confused! Talk about dropping a bomb! Oh my glory! I never saw that one coming! So, what's a girl to do when two handsome, wealthy men are both supposedly vying for her affection? Sleep with one and kiss the other??? Oh my!Book Five:After agreeing to a meeting with Ethan and sharing a mind-blowing kiss with him, Becka comes to the sudden realization that she's actually attracted to both handsome men but how is that even possible? How can she be attracted to both Oliver and Ethan when obviously one of the men is lying to her? But who is lying and who is telling the truth? If she's to believe the documents Ethan has shown her, then Oliver is paying Ethan to guarantee his silence, therefore Oliver is not being honest. Or Ethan is blackmailing Oliver and extorting money but for what reason? Documents can be forged, right? Oliver has become an important part of her life but just what is her relationship with him? Does he truly care about her and her welfare? Is she is his girlfriend or merely flavor of the month? And to further complicate the situation, it now seems that Ethan wants Becka for himself and intends to steal her away from Oliver. Oh my! Ethan doesn't give Becka long to contemplate her questions. The morning after their impromptu kiss, Ethan unexpectedly arrives at Neuotova demanding to see Oliver and then..... immediately envelops her in his arms and crushes her with a hot smoldering kiss just as Oliver is opening his office door! OMG! Oliver goes ballistic and Ethan retaliates. Allegations, threats and insults are hurled by each and it seems they may come to blows. What a nightmare! (Or is it? Hmm...What woman doesn't want two hot as heck billionaires fighting over her? But is it really her they're fighting over?) Apparently both men have been less than forthright with Becka. Each has lied to her and kept a shocking secret. But Oliver just let the cat out of the bag! Oh my goodness! By Samaris Mary and Daniel have been through a lot to get to where they are today and it seems the hits just keep on coming. Now that her secret is out at least to Daniel they want to move towards getting Archangel some spotlight as well. How to do so soon becomes an issue. As Daniel is gearing up for another CD release some security concerns arise not so much for him but for Mary. Seems someone is out to get her at whatever cost. With so much on the table they are both worried. Amadeus swoops in to try and help where he can and in a bizarre turn of events gets injured. Mary and Daniel go through so much personally in this story as well that you will laugh, cry and cheer them on. A great read that will leave you thirsting for more of their tale.

When Daniel collapse By Marissa ARC Kindle Copy for ReviewThe continuing saga of Mary Tudor and Daniel Kennedy concludes in Archangel.Things are going well with Daniel on tour which pushes back wedding plans. Mary’s alter ego Archangel puts random appearances during Daniel’s concert. Which record companies are interested in having her make her own CD.Mary must deal with a record guy’s wife who wants to be in the middle of things using her clout as working for the record company as well. She’s the type who is looking up for her next richer conquest as she eyes Daniel and treats Mary like dirt. When Daniel collapses from overworking and must take time off work, Mary and her twin brother finds other ways to promote Archangel as they plan to make her known to the public. Along the way, Amadeus gets hurt saving his sister from a stalker who once stalked his wife. Will Daniel and Mary get to live happily ever after with all these outside forces? A nice ending to complete their story coming full circle.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. The Story of Mary and Daniel Continues By Melissa72 This was another decent read from Jamie Salisbury. In this book we hear much more from Mary than Daniel. Mary has a lot going on in this story, but I felt that the lack of much of Daniel left something to be desired. There were a lot of things left open at the end of this story, many more questions than answers, leaving the door open for a followup. There also seems to be some interesting developments with Mary's brother Damien. Possibly a story of his own, or a spinoff? I still think that the story was well written, as the characters were well developed as usual, but the plot seems to be a bit disconnected from the previous book. I had to put it down a few times, and come back to it after reading something else, so the problem may just be the circumstances in which I read it. I was given a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
