I LOVED PROGENY and all of its literary references, the character development, the oodles of history nuggets and the fast pace - once the book finally got going - it did take while - like patiently waiting for an elderly relative to get to the point when s/he is in no hurry to do so. The author took even longer to get the story started in REMNANT despite an action-packed beginning. I kept waiting for the book to get going and get interesting and it NEVER did. I was so disappointed. I realized after finishing this book that I couldn't care less what happens to these characters any longer - they and their creator have fallen into the rabbit hole.

Action-packed maze of twists and turns By Lawrence Enright This sequel to Progeny is an action-packed maze of twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout, as Jackson, Hunter, and Paul, left behind after Osiris' exit in book 1, try to figure out what exactly has happened to their alternate Bermuda. In their adventures, they cling to the hope that there is a way off the island and back to reality, but there are plenty of nasty obstacles in their way: giants, demons, other stranded humans, each with his own purpose and each very dangerous. If you liked the first book in the series, you'll love this one.

I gave it this rating because it held my attention right from the start. It was exciting and the characters were likable. I could hardly put it down. Although I felt the ending a bit abrupt and wanting more answers and closure. Hoping it means another book.
