I had to keep reading, turning page after page until the final word, and what a final word! Holy!!! This book has so much to offer, we follow Angelica as she is living a good life, having overcome some bad from her past. She seemingly has it all, she's living in New York in a great brownstone, her gay best friend is the exact perfect bestie a girl could ask for. Then she runs I to Blake. This man is absolutely gorgeous! Everything about this man screams panty dropper! He is smooth. Blake brings out feelings in Angelica that she's never felt before. Blake wants something more with Angelica, but she can't forget the hurt that she's been through in the past. There are many aspects to this book, there is one key thing I will be leaving out of my review so as not to spoil, but it is something else! Will Blake be able to get through the safety walls that Angelica has put up in self defense? Will Angelica let him in, or push him away? This author's writing is so good. The plot was thick, at times unexpected, fraught with emotions, and the characters are so well written. They are really real. I look forward to the next read from C.S. Jacobs! I was given a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Foley I really liked the title.Angelica is a 20-something urban (NYC) professional who comes from money but doesn't want to rely on it. She literally runs into Blake while jogging, but refuses to give her name... then a few hours later she's forced to tell him when she's pitching him as a prospective client. So there's your meet-cute. And that's about the most interesting part of this book. She has a horrific past, prone to anxiety, was never shown any love by her parents, makes terrible choices -- this chick needs therapy stat!Blake is intensely into her and that's off-putting even from the reader's perspective yet they still can't keep their hands off each other. But they seem to have some stuff in common so there's more to the relationship than lust. But she's also really good at pushing people away... and for once in these novels where the heroine has a tragic past there's demonstrated good reason for this. She has a gay BFF, a wealthy step-grandfather from Texas (although I don't understand the "step" part or why it's important) and no female friends (interesting but not explored).Sadly, the author's approach to this story is cliche. This is simply written, with little character development -- sorry, a horrific past does not make for good character development. There are also loads of inconsistencies in the spelling of character names, poor grammar, detail inconsistencies....Blake has a brother whom he hates, but yet has positive things to say about him... say what? This is a cliffhanger, so don't get your panties in a twist about it.

Jacobs. The book starts off introducing us to Angelica. She is living in New York City and lives in an amazing brownstone. She runs into (literally) Blake, who is an investor and has the manners and grace of a saint. I love his ways and soon he sees Angelica and wants more. Angelica is very closed off to relationships, she has been hurt in the past and is happy with her life. She has a wonderful gay best friend (or is he) and he fills the gap that Angelica needs.Life as she knows it starts to change when Blake wants more from her. Her internal dialogue tells her not to take a chance, but day by day Blake starts to wear her down. There are some great emails throughout the book and these help Blake to break her walls down little by little. There is a dark part of this book and I will not reveal because that will spoil it, but needless to say it adds to the intrigue. The ending leaves us asking more questions about what is going on with Angelica and I for one, cannot wait for the next book in this series. I will be stalking the author to find out when it will be released.I give this book a well-deserved five stars, well done C.S. Jacobs and congratulations on your debut novel in this series.
