1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Fantastic Ending to the series-trilogy By Marsha @ Keeper Bookshelf We’ve come to the final episode of By Moonlight, a three part series-trilogy. I’ve enjoyed this series very much.Gwen and Brandon will fight for each other and against each other in Wild Hearts. The plots with Christoph and Elektra thickens and twists – and I can honestly say I never saw the ending coming. Truly. Never. Saw. It.You will find the same in depth concentration of vampire and werewolf lore, as well as some new additions. We now have hybrids, which takes this story in a whole other dimension. This is a very fast paced story that will fascinate and entertain. There are a lot of steamy, sexy scenes – this one also will be classified as Erotica by many – cos these two know how to burn up the sheets, that’s for sure.I enjoyed this trilogy and would not hesitate to recommend it to any Paranormal readers out there – just know that you will be getting a healthy dose of Erotica as well. The one thing… the ending. As I said, I truly did not see that coming. And to be perfectly honest, I’m still not sure how I feel about it. But I’ll let you read the series and see what I mean for yourself. Go ahead, pick this up and enjoy.*Any review is just one person’s opinion. You might feel the same or totally different. The only way to know for certain is for you to read it. This was my opinion of this particular book.* Originally reviewed at Keeper Bookshelf (dot) com

By Deb_Loves2read “Wild Hearts” is the 3rd & final episode in the sensational trilogy, “By Moonlight” from this wildly talented, new Indie author :D ... This 3rd novella continues with hot, sexy Vamps & Wolves, smoking hot steamy love scenes, trash talking and some a$$ kicking revenge on bad guys :o ... Oh, and yes there are cliffhangers at the end of the first two books ;) lol ...The writing and stories are so awesome and have a totally unique take on shifters and the ‘undead’ with a fresh new story-line that I have never read before :) ...Tho I hate to see this end, Ms. Ryan “wraps it all up & ties on a bow” as she continues her great characters, new plots with surprises, twists and turns that will keep the pages turning! ... Even tho I was given an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review, I highly recommend this Fantastic work of FICTION to readers who love shifters and have ‘Vampire Love‘ or at least like these similar genres in fantasy, paranormal, science fiction or romantic suspense :) ... So if you can’t get enough of any one of these genres, you will want to add all 3 in this 'serial' trilogy to your must read list, or just go one-click them all right now :D You do NOT want to miss out on this!!

Christoph wants them to fight for the vampires and Elektra wants them to fight for the shifters. Gwen and Brandon can't come to a decision---Gwen wants him to fight for the vampires so they can have their freedom, Brandon wants to fight for the shifters so he can kill Christoph and free Gwen. They both almost die. Christoph tries to kill Gwen because she betrayed him. Elektra wants her dead too. Elektra and Christoph die instead. Gwen wakes up in a hospital and can't remember what happened. In the end, Brandon and Gwen have a second chance at happiness. Gwen vows this time no one will separate them. Good read.

The relationship between Scott and Sarah is like the 2 previous books relationships complex but very engaging. There is this constant sense throughout this book that you are missing a piece of the puzzle but it comes together slowly as each secret is revealed. What I enjoy most about this series so far is nothing seems rushed but it also never lags like so many books do.I can't wait to hear when the release date for the next book is!

6 of 8 people found the following review helpful. Needs Edit Overhaul! By Roe1229 I really had a hard time with this one because of the many, many typos, misspelled & missing words and choppy & repetitive sentences. The storyline was okay but I have a real problem with reading things like "little lone" & "ease drop"…I am surprised an author with a series can really think these are actually correctly spoken…they should have been "let alone" & "eavesdrop" these were just way too distracting. It was hard to take seriously or try to get into the story with all those distractions. I expect a little more when purchasing a book. I'm glad this was a free one for me. Just too many errors to lose yourself in this one. Major editing would really help! Sorry to be so harsh but it's frustrating to an avid reader.

Secrets exposed By samanthagirl There are not enough words to describe how good this series is and once again Leanne Davis has not let her readers down. This book is so well written that you are immediately transported into Sarah's world. You feel all her emotions from her fears, her insecurities, her dedication to her family to how she feels for Scott. What a fabulous book. I definitely recommend reading this.

