We Didn't Know is a work of fiction, revealing the consequences which can occur when family members are estranged or don't even know they're related. Synopsis: So, you have family that isn't your blood and blood that doesn't act a bit like family. Typical wouldn't you say? Throughout our lives, we adopt many as our kin and treat them accordingly, while disowning our own blood and treating them like strangers. Our reasons, are our reasons, right or wrong. King Carter and Serenity Washington are two young adults, preparing to leave home for college who happen to meet by chance. King wasn't looking for a serious relationship and Serenity had recently broken up with her boyfriend of the past 5 years. Their attraction to one another however could be compared to a moth being drawn into a flame and before they know it, they're Dangerously In Love. Typical you might say. But what isn't so typical is the unknown brewing between the two which will burst at the seems when their parents, who are thought to have no prior knowledge of one another meet at a dinner planned by the two to announce their big news! Betrayal, secrets and lies, we've all had our fair share of them all. Those who say, "What you don't know can't hurt you," have obviously never been hurt by what they didn't know...

The suspense of what wasn’t known and who didn’t know it will leave you on the edge of your seat. I truly became entangled in the stories of both King and Serenity. However, nothing could prepare me for what was to come. The love story will leave you captivated. The betrayal will leave you enraged. The secrets will leave you perplexed; the revelation of what wasn’t known will leave you with your mouth wide open in disbelief. Marie Antoinette brings to light the importance of family and forgiveness. Once you have finished reading this phenomenal novel, you may find yourself in deep thought; you may find yourself wondering if this could actually happen to you too. Marie Antoinette totally destroys the saying that “what you don’t know can’t hurt you”. Quite the contrary, what you don’t know could be devastating!

"We Didn't Know" commanded my full attention from the first few pages. I was hoping to read at least a third of it before putting it down. I found this book to be so suspenseful to the point of wanting to put it down for a few seconds to look for someone on "TheBook." It's funny how a well written book is capable of pulling you into the pages as if you were truly one of the characters. I did not put this book down for good until I had read it in it's entirety!!! Oh What a Night!!! Why not treat yourself to ""We Didn't Know?" You deserve it!!!

By maureen Loved the different vignettes and love how Marie keeps pushing the boundaries but always staying real and never afraid to truly tell it like it is. Very different from her first and clearly shows how much she has expanded in her story telling. Highly recommend this book especially for other white folks like myself who truly want to understand what the true experience is growing up black under insurmontable odds and still face so many obstacles to this day.
