By Itsuki Kaede The continuation of Kazuma Kamachi's 22 novel series!This volume finds Touma Kamijou discovering a secret about Mikoto Misaka, also known as "Biri-biri-girl:" she has clones of herself! However, it isn't for personal satisfaction like one would think--it's all for a plan, to "level up" another esper, known as "Accelerator." Now, as Mikoto and Touma find themselves locked in a deadly one-on-one battle, for the sake of the Misaka-clones' freedom, who will come out on top?!The novel, just like any other light novel series, depicts some scenes differently from the anime, or may include scenes that the anime did not. Because of this, there are surprises around every corner!

Sisters Arc By MK We are now at the 3rd Volume of A Certain Magical Index.This book covers the 'Sisters Arc' which, for those who have watched and read Index and Railgun, is quite familiar. I'm sure people familiar with the series have seen or read it numerous times, but not the original work.Diving in, I was rewarded with the usual benefits of the light novel format in that there are details not covered (whether it's from the story content or characters point of view) in the anime or manga, which made it more motivating to read. One particular thing that stuck was the description of the deaths and fights, which were far more graphic than depicted in its other mediums. For example, early on there's a scene in an alley where the narrative describes the state of the dead body in full detail going a step further than the previous volume. This again is quite a shift in tone and separates itself from the anime counterpart, which more or less censors it. However, this isn't a negative as it perfectly displays what the antagonist of the book, Accelerator "One Way Road", is capable of and like.Without spoiling too much, Mikoto as a focus means there are more scenes with Kamijou and Mikoto. The relationship between the two changes over the novel and Kamijou has some really cool scenes during the course of the book like the iron bridge scene. It drives home the point of how cool he is and how much of a real hero he is. However, my personal star for the book is Little Misaka/Misaka 10032. Kamachi successfully makes you feel for the Sisters and their plight.The translation is good as always and I don't understand the 3-star rating over the lack of biri-biri but to each there own.By the way, the afterword is a very interesting read. I learned something new from Kamachi and bit about him.

With no real magic involved this time around, it truly is a story about science and the espers in academy city. I was happy to see that the scientific side of the story isn't overshadowed by the magical side. Also it's a steady book that first keeps you entertained with comedy and some insight about academy city, then it picks up with some more serious topics. over all it's a good read and it's nice to see other characters getting more development and not just the main characters. this series never lets me down and I enjoy reading them. A fun book to read with the perfect balance if comedy and serious topics!
