I loved the book & it was even mor interesting as I had been to many of the places she refers to in this book. It is a book I coul dnot put down & in fact finished in 2 days. I recommed this book, as a great summer read/

By sunfish I especially enjoyed this book because I grew up admiring the beautiful old mansions in Galveston as a frequent visitor to fish and to play on the beach. Now I feel as if I know someone who lived in one of them. Rose was a character to be admired. I found myself wishing that I had known her and had found her favor like some of the characters in the story. It was a believable story with just enough twists and turns to keep it interesting but very real.

Like Young's other work, there's a lot of information on survival techniques, though this book focuses more on the stages after a PA event. This was interesting. The events are nukes, EMPs from the nukes and finally, the Yellowstone caldera. Young has all his bases covered!The narrative flow is marred by some typos and continuity errors. Yukons (the vehicle, PLURAL) is constantly spelled "Yukon's" the possessive. Other vehicles are all correct. At one point, Killany is called Killian, and late in the book, Major Tandy becomes Major Taylor quite a few times. There are a few other typos but except for these, nothing too annoying. Still, an enjoyable read. Not the best book but still 5 stars.

This one has really bucks ($) up characters but the story handles that well. I liked the first part and the set up better than the climax's but it was all good. Well worth the money!!!
