His command of language is undeniable, but it's his ability to convey the darker, more sinister aspects of his story through tone and style that make The Hunter so remarkable. Like the best writers, Dominic isn't afraid to take risks, to challenge his readers even as he takes them through his story. There are fantastic elements at work here, but with them Ward paints a stark and unflinchingly grey reality. This is an excellent book by an excellent writer.
