It has been my aim to set down only such facts as would be of practical value to an owner of such a farm and to state these facts in the plain language of experience. This book is in no sense intended as a final scientific treatment of the subject, and if it is of any value in helping to make the fruit department of the general farm more profitable the author will be entirely satisfied.The facts herein set down were first learned in the school of practical experience on the writer's own farm in Western New York. Get this book if you have an interest in creating an orchard and love apples like I do. You won't go wrong. I was curious as to the content, but find that even though it was written a hundred years ago, it is still relevant in core content. Often the only things that change are things that should have been preserved. This is true here. Growing apples is growng apples; I have no interest in the giant Ag industries ideas of how to do it....spray and poison technique! To boot, it is a most interesting and lovely writing style, uncommon today.
