I was fourteen, he was twenty-eight. I was a failure and the black sheep in my family. He was the Dutch billionaire every girl wanted to marry. I wanted him to be mine, but he was dating my older sister. And so I tried to forget. I tried to stop loving him. I tried, but it just kept hurting until I realized that nothing would work. Nothing…except learning how to live without Willem de Konigh. This is Book 1 of Willem and Serenity’s love story.

I love the cover, but then I noticed there are two books to this series. Get this... seems they have both been released on the same day. Book one at a whopping 69 pages for .99 cents, and book two at (I believe) 91 pages for $2.99. Why do authors have to do this? Just make this into one book and sell it for $2.99! This is getting ridiculous! **Sigh** I'm not sure if I'm going to read the second book at all now. Maybe I'll just return book one and get my .99 cents back because of this injustice...

Yes it is a little taboo, but that's what made me want to read it even more. Plus I'm digging the cover; no half naked men for a change. Ya!I really liked Serenity and she showed a lot of determination for someone so young and for what she has already been through. It would have taken taken a great amount of self courage to do what she did, and then have to rebuild her life again in a new place.Willem, on the other hand was a mixed bag for me. Some spots he was a real gentleman and other times I just wanted to punch him for been so blind to the truth. Even his sisters could see what was happening. The dual POV was another enjoyable aspect, even if it was a little hard to follow who's was who's sometimes. There are also a few time jumps in this story; while not hard to follow I did have to be weary about them. I didn't like the authors' overuse of the words 'dutch billionaire'. I just started to get on my nerves a little.Oh! But that ending! OMG! How could he just do that after all this time?! Book 2 here I come...

(Let's just say it wouldn't be Marian Tee without it). -_-'Serenity's had a hard life, but I love the way she composed herself and handled everything despite her young age. A little reserved, she sparks an interest in Willem that he brushes off as something akin to paternal care, like the care he gave to his younger siblings. Seeing a heroine as a child and young woman was so refreshing and interesting. Not so much hot and heavy romance yet, but more of a blooming care of affection. And who doesn't love fated love?Willem was a gentleman with issues locked away long ago, and his hand in Serenity's few years as a young lady was fun to read. I just love the way they cared for each other without it being so- er, un-platonic? It was an especially yummy treat since I read a series prior to their love story, so this was more of a background story to catch me up on why they were the way they are.I recommend this story because it was sweet, clean and carried a steady pace.