From the Author Lost World of Patagonia has received high praise from readers but the ending has struck a nerve with others. I can assure you things aren't always what they first appear to be. 10 of 10 people found the following review helpful. Prehistoric Thriller with Great Character Development By Grace I found this to be an interesting book on many levels. The action begins as soon as you read the first sentence in chapter one. Two explorers run for their life as a pterodactyl threatens from above. And while the novel contains its share of human/dinosaur encounters, the web of characters' interaction really solidified the story for me.The basic plot: An earthquake opens an unexplored region in Patagonia, South America. A corporation in hopes of exploiting its natural resources employs a Cryptozoologist, who is also a professor of zoology, and his associates as a cover for their covert exploration. Joining the University crew are eight mercenaries (Redwater) sent in for protection.Hatchell does a good job juggling the fourteen personalities of the exploration party, and had me care genuinely caring for a few. The dinosaur action frames the internal conflicts within the University crew as well as those shared with the Redwater bunch. The science used in the novel is plausible, which adds a lot to my personal entertainment. The story headed for a climatic finish, and just when I thought I could stop and breathe a sigh of relief, I had to do a double take. Well done, Mr. Hatchell. The epilogue reads like a camera narrowly focused on a scene that slowly widens the view. From there we get a glimpse of the bigger picture, and we learn the secret of the Lost World of Patagonia.

8 of 9 people found the following review helpful. Action, thrills and entertainment. By SK Nash There’s one thing that pings my nerdiness more than others, and that’s dinosaurs. I pored over dino books as a kid, watched The Land of the Lost every Saturday morning, and I guess I never got over it when I grew up. The Lost World of Patagonia by Dane Hatchell is an action-packed dino-thriller that honors the the “lost world” trope in all its glory. If you like action, this book is for you. The story starts with two men desperately fleeing across jungle territory. Everything is trying to kill them: the terrain, the vegetation, and of course, the monstrous flying lizard that wants to eat them. The information they are able to send back to their base, and the video taken by their drone, sets the stage for the rest of the tale. The first few chapters should be warning enough: Don’t get attached to anyone.Because of the high body count, the book has a lot of characters. It’s also a short read, so there’s not a lot of time to develop every single one of them. In many cases, it’s not necessary because we know dino chow when we see it. The cryptozoology team from the University are interesting people with enough group dynamics to keep their interactions interesting. Add in the security team, and it shook things up. One touch I particularly liked were the friendships between the two groups that were forged on the trip. I also enjoyed the glimpse into Hindu mythology. I know almost nothing about that, and getting it from Natasha’s perspective sparked my interest.I think the author missed an opportunity for conflict with the two women on the expedition: Natasha and Susan. There is a conflict brewing between them, and there’s just no way that tension wouldn’t have spilled over into an ice-cold war between the alpha female and the upstart. With the reality-TV references dropped into the book here and there, I was expecting the women to go after each other, but it never happened. The Lost World of Patagonia isn’t high fiction. It’s an action novel, meant to entertain. It does a fine job of mixing action and characterization with plenty of pop-culture references to anchor it in the present. The action is great, the fantasy of the lost world is fun, and hey, dinosaurs! I did see a number of typos, enough over my acceptable threshold to warrant mentioning, but I see that as the publisher's issue, not the author's. (Note: the author commented to say that the publisher is uploading a new edit to fix the problem, so this won't be an issue for future readers.) The science in the novel is touched on without going too deep, and while my science-brain wanted to run out and check facts, the other half said, “It’s a story, I should really just relax.”So relax, grab a copy and enjoy the departure into a land run amok with dinosaurs, big guns and nail-biting tension. Prepare to be thrilled and entertained.I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. This review originally published at [...]

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Action packed By Pat With the flood of books out there because of online merchants many books tend to disappoint. This book did not do that for me. It hit the ground running. Which is my kind of book! But don’t worry, it wasn’t all action all the time. The author had an even level of action to go along with his low key character development moments. It lagged a little in the middle, but by then was I already hooked and enjoyed it to the end, which was actually and unexpected and pleasant twist. I saw a lot of myself in Alex. That doesn’t happen often.

