She held onto that guilt like a security blanket. That guilt helped her be someone who didn't really have friends. Someone who was engaged to a lousy man. Someone who ran away from her hometown and her sister. Then things happened, and she had no where else to go, but to her sister's and her hometown, her past. I didn't like this character until people like Justine, Manny, Peter, Richard, etc., along with two huge dogs, brought out the Jennifer who was hiding. This book had parts that were harsh, sad, and annoying, but it also had sweet, funny, and loving moments.

However, the author had to put in a very graphic description of masturbation which didn't add anything to the book - in fact it detracted. I won't order anything else from this author.

The characters were so well written that I felt like they were people I knew. The FBI agents banter and quick wit made you feel like these men were really partners. I loved the attention to detail in this book. Sometimes when you read a book things are put in there to get the story from point A to point B and you are left wondering "I wonder whatever happened to". I thought it was a great touch to know what happened to the grandmother after her car was returned. I loved getting to know the main character, Jennifer. You really felt like you were going through her journey with her. I cannot wait for the next chapter to find out what happens next!
