3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. A wonderful little read By Amazon Customer A wonderful little read. Ms.Drinkwaters protagonists are always direct and to the point. Bam! A love interest blooms. Bam! A bad person gets his comeuppance. Her prose is sensuous and dreamy. I WAS in the south of France and hated to leave. Enjoy A simple act of kindness.

I thoroughly enjoyed this suspense filled story of a young woman escaping a bitter, violent marriage. She finds solitude and hopefully safety in rural, northern France. Carol Drinkwater's descriptions of the French countryside are so vivid and alive that the reader feels as if he/she is there, This is a poignant, tragedy laced story that keeps the reader engrossed. It is a great read anytime but I especially enjoyed it on a cold, damp autumn afternoon. Thank you Carol Drinkwater.
2 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Excellent Writing! By Readsalot Carol Drinkwater is obviously a seasoned writer, so there isn't anything I can say that would make a difference. But I do echo another reviewer regarding her descriptions of the French countryside. They are awesome! Great read, but the few 'F' words were not necessary. Surely with the author's vocabulary there are more intelligent, descriptive words.