MacBeth Serna has written four books and they are all great: Fretboard Theory I, Fretboard Theory II, Guitar Theory for Dummies and this book Guitar Rhythm & Techniques for Dummies. I picked up playing guitar at 37 with absolutely no musical experience. His books are the cornerstone on which I have based my self taught education of music theory and guitar. Because of his books, I feel that I am a more rounded guitar player with the full understanding of what I am doing theoretically and in practice.I highly recommend Desi Serna's books as well as his videos that correspond to each book.

Yes, but By Ronald R Rees Desi does a wonderful job and is very thorough in covering what most guitar instructors might ignore completely. My single most frustration is this doesn't come with a AUDIO CD for 53 MP-3 audio files. For the money you spend and the price for a CD it would be a GOLDEN Opportunity if it had been included. Yes, I'm a miserly SOB. Just my two cents. Does this book then deserve TWO less Stars...you're the judge. I give it a full 5 STAR rating otherwise. When I have doubts about music theory, this is where I go. The audio is down loadable but it is quite a chore when you want 53 files, and sorted someplace handy, for future use in an organized fashion. I'm thinking "CLOUD" for my future access and or Mobile Tablet, Phone, etc. Then there's the PC to deal with....this ends up being very time consuming. Question, when do you get time to actually practice? Mar 6, 2016

Scott Ourecky wanted to fly—he never dreamed he'd end up in a secret military space program. The year is 1968: The Cold War is far from over, nuclear annihilation is always only a heartbeat away. America is racing the Soviet Union to land men on the Moon, a war is raging, and a pivotal presidential election looms on the horizon. A child of the early space age, Lieutenant Scott Ourecky joined the Air Force with aspirations of going to flight school. A brilliant engineer, he repeatedly fails the aptitude test to become a pilot but is selected to work on a highly classified military space program—the innocuously named Aerospace Support Project—in which Air Force astronauts are slated to fly missions to intercept and destroy suspect Soviet satellites. When one of the astronauts in training abruptly falls out of the project, Ourecky is asked to fill in for the two-man simulated missions and survival training only, serving with a headstrong and abrasive test pilot, Major Drew Carson, until another astronaut can be assigned. By far the most proficient pilot assigned to the project, Carson has a dangerous propensity to engage in “pick-up” dog fighting sessions while on cross-country training flights. And although Ourecky was only a temporary “place holder,” not destined to fly in space, he soon finds himself much more involved than he ever anticipated—and in deepest peril.Based on a real secret space program, Blue Gemini combines high-altitude action with edge-of-your-seat storytelling to create a modern Cold War thriller.Skyhorse Publishing, as well as our Arcade, Yucca, and Good Books imprints, are proud to publish a broad range of books for readers interested in fiction—novels, novellas, political and medical thrillers, comedy, satire, historical fiction, romance, erotic and love stories, mystery, classic literature, folklore and mythology, literary classics including Shakespeare, Dumas, Wilde, Cather, and much more. While not every title we publish becomes a New York Times bestseller or a national bestseller, we are committed to books on subjects that are sometimes overlooked and to authors whose work might not otherwise find a home.

Review "...an epic tale of high-stakes action seasoned with the muddy complexities of human relationships." —Publishers Weekly"Tom Clancy and Dan Brown have got nothing on Mike Jenne!" —Quest: The History of Spaceflight Quarterly"An excellent tale...[Jenne] tells a story that just about anyone can read and understand, but includes enough detail to keep even an expert entertained." —The Space Review"It's fiction but you'd hardly know it. The settings and other details are spot on! A great read.” —Werner J.A. Dahm, (former) Chief Scientist of the U.S. Air Force"...realism that almost had me looking for my headset to start working the mission!" —John Muratore, Former Shuttle Flight Director

About the Author Mike Jenne is a licensed pilot, life-long aerospace aficionado and amateur space historian. As a child, he felt the ground shudder-often - as the Saturn V moon rockets were tested at nearby Marshall Space Flight Center. Trained as an Army Ranger and Military Freefall (“HALO”) Parachutist, he is a former Special Forces officer who has served across the globe, including deployments to Africa, Central America, Haiti, the Middle East, and Afghanistan. Mike and his wife, Adele, make their home in Trussville, Alabama.

