The good guys lurking in the background only seem to need a little encouragement to come forth and help save the day. While it does not guarantee the survival of any of the characters it allows hope for even the not as upfront heroes. I think it allows you to put yourself into the situation and see what would happen. Just fun.

So you have a reference some of my last favorite author are DH Aire, William Brown, Thomas A Watson, Mark Henwick, Mark Harritt or Michael O'Neill.I really would like to know when the fourth book is going to be released.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Still on the trek, but an exciting trek By Ronald Q. Smith The best of the "Jord" books so far. While it is still just a "trek" story, the characters are spending more time actually thinking about what they need to do and then trying to do it. They start in the middle of a trek and end still on the trek with quite a ways to go. They do start to actually take control of their destiny and try to make themselves actually independent rather than just trying to escape trouble. That made me like this entry in the story the best so far.My major comment is really unrelated to the storytelling. I do hope they end up in a place where they can arrange for a lot of interaction with other humans. They say they are looking for isolation to allow them to have the kind of progressive society (yes, this is a very liberal view of what the world should be) that they want. However, if they don't get a couple of thousand unrelated people (parents and children, siblings, even first cousins all count as one person), they will lose in the long run. They will become too interbred over a few generations and start to die out due to physical and mental disabilities. Geneticists say that 160 completely unrelated individuals could be successful but only if there were strong rules about who could have children with whom. For a freer society, you would need at least a couple of thousand. You don't have to have a city/town of a couple of thousand if you have lots of options for spouses outside the community. It will interesting to see if they get to that kind of state and how they will then retain their society as they hope it to be.
