Author Interview

Q: What's so special about the Cypher Theorem Series? A: It's a high technology society, that has magic everywhere. There is a device that each person wears from birth called a HaLO (Haptics, Linguistics, and Optics). It connects them to an altered reality network, where overlays are used to enhance everyday living. The main character Vernon Douglas thinks he's a regular guy but finds out he anything but. His constant internal struggle of dealing with his powers, or lack of powers, keeps pushing him forward. He dreams of becoming a Paladin, which is basically the prestige military group for the Astrum Government. The series is going to follow Vernon and his friends as they grow, and become part of society. Vernon is going to find out the special circumstances to his birth, and how that will affect humanity.

Q: What order should I read the books in?A: -The Zero Class-Shadow Moon-Dragon Fire-To Be Announced(Coming Soon)

Q: Why should readers give this series a shot?A: it's an action packed ride with a mixture of technology and magic, which I like to call magitech. There's fighting, spell casting, and some mystery thrown in for good measure. If you like any of that, you'll love the books. Also It can be read as a stand alone book. And thanks for reading!

From the Author Book 3 was a bit of a turning point in the series for me. Shadow Moon was originally made to be a short story, but everyone that I gave it too wanted more of what was going on. So I made it longer and told the story of Vargas, who was also on the ship, but no one was originally supposed to know. It was going to be its own short story, but it felt right to tell them side by side. Anyway, book 3 was the story that I have been thinking about since the very first thought of the Cypher Theorem series of where the story was going to start. I obviously opted for a different start point, but still, I knew this book was going to be exactly what I wanted, and it turned out even better than I had hoped.

About the Author Welcome to my author page, and thank you for coming! My whole life I had a large imagination. When I played, with my Legos or running around outside with my friends, it wasn't just playing. I was in a different place, I was making worlds. I would dream up stories and settings, where I would normally be the lead, or at least be looking through their eyes. Playing video games was a normalcy for the escape into some uncharted and untold world where adventure awaited, which fueled my own creations.Insomnia had been a problem for me most of my life. This was another area that I was able to fill the space with waking dreams, praying that I would be able to get to sleep. It wasn't till I met my wife in July 2011 that I really started to contemplate what I wanted to do with my life. She was able to show me how happy I could be, just by coming into my life. So I figured that I could, and should, do that for my professional life.I started to read more books. I had been a visual entertainment consumer for much of my life, even though most of my gaming consisted of role playing games, of a heavily text base nature. Not having the visual feedback was a different feel. I liked it.It wasn't until after reading a few self-help books that I started contemplating what made me happy and how I might be able to turn that into a career. In August of 2012 I had a long conversation with my wife, who was supportive of the idea, and I started to write.Want to see more, come to my website for more at markbrandonpowell.comWant to get emailed instead, sign up now and I will email updates to you!Just copy and past in to a browser:MarkBrandonPowell.com/mailinglist