By Rebbratt As a retired Air Force missile launch officer and space system operator, I can give a testimonial that this is probably the most technically accurate space related “historical fictions” I’ve read! The simulation activities of the crew members and actual operations procedures are spot on, and provide a realistic backdrop to some little known space projects that actually occurred, as Top Secret projects (now, declassified) during the Cold War. Having said that, if you have never been directly connected with aircraft systems, rocketry, and or space flight, the technical jargon, procedures, and plot flow might not be your cup of coffee and might drive you away. In this book, the “action” is demonstrated by the operators “operating” and technical details being followed step by step. The details are many and sometimes, slow moving. Unfortunately, if someone was expecting a shoot em-up-bang-bang spy novel or James Bond type military in space novel, this excellently written piece will not capture you!

7 of 8 people found the following review helpful. At last, a story worthy of the Air Force's "Blue Gemini" wishes! By John Charles It is tempting to say that the two-man Gemini spacecraft is the star of "Blue Gemini" by Mike Jenne, or at least the best supporting actor. America's sophomore space capsule brought the space age into full bloom and demonstrated all the potentials of astronauts in space. Baby boomers like Jenne and me came of age hoping that Gemini would grow into more versions and more missions. But in fact it was a stop gap capability, supplanted by Apollo and left in the the dust by later, more flexible spacecraft.Or was it? What if there were a top-secret Air Force program that, like the Manned Orbiting Laboratory, depended on Gemini, but unlike MOL, actually flew missions that may have helped America win the Cold War?That is the premise of "Blue Gemini" but the novel itself is so much more than a paean to an obsolete spaceship. It is a nostalgic revisit to the 1960s, a peek into the world of international espionage, a look over the fence at brutal military training, a glimpse at the surprisingly human faces of America's staunch adversaries on the other side of the iron curtain, a visit with unfortunate people whose poor judgment only makes their own lives worse, and much more.Mike Jenne moves his large ensemble of well-developed characters through a surprisingly credible alternate history without missing a step. The individual stories flow seamlessly and believably in spite of surprise developments. He uses then-current technology realistically to set up events and let them occur. That the characters' individual lives don't fully intertwine in "Blue Gemini" only signals the scope of later installments in the series.I compare "Blue Gemini" favorably to "The Martian" by Andy Weir, and they should appeal to the same readers. "Blue Gemini" is less man-vs. nature and more about teamwork, but they both transport us into hard-edged worlds which force smart people to take big risks in noble causes, and not without setbacks. And in "Blue Gemini" the nerd gets the girl, wins over the jock and saves the day. With all that and Gemini, too, what's not to like?

11 of 13 people found the following review helpful. I greatly enjoyed the entire book By John R. Scales I got my copy of Mike Jenne's new book on Wednesday, starting reading it, and went straight through. It is now Saturday and I wish volume 2 of the trilogy was ready for me. I greatly enjoyed the entire book. Set in the 1960's the book carries you back there with a great and realistic plot revolving around the Cold War space race. Filled with technical details, most of them not fiction at all but accurate depictions of the technology and the tensions, the book carries you along so intensely you have trouble putting it down. Very well done - can't wait to read the next two!

I love Dayquan he is such a fool in love that it's cute how bad he wanted Heaven. Poor Heaven was very strong cause I couldn't have taken all the torcher she received from Polo. Polo needs to get what is coming to him he is just nasty all the way around. Angela and Alex are the perfect couple and she is truly a great friend to Heaven. I recommend this book you will not be disappointed.

