We're seeing some real growth from Hunter and Elly: Elly with her new powers, and Hunter dealing with...well...Hunter stuff. The side characters are becoming more complex as well, and there are as many tragic threads as lighthearted ones running through.This doesn't mean that it's not appropriate for Middle Grades. If anything, it makes the book (and series) even better. Start with the first book (I think it's permafree) and keep going. You'll love it!!

We return to find Hunter and Elly as they are about to start another year of Seeking training. For people that are reading this review and have not read the first two books in the series, Hunter and Elly moved to a mysterious estate after the death of their parents, that is home to the Secret Seekers Society. A group of people who investigates and capture creatures and artefacts that most people believe to be things of legend. But it is not all smooth sailing, an ex Seeker has made it is lives work to destroy everyone at the estate, he has started his own paranormal group and will do everything in his power to wreck havoc on those he thinks have wronged him.This instalment of the series brings with it more action and adventure that I have come to expect, we are also introduced to some new students, cousins Tully and Symphanie. The excitement levels are high at the beginning of the year as the children find out that they are allowed to go out on their first official field trip as part of their training to become Seekers. The trip is to investigate the mysterious sightings of a creature called a Wendigo. It is a creature of urban legend and believed not to be real, but what they find on their investigation is extremely real and extremely dangerous.There are some good side plots to the story as well that involve Hunter and Elly's Uncle Joe, who is confined to a wheelchair after saving the children's lives in a previous book. Also, their other guardian Margot and her fiancé Sebastian have their own troubles. There is also the added dramas of Elly's new gift, at the end of book 2 she slipped on a ring to save one of her friends' lives and now she has a connection to the afterlife.A great read as usual, I look forward to reading what happens next with Hunter, Elly and their friends.

The Wrath of the Wendigo By Theresa Atashkar Not many books that aren't murder mysteries keep me reading late into the night, and this book is one of the exceptions! The Wrath of the Wendigo is by far the best in the Secret Seekers Society series!Elly, Hunter and all their friends are growing up and in their second year of their "enlightenment" training to be a seeker. They're all going on a field trip with Olivia and Allister's dad's. There have been lots of sightings recently of the Wendigo monster and it needs to be checked out.What happens while they're out hunting is all something for you to read about! I was thoroughly engrossed and things just kept happening, not just on their field trip but also back at the mansion! I hope Mr. Hickey has book #4 written, I'm not sure I can wait very long! A great book for all ages!
