Let me start with the title , "Finally Home" , (spoiler alert), 99% of the book was getting home. Why not just make this part of the last book ? I swear I read an exert that "now they must defend their home", but "Home" only came in the last few pages .Second , it became a political agenda for the uni-bomber , where it became OK for a 12 yr old to shoot unarmed, tied up men and women because they did not like them . The author changed the nature of the series , by making the hero Nathan (sheriff and Registered Nurse), who I could relate to because I am both as well.( I actually told many people to read the series) ,into a murder of innocent people , and even worse , teaching children to murder people (men , women , pregnant women , and other children of all ages) because he suddenly became too stupid (unlike previous novels) to avoid them or to simply talk his way out.It seems that the author suddenly became angry at the government and decided to ruin this series by turning this book into a way for him to vent his rage. Or, to live out his fantasy to kill indiscriminately .I usually love this type of novel , and love the weapon speak and gear talk , and don't get me wrong , I love a shoot-um up book where everyone is shooting and dying for a cause , but this was something else and I didn't like it.Read it , make up your own mind , then write a review.

Spoiler alert. This one starts with Nathan and his band still on horseback heading for Utah. Its been quite a journey and the horses have proved to be worth their weight in gold.Jasmine has been trying to get close to Nathan. A Nathan who's twice her age. A Nathan has ignored her other than as a friend and teammate. Jasmine isn't giving up though.Jasmine also knows how tired Nathan is. She and the others do everything they can to take some of the load off Nathan and do their best to get him to take a day just to sleep. Nathan is in a hurry to get home though and only takes a night off every now and then. The others know that a tired Nathan is a Nathan who could make a mistake at the wrong time.Ares and Athena have also proven to be worth their weight in gold. The two German Shepherds have proved invaluable in locating and warning of danger long before that danger can make an appearance. And of course Ares will rip the throat out of anyone who's a threat to Nathan.Nathan is still teaching survival to his group of kids. All are eager to learn and do whatever they can to help around camp and on the road.So begins another great read by Watson. This one has Nathan, Jasmine, the baby Emma, John, Amanda, Casey, Tom, Natalie, UN and foreign troops in America, a US Army and American patriots fighting these troops and those doing the Presidents bidding, FEMA Camps, Homeland Security, a Homeland Security trying to take everyone's guns, a another stray, this one a five year old boy, that Nathan takes in, Mel, Greg and Stan farmers Nathan gives advice and information to, empty houses with doors kicked in, large dogs shot dead, people hanging from trees, whole towns gone, trucks full of people headed North to camps, fighting going on all over the country, a radio Amanda is listening to and transcribing from that tells Nathan what's going on in America, a biker gang that kills and rapes, two more horses added to Nathans string of horses, a rancher named Bart and his son who's on the radio giving the truth to those out there, an ambush where two of Nathans kids are shot, the men behind the ambush, dune buggies, the release of the horses and Nathan and his team using the dune buggies to finally make it home.Five Stars and then some.

Nathan, Jasmine & the kids are who we all hope to be in any life situation, whether the apocalypse or just everyday struggles in life. Kudos Thomas for another great series!!!!