5 of 6 people found the following review helpful. Not bad for a first book great story line By SONYA FRENCH OK let me start of by saying \that I really did enjoy this book and I will read part 2. How ever I found it to be a bit aggravating with the constant repeating in each chapter there is no need for me to be reading something that I had already read in the previous chapter Your readers don't need to see the different point of views cause it just make you repeat your self. I love the charters and the story line but just let the book flow with out the whole repeating and watch your spelling. I think you are a very good writer with a good future. Keep up the good work

About the Author Phil Elmore is a freelance journalist, author, and technical writer who lives and works in Western New York State. "I will bury that bastard and his evidence."Three of his crew members sat in the plush office. Not one of them made any comment. They might have been thinking his outburst was more than a little risky, given that he was already under the close eye of federal authorities who were just waiting for him to step across the line. But that was Seb Jessup.A man who had total contempt for the law, society and anyone who dared to cross him. Jessup had a personal mantra: "I go where I want and I do what I want. Get in my way and I will crush you."Simple and direct. Jessup believed in being up front with people. They got what they saw. He made no concessions to anyone or anything. He was in his midthirties, a hard-bodied man who ruled his criminal organization by brute force and cunning. He had a financially successful association with a Mexican cartel over the border, and he traded in weapons and stolen cars. He also had a thriving business in human trafficking. He had no interest in corporate crime. Not for Jessup the sleight of hand in the white-collar world. He was a hands-on racketeer. Jessup liked money. Lots of it. And his territory, which still clung to the well-defined individualism of West Texas, was large enough to accommodate his appetites.Jessup was entirely a self-made man, and he considered himself a product of his environment. Brought up on a hardscrabble farm, where his family had struggled daily to stay fed, Jessup learned early that a man got what he did only by hard work and grabbing any opportunity that presented itself. He'd made a vow that he would not end up like his folks, worn to a frazzle as they struggled to maintain some kind of life. The land they lived on was hard. The crops they grew were sparse and tended to die off if you turned your back on them.Jessup's father was a strong man physically, but less so mentally. Each time he had a setback he would resort to the bottle, becoming surly and downright vicious. The rest of the family was often on the receiving end of Anson Jessup's hard fists. That went on until Seb's eighteenth birthday. Tired of being knocked around like a straw-filled dummy, he'd decided to fight back. He drove his bullying father to the ground, his solid fists leaving the man bloody and beaten. For the first time in his life, Jessup's simmering rage gave him the strength to overcome someone. It would not be the last time that happened. It was his last day as part of the family. After putting his father down, he went inside the house, packed his few belongings in a bag and walked away. He never looked back.He spent the next five years in the army. For a boy who had spent long days working the hostile land on a dirt-poor farm, army life was easy. All he had to do was follow orders, and he was given three meals a day, a bed to sleep in and a wage. When he heard other recruits grumbling about the hard life, Jessup had grinned. They knew nothing. He'd kept his head down. He was a quick learner, and he quickly gained promotion. The day he was made corporal was something he was quietly proud of.He was eventually shipped off to the Middle East and saw a side to life he'd never even thought about back in West Texas. He witnessed killing and destruction. Experienced his first action and found himself facing the possibility of his own death. His training kicked in and he accepted that he either put it to good use or he was going to die right there and then in the midst of the dust and flies and the rattle of gunfire. He was promoted to sergeant. He met Cole Hatton while he was in the war zone. They clicked from day one. And when the chance arose, they teamed up in a partnership that would follow into civilian life. By the time they were sent back stateside, Jessup and Hatton were considerably wealthier than when they'd first put on uniforms. The army was bringing in vast stores of goods to keep the American forces fed, clothed and armed. It was to be expected that some of those supplies would be diverted. Jessup found a way by bringing in one of the civilian contractors the military was using. Siphoned-off materials were flown back to the States, using the contract aircraft that were coming and going on an almost daily basis. Jessup started small, not wanting to attract attention, and that, coupled with the money he was pulling in from deals with