Sparks An enjoyable story of a family in the south, set in the 1940's and 1950's. There is a doting mother, Elizabeth; an abusive alcoholic father, Edward; music prodigy and clairvoyant son, Jimmy; and an adorable daughter, Elizabeth's only saving grace in this unhappy marriage is her love for her children. Seeking a divorce would be scandalous but, she makes plans to do so until Edward is severely injured in an automobile accident, and then is institutionalized following a nervous breakdown. Joy and happiness abound while Edward is away and Eluzabeth's plan for divorce is back on track! At last, Elizabeth succeeds in achieving her goal, and the future looks bright and promising and then tragedy strikes.. Worth the read!!

Incredibly Moving Characters Will Keep You Engrossed By Tracy Wasem The story centers around a mother anchored to an abusive husband with little means for change. Elizabeth has a gifted son and daughter who give her the strength to overcome her dire situation through hard work and determination. The characters are well developed and the story is an important one of life in years gone by in the South. Jimmy, the gifted son is the catalyst for change in Elizabeth's life.In its attention to detail, readers are allowed into a story that will make you smile, cry, and become angry all within its text. Beautifully written and engrossing. It's a must read.
