Casey Weidenfeld, is a student, a golfer, studying for her Bat Mitzvah, and extremely creative.The book is about hard times in young peoples lives, and how their friendship with one another keeps them going and when you meet Fallon the main character you immediately start rooting for her. The author pulls you right into all the characters lives and virtually makes you part of them. As you read one page after another, it is truly amazing that the author is so young and if this is the kind of writing Casey can do now, all we can expect in the future is best sellers."The Golden Flares" has many people struggling with their lives, very young people, and as you turn one page after another you find yourself cheering them on. The book will not make the New York Times best Seller list, however is a memorable start for this young lady, Casey Weidenfel writing career.I sincerely think that Casey will go on to great things and I for one look forward to any new novel she will write. Casey 's book is extremely readable.I highly recommend that all Middle School and High School libraries include "The Golden Flares" in their collections.

A fantastic novel by a young author By Allison Naumann "The Golden Flares" is a beautifully written book that is sure to keep you rooting for its rebel protagonists long after the final page has turned. The author snatches your attention instantly, pulling you into the minds of her elegantly crafted character crew as they struggle to survive.I commend such a young author for creating such a captivating story! Though her action scenes can a bit jumpy and could use better clarification and description, the overall story won my heart. I hope to see many more novels from this wonderful young lady in the future as she continues to hone her skill in writing.

I always judge a book by how long the characters stay with me as I read the story and even after I finish it. Over the time that I read the book, I found myself thinking about the characters, what happened to them and what would happen next. That is a sign of a good story! If you like dystopian novels, this is a good one with some interesting twists and turns. The author gives readers a look into a young girls world as it is turned upside down, how she struggles to survive and protect her friends. I think older elementary, middle school and even adult readers addicted to young adult fiction will love it!