the locals for food and clothing, all added to his growing cash balance. While Jessup provided the brains, Hatton became the partnership's muscle and backup. He handled any problems that might interfere with the operations. He did it well. He was direct and dedicated, with a persuasive manner that told anyone getting in the way that it would be extremely advisable to step aside. They set themselves up back home, building their criminal business with a dedication that would have been the envy of any hardworking entrepreneur. They operated out of a midsize community called Broken Tree, in cattle country. It was a tough town in tough borderlands.Nine years down the road and they were established as the major player in the region. Jessup had connections across the board. He'd bought and paid for influence in high circles. He ran his organization with a hard hand and took no crap from anyone. His name opened doors, his wealth bought him the rest.He had his world by the balls. Saw himself as untouchable. Out of reach. A big man in a big piece of country. One of his most lucrative ventures involved bringing illegal immigrants across the border. Mexico provided plenty of people who were eager to enter the US, lured by the promise of work and money. The promises came true, though they weren't as clear-cut as the immigrants had been led to believe. Money, yes, but the expenses incurred when they were brought to America were taken from their paychecks. If they protested, they could be exposed to the authorities. That could mean jail, or being sent back to Mexico. There were times when Jessup's enforcers would hand out physical persuasion. The Mexican laborers were just another product, as far as Jessup was concerned. He bought and sold them. Had the power to make them disappear if the notion came to him. There were plenty of lonely and desolate places in border country where bodies could be, and were, made to vanish.Jessup believed his most recent enterprise would prove to be even more lucrative. He'd met with Ramon Mariposa, the jefe of A La Muerte, an offshoot of the Sinaloa drug cartel. Ramon Mariposa was looking for a US distributor and Jessup had been interested in growing his presence in the drug trade.Mariposa had learned Jessup was a solid, wellorganized man who ran a thriving business, and the jefe also needed a steady supplier of weapons. The drug cartels were in a violent, ongoing war with competitors and Mexican law enforcement. In a brutal business, A La Muerte was way ahead of its rivals. Mariposa operated with total, unflinching violence. He saw no reason to do otherwise. His need for a reliable supply of quality ordnance was something Seb Jessup could manage easily. In the end, it was a marriage of convenience. A two-way street. Mariposa and Jessup's relationship was beneficial to both, workable and problem free.Until Hermano Escobedo started to rock the boat.Rocked it with such ferocity that Jessup, for the first time since he'd faced combat, experienced fear.He maintained his cool in front of his people, while inwardly feeling sick. Not because he was about to cave in under the threat posed by Escobedo, but because he realized for all his power, influence and wealth, he was still vulnerable. Jessup might have been resistant to threats against his security, yet he saw the shadowy possibility that his empire could be badly damaged—even brought down—by the young Mexican. Escobedo was the unexpected threat, the one coming out of left field. And he just might be capable of knocking Jessup off his throne.Hermano Escobedo obviously felt he had justification, a good reason to strike out. Otherwise, he wouldn't have placed himself in the firing line. In truth, Jessup could even sympathize with the young man's motivation. But he still had to stop him.If Escobedo brought his evidence into the light, Jessup could face life in prison—or even execution. He understood the penalties, and despite his position of power, realized he might conceivably pay the price. He was going to have to play this one carefully. Hatton had broached the subject, pointing out that Jessup needed to keep his distance. No hands-on punishment this time—which pissed Jessup off. He had always been a hands-on participant. But his partner was insisting he lie low."We do this smart," Hatton said now. "Pull in outside help, give them the details and turn them loose.""Not our boys?" Jessup asked."Nope. We stay clear. I talk to them, they keep me informed. We fund this with cash. Nothing written down, no computers—only disposable phones. Seb, we can pull this off. Take the bastard down and wipe out the evidence. With nothing to hang on you, the law is going to be pissing in the wind.""Trouble with wind, Cole, is that it can change direction."Hatton shook his head, a grin on his lips. "You were the only grunt who could make a joke with bullets flying over your head," he said."What can I say, buddy?"Hatton levered his rangy frame out of his chair, pulling his phone from his pocket. He held it up as he walked to the door. "Today's burner," he said. "I'll make the call. Bring Candy in for a head-to-head. We'll get him