I don't think I knew exactly what I was getting msyelf into when I opened it, but I was pleasantly surprised as it not only met, but exceeded my expectations with every page.With a great plot that keeps moving forward, this book isn't just steamy scenes and a delicious view into true submission- it's also a really great fantasy read.I truly enjoyed the erotic scenes, the amazing way the authors put into words the feelings and sensations involved in total and complete and entirely consensual submission.But it's so much more than that. This is not a story about a weak woman and the strong man that takes her as his own. The Warlord's Concubine shows the strength that can be found in the pure dedication of a woman and her love.And let us not forget the love story! I truly enjoyed watching the characters develop and grow in their relationship.I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a hot read, a great story, and has a taste for the world of Dominance and submission.
25 of 29 people found the following review helpful. Dark, Extreme, & Violent, but Definitely Worth Reading. Such A Fantastic & Unique Storyline! By DLong This book was a love and hate kind of read for me. I hated some things about it, but the story was so unique and different that I was fascinated by it and was eager to find out what happens in the end. I hated the whole man worship thing, the painful, rough sex, and the implication that women are of less worth than men. At the same time, I loved how someone who grew up being powerless and mistreated became someone great, well-respected, and powerful in a very believable manner. The way Mirella's life played out was quite fantastic.I debated a couple of times about whether to toss the book or not, but the plot and story kept me reading it; it was just too different from the normal plots that most authors repeat when it comes to paranormal or supernatural fiction. The uniqueness of it and the deviation from the normal in how the romance plays out and the storyline makes it worth the read. The story is a bit rough...dark and extreme in some ways, so if your not into the whole rough sex thing like I'm not, then you might want to consider reading a safer book. I recommend it though for the plot and storyline. It is a powerful book and it truly holds one's interest. It is also realistic in the sense of how war can be, especially when a castle and people is taken over..women are usually placed in the same position as the characters if they aren't killed immediately, so it is a painful reality, and the author brings it out in a very classy way that makes you believe that real people have lived similar lives as these characters. I highly recommend this book :)
10 of 10 people found the following review helpful. Fun, sexy original story By Tanilen Mirella is the handmaiden to a spoiled princess who is much younger than herself. She has come from a hard life and has had to work and fight for everything she ever got, unlike her privileged mistress. But when the barbarians sack their city, kill the king, and take the princess captive, it all turns around for Mirella.The handmaiden is captivated by the mysterious dark leader of the invaders, and sees in him something worth worshiping. But his position as new ruler of the city is tenuous and hinges on getting the princess to willingly marry him before his forces are crushed by the armies of the Empire.There is a lot of sex in this book, and well written, but there is a lot of plot as well. Mirella becomes devoted to her God-King and schemes to aid in him winning over the princess, as well as helping him defeat his opponents, both inside and outside of the city.I enjoyed the hell out of this book, and I thought Mirella was a fascinating character. There was some interesting world building going on as well, but that is one area I wish the authors could have done more with. They through out some interesting ideas about witches and the roles women played in the invaders' society, but it felt like they rushed over some of it to get to the good parts again.Still, I heartily recommend this book if you are at all interested in reading erotic fantasy stories. It's a great value, and if you purchase it right now, it's on sale for only .99. You have nothing to lose at that price.
