Dick Swiveller, the wittily named park ranger who is by turns both ill-tempered and kind, Winston 'Franzia' Weatherby, the only wino Swiveller knows who really drinks wine, One-eyed Rita. . . Fern. . . One-Beer Bob. . . these are just some of the memorable characters who inhabit Jerry Wilson's stories. Drawing heavily on personal experience and with keen eyed observation of the human condition, Wilson writes about broken lives, the dispossessed, those who are unwanted, who go unnoticed, and yet somehow manage to survive. This is an America that will be immediately familiar to anyone who has seen the photographs of Dorothea Lange or read Charles Bukowski, John Steinbeck and other chroniclers of the underbelly of America-only the years have moved on. There is anger in these tales. . . humanity, love, humor and compassion too; but what makes them really special is the maturity in Jerry Wilson's writing that marks him as a new and necessary voice in American fiction.ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED UNDER THE TITLE YOU DON'T LIVE HERE, THIS NEW EDITION INCLUDES THREE ADDITIONAL STORIES AND AN INTRODUCTION BY THE AUTHORJerry Wilson was born in 1961 in Boise, Idaho. He dropped out of high school at age 17 and joined the Air Force. He was discharged a sergeant four years later. Wilson has a B.A. degree in Psychology and has worked as a dishwasher, cook, concrete finisher, jackhammer operator, orderly in a psychiatric hospital, scrud in a wastewater treatment plant, janitor, truck driver, grocery checker, day laborer, fine jewelry salesman, casual postal carrier and as a park ranger for the Boise parks department. He has two daughters, Amanda and Declynn, and a grandson Max.

By Tikuli This new edition has a new title and three new stories along with the others that appeared first in Jerry's book 'You Don't Live Here'. Jerry is the new emerging voice in American literature that needs to be recognised. He has immense control over the characters and the prose is simply fabulous. The stories revolve around park warden Dick Swiveller and the microcosm of vagrants that the author encontered in his daily life as a park ranger in Boisie, Idaho. An unforgettable bunch. A beautiful and important aspect of the book is the deeply profound love and compassion that runs through its pages as an undercurrent. In the midst of all the challenges and hardships the characters face the affection and care the yshow for each other is commendable. Says a lot about the author too. This is the real America beneath all its gloss and for the first time there is an author who is giving it to you as it is. Those who loved the first volume 'You Don't Live here' will certainly love this one too. Go get your copy today. I assure you it is a book you won't regret buying. JW is a brilliant writer and if you love the writings of Bukowski and Steinbeck then here is your chance to read something that will remind you of them.I loved reading it and recommend it to everyone and I mean Everyone.

I had read the first 2 chapters before Goddess Fest, and last night I picked it back up and couldn't put it down until I read the last page! Your book is a ship filled with deep and moving commentary on the human condition that gets you aboard and does not let you disembark until the last word has been said. It was Spiritual in many ways as I read about all the individuals within...including Dick. It was both sad and humorous...heartfelt and sometimes...gross...LOL...AND NOW,....I hold each one of the characters in the book in my heart, and my prayers! I teared up when Weatherby passed...and I am certain he is now a park angel. Thank you for sharing so much.