on the case and set him loose on Es-cobedo.""You figure that chili popper is going to make trouble, boss?" one of the remaining two crew members asked."He's going to try," Jessup said. The other man said, "If Cole sets Candy on his ass, that boy isn't going to have another minute of peace. Hell, Seb, you recall when Candy went after that sucker down Nueces way? He had that done and dusted in a couple of days. No one ever found that feller's body.""That's the way I want it with Escobedo," Jessup said. "Gone."Hatton stood on the wide porch fronting the big house, speaking into his cell."I want you to drop everything, Candy. This is important. Wouldn't offer it to anyone else. You sort this out for Seb and it'll be the best payday you ever had.""He got himself in a bind?" Candy asked. His voice was low and slow, a homegrown Texas roll."Sort of. Candy, this needs clearing real fast. No mistakes.""Kind that needs a shovel to finish it?""That kind. Dead, buried, forgotten.""My specialty.""The Meat Wagon in an hour. Okay?""Fine," Candy said, and hung up.The Meat Wagon was a diner on the west side of Broken Tree that had been there for more than twenty-five years. The aluminum siding had weathered, the metal dull and pitted, but the painted sign had been refurbished recently. The original owner, Hoyt Dembrow, had died a few years back and the diner was managed by his son, Hoyt Dembrow Jr. Junior was over fifty and looked it, so the youthful title didn't do him any favors. The man liked the food he served in the diner, sampled it every day. His ample size showed that.As Hatton stepped inside an hour later, the familiar smells of coffee and fried food hit him. He liked that. The Meat Wagon was a piece of stability in a rapidly changing world. It had no offshoot truck franchise, no menu with fancy food catering to dietary needs. It served American food, period, and that was the way Hatton liked it.He spotted Candy at the back end of the diner, facing him over a raised mug of coffee. At this time of day there were only a few other customers, and Candy had picked the table farthest away, leaving an empty stretch between him and the other eaters. Hatton's boot heels clicked on the metal floor as he made his way over, stopping to speak to the owner en route."Hello, Junior. Coffee?""Sure enough, Cole."Hatton took the offered cup and joined Candy, dropping his cowboy hat on the table beside him. Candy watched, not saying anything, as he pulled a thick envelope from his jacket and slid it across the table. Candy picked it up and lifted the flap, flipped through the thick wad of bills inside and nodded briefly."Down payment," Hatton said. "Usual terms.""You paying for the food, as well?" he asked. "Don't I always?"Candy's lean, weathered face showed a thin smile. He was a six-foot-three whip of a man who dressed like an out-of-work line rider. He raised his hand and summoned the waitress, ordering a big steak with all the trimmings. Hatton went for his weakness: a stack of pancakes with syrup, bacon and a couple eggs on top. While they waited, Hatton pulled out some photos and showed them to Candy."Hermano Escobedo. Son of a bitch is ready to drop the hammer on Jessup. He has evidence that could see Jessup locked up for the rest of his life. Or worse.""And Seb, naturally, don't sit comfortable with that."Hatton handed over a folded sheet of paper. "Everything we have on the guy," he said. "Ain't much. He came over the border a few years back. He's legal. Set himself up doing all kinds of hands-on work. We took him on account of he's got a green thumb and does a tidy job. You know how Seb likes his place looking homey."Candy drained his coffee and signaled for a refill. "Jessup want his body delivered—or just vanished?"Hatton let the question hang for a few seconds."Hell, Candy, what would we do with a body messing up the place?""Just needed to clarify the situation.""Well, it ain't hard. Find him. Put him out of his misery. Bury him in the desert and keep the shovel for a souvenir."Candy smiled. "Hey, why'd you not say it was easy as that?"Hatton made no comment. He knew the way Candy operated. He might make light of the deal in conversation, but in reality he was a professional who made people disappear. He gave off the impression of being a good old country boy, when he was, in fact, one of the most coldhearted men Hatton had ever come across. Candy took pride in his line of work, employed the very best and never, ever walked away without completing a contract. They fell into light conversation until their food arrived. Eating became the most important consideration after that, neither man saying very much until they were done."When you catch this son of a bitch you need to look for his cell phone. He filmed Jessup. If the law lays its hands on it…""I get it," Candy said. "Don't you fret. It's as good as done.""You know how to contact me if you need to," Hatton said. He finished his third coffee, pushed his plate aside and stood up. "While we were deciding how to deal with this, I set a couple of our boys on the job.""That's fine," Candy said. "Give me the word if they find anything."

