From page one, it sucks you in and won’t release you until you’ve finished the last chapter. Through all the ups and downs, it just speaks to your heart and you feel like you know the characters. For me, that book was Garrett. It was such a bewitching blend of sexy dirty talking with beautiful heart and soul. I loved that I felt every emotion while reading Garrett; I laughed, I cried multiple times, I swooned over Garrett’s sweetness and his dirty mouth. This book is an amazing love story that will make you appreciate life, love, and the people you surround yourself with.I love when my hero isn’t a tortured as$ and Garrett was a perfect blend of cocky as$ and sincere gentleman. He has a known rep for being “The King of the one night stand” but it’s not because he’s deeply disturbed or anything… he’s just a guy sowing his wild oats, who hasn’t met “the one” who would have made him settle down. He’s funny, he’s flirty, and he’s wickedly good-looking. When he sees Olivia for the first time, he’s smitten. It wasn’t insta-love and I applaud Sawyer for not making him seem over the top in love right off the bat. I liked the flirty banter and watching them get to know each other.Olivia was refreshing as our heroine. She’s flirty, funny, driven, and easy-going but she’s got a lot on her plate. So much so, she just wants to live and be free and enjoy life without worrying about consequences. So when Garrett hits on her, at first she declines him because she just can’t imagine getting involved with anyone, let alone a player like Garrett. But as her new reality sets in, she decides to let herself live… to enjoy the delicious man with his cheesy pickup lines. It’s a good thing Garrett can’t get her out of his head and decides to pursue her because their easy chemistry quickly turns deliciously hot.Neither of them anticipate the kind of connection they’ll have but after one date, it’s pretty apparent that a one night stand isn’t going to be enough… This is where Garrett broke the norm, he didn’t agonize over wanting her again, he just went with it. He followed his dick (and his heart) and asked for more time and even though Olivia agrees, she’s got this secret that’s eating her up inside. I loved that he didn’t fight it, didn’t obsess over wanting more, he just wanted to do what felt natural and it really allowed the reader to get fully immersed in the feelings and the connections. It’s doesn’t take long for Olivia to be forced to reveal her secret and I wasn’t sure how the rest of the story was going to go… but let me just tell you, Garrett will always hold a special place in my heart for how he handles things. He’s all in and his heart and soul shine throughout the rest of this story. The supporting cast of characters were brilliant throughout. I loved getting to see Sutton and Alex again (from book #1 in this series) and the addition of Stevie just made this book dazzle. The way Sawyer brought real life situations into this story and allowed it to be something that bonded Garrett and Olivia to each other was both heartbreaking and beautiful. And the epilogue… damn, that epilogue had me in tears and just warmed my soul.Out of the two Cold Fury novels, Garrett is my definitely my favorite. In fact, before I read Garrett, Uncivilized was my favorite Sawyer book. I think Garrett may just have beaten it out. This one is definitely going on my favorites of 2015 list. 5 stars.

I also loved the first book in this series, and have already preordered the next in this series. Having said that, this was just not as great as I had hoped. I'm a little tired of the man whore see's a girl and has to have her resulting in instant love. I always wonder when the relationship gets old, and it will is he going to cheat. I had a really hard time with the illness aspect of the book. I probably sound shallow but I read to escape I just don't want the reality of sickness to get in the way of reading. And I just cant believe a college graduate would not no what an oncologist is. I know that's a bit nitpicky of me, but with as much cancer awareness around. I just can't believe it. I also can't imagine going through all that treatment and being that sick while having all the sex. Everyone I know who has had cancer treatment has been so sick. I guess that is why the whole cancer aspect bothered me so bad with the steamy sex. I was just thinking does she feel ok. I would definitely still tell someone to read this book, you might like it.

Not as good as I'd hoped By roxyrolla Thank you to Loveswept Publishing via Netgalley for the free review copy in exchange for my honest opinion.Did I like this book?Meh...I don't know. It was okay. The thing is, I'm getting really tired of the same old storyline when it comes to romance. It seems like every second book features a "man-whore" (and I really hate that word, by the way!) who is blindsided by the oh-so-special girl who is the only one who can make him want to change his ways. I suppose this does happen in real life, although I can't think of one instance where it has, at least with people I know. Possibly I don't know that many man-whores (men-whores?). Anyway, doesn't matter. My point is, this storyline has been done repeatedly, it's old, it's not fresh, everybody stop writing these books! Or maybe I just need to stop picking them...There's nothing inherently wrong with this book, nothing that really got my goat, but there is a lot of "smirking" and "eye rolling" going on. I didn't count, but it was enough for me to notice, and it's things like this that separate the wheat from the chaff. The characters were actually quite likeable! I didn't think I'd like Garrett from the first page - oh great, one of "those" guys! - but by the end, he'd grown on me a bit. Olivia was great - she wasn't whiney or annoying, and considering everything she was dealing with, she certainly had every reason to be. Her character, for me, is the most memorable part of this book.As for the hockey, it could have been baseball or football for all it factored into the story. I expected the hockey aspect to add something fresh and interesting to a tired storyline, but in this I was disappointed. However, I found that Olivia's illness succeeded in this area, being handled quite well and keeping the plot from being too typical. So yeah, things I liked and some I didn't. Kinda places "Garrett" in the middle of the pack. Will you like this book?I'm not sure. This book has a relatively high rating and it seems like I'm in the minority, so you just might like it more than I did. I guess it depends what you're looking for, but I have others on my list that I'd recommend first. Will I read more by this author?Probably not. I wasn't impressed with the writing style, which is too bad because the next in the series is about a character who could have a very interesting story. My rating: 2.5 stars