Plenty of action, with his skills pitted against typical hoods, in the wide open stretches of Mexico. All to save one person that decided to stand up to the bad guys. Unusual task for Mack Bolan, executed well as always.

She can't believe that Ian Lockwood is wanted in connection with a terrorist plot, and she's determined to find him and help him clear his name. But she's not the only one looking. The FBI wants him captured. The bad guys want him dead. Ian just wants to stay alive long enough to save thousands of innocent lives.

This book was fulled with suspense that kept me up late into the night, I didn't want to put it down because I just had to know what happened next and considering I had to work the next day that tells you something right there. I took out ten chapters a night which landed me at ending the book in four days and most likely, it would have been read even faster had I not had to work. Throughout the book the main characters, Ian and Jackie, were running for their lives as the back of the book states. The constant game of cat and mouse really entertained me. It reminded me of the cartoon "Tom & Jerry". The mystery takes you on just about every ride you could experience in a suspense novel. You never could guess what was going to happen next. This was the first book I have read by the author and I will be reading more from her. I really did enjoy this book. There are two other books in this series so everyone who reads this knows, personally I didn't read the first two before this one, reading them isn't a must but I would recommend it because some of the characters from the other books were included in this one and I found myself wanting to know what happends in their story but as I said, it isn't a must. Everything made plenty of sense to read it as one book and not a series. What I loved about Jackie's character, even though she didn't have any faith at all in God at the start, shewouldn't abandon her friend, Ian. She stood by him and helped him fight it out until the end. (Whether it is a bitter ending or not, you'll have to read it to find out.) I really liked the story & the characters as well. I personally would recommend it to anyone who loves a good suspense novel, though one thing I have to say is, if you are sensitive to shooting and yes, killing, this might not be the book for you because there is both. I didn't mindit but it depends on the person. All in all I give this book four stars! I received this book from Revell Publishers for my honest review, which I have given. I was not required to write a positive review and have not been compensated for it in any way. All opinions expressed are mine.

Enticing but don't expect deep spiritual truths By reader No Place to Hide by Lynette EasonWhen I picked up this book I realized it was called a romantic suspense book but it was also listed as a Christian book. I was shocked at how much violence was in this book. True it was tuned down, not a lot of gory detail but still violent. People get shot in the eye, a whole family with mother, father and teenage children are killed point blank. Even that bit of detail for me is too much violent detail for a faith based book. The murders kept coming in this book.My other bone to pick with this book is that God is not brought into the picture until near the end of the book. And even at that point the references to Him are not fully developed. For example one character asks, “Why did you hold on to your faith and I didn’t?” I found the response rather flippant: I guess it’s just different personalities.I felt this book was an exciting thrill ride but lacked the moral fiber to hold it together as a spiritually uplifting book. The main character asks some good questions about faith and trusting God and who God is. But I found the answers given to her lacked conviction and substance. In real life if I were given those answers I probably would not pursue looking into Christianity. It was also unfathomable to me how the one character was portrayed as having a strong faith and walk with God and yet he proposes to someone who still barely offered a prayer. And her prayer was offered during a life threatening experience. Prior to that prayer she was still bitter, doubting God, had not surrendered her heart to God or begun a relationship with him. The Bible speaks of being unequally yoked and this book just moved too quickly and unrealistically from point A to point B.In short: Yes an enticing, entertaining read but don’t expect deep spiritual truths or “aha” moments in this story.I received this book free from the publisher and was required to write a positive review.

Fans will want to read No One to Trust and Nowhere to Turn though. NO PLACE TO HIDE is different, in that neither Jackie nor Ian are police or FBI (though Jackie is a former officer). Different, in that the hero and heroine are the ones running from the police—and they are wanted for terrorist attacks and murder.Ms. Eason is a very talented author. The writing was stellar and I can’t imagine the amount of research that went into this—and Ms. Eason’s brain-waves must be interesting to study as she came up with this detailed, scary, biological threat romantic suspense. I knew who some of the bad guys were, but when I though I knew who the top person was, he was taken out… so that left me starting over trying to figure out the master-mind behind it. And when it was revealed, I was surprised. The faith message was weak, the romantic tension between Ian and Jackie was weak, but the threat and the fear were tangible. I was almost freaking out during the black moment. I think I might be afraid to go to sleep tonight…If you are a fan of romantic suspense, you might be interested in NO PLACE TO HIDE.
