This was a game changer for me and I have been devouring books in this genre ever since, alien-filled or not. I loved author John Williams' debut novel, "Wormhole Moon", because it was a non-stop adventure for me that had elements of suspense, romance, and so much more. The story of the interaction, and conflict, between Earth and an alien race after a wormhole is discovered by two wayward astronauts. There isn't much not to like here with the global implications of this discovery. Looking forward to a follow up for sure.

From the Author Writing this book began as a labor of love from the beginning. I was in a season of my life where I was encouraged to take a full inventory of who I was and what abilities that I had. I remember many years ago, I believe in fourth grade; my teacher gave us an assignment to write a story. It had to be one that was original. So I did. It was a short Science Fiction story. I turned my story in for a grade. About a week later all the children got their graded stories back except me. She did not give, in my mind, an adequate answer as to why.   Most kids my age had a toy box. I had, a book box with books about planes, space, animals' books of every kind that my mom bought for me. My mom asked me if a certain book was in my box. I told her no. In fact she asked me several times. Same reply. Apparently my teacher called her to verify. I got my paper back from my teacher with my grade: "A." In essence, my teacher thought that I had plagiarized one of the books I had at home when, in fact, I had not. Fast forward to a year and one half ago, I thought to myself, what if I have been honing my writing skills since forth grade, where would I have been by High School and beyond?     So, that said, I sat down once again to write a compelling story. After many years of being in the aviation industry, having read thousands of books and having had many experiences, I give you: "Wormhole Moon." It is the first of a three book series. "Wormhole Moon" is complete departure in comparison to the previous books that I have written. However, my desire for great research and attention to detail is still very much woven into this book as well. I wanted to create something that Sci-fi enthusiasts would truly enjoy and at the same time, draw in readers who may not necessarily read a Sci-fi novel. In essence, I just wanted to write a great story.I hope you enjoy it as much as I have enjoyed writing it. Thank you for your support and considering my first Sci-fi novel. - John Williams

I have always been a huge Micheal Crichton fan and haven't had the ability to burn through a book since his last work. John Williams does an amazing job of creating some awesome characters and keeping the action flowing. I enjoyed the cultural creations and customs of the three other races. I wish that he would have gone into more depth on the ships and the science behind the way they travel. Perhaps this and other parts were intentionally left out by the author to let the readers creativity brew? Thank you for the awesome read! This was the first time I have ever flown on an international flight and not watched a single movie!

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Engaging Story By Kelly F. I am a big fan of science fiction books, especially imaginative and intellectually stimulating ones like this one. The plot centering around an idea of wormhole that is a portal to an alien civilization was really thoughtfully elaborated here and I liked how realistic and well researched it was.The conflict depicted in the story has kept me on my toes the whole time and the characters and their interactions were thoughtfully written. Definitely one of the better SF stories out there that I’ve read lately, I would highly recommend it.

By K.Mager In this first of the series we meet a central cast as they meet each other. Filled with awkward moments and plenty of funny lines, these characters are humans against a terrifying force. As the main characters grow closer through adversity, we are taken into the circle to share. I will continue to read this series as long as it runs. Having read the second, The Rosewood House, the characters continue to grow and the supernatural is unique to the house. Looking forward to number three!

To be fair, while I was reading this book I felt that this book was written for a younger audience since there were some grammatical errors and a lot of repetition and the storyline was really predictable but that didn't stop me from reading the whole book. I found the book to interesting even with the errors and I found it hard to put down after I had been drawn into the book. It took me a few hours to finish but it was well worth it, the ending was repetitivie but interesting nonetheless. Overall, this book was a good, quick read and you should definitely consider reading it.I was able to receive this book in exchange for my honest, unbiased review and I hope that you will consider purchasing a copy after reading my review.~Luv2dance

American Bitch is a divorce, revenge comedy. With Laredo, Texas providing the backdrop, the story chronicles a couple's tumultuous relationship as it crumbles into disunion. Born in Laredo, Texas in 1958, Raúl Casso is a lawyer and a writer. Beginning with a monthly column in a local magazine, Raúl wrote articles on biblical skepticism and metaphysics for two decades which led him to expand his writing endeavors culminating in this, his first novel. Other works are underway.

When not writing, Raúl enjoys playing ragtime piano. Happily married to his wife Nahyr, who works hard to allow Raúl the free time to so indulge, Raúl Casso is the father of five boys: Raúl, Alexander, Andreas, Philip, and Sebastian.

A Brilliant New Novel By Kingzi Raul Casso has created a full-on masterpiece, on par with Hemingway and Faulkner, interwoven with the modern satire of a Bret Easton Ellis.American Bitch is a robust, affectionate chronicle of one man's journey through the pain of marriage, divorce, infidelity, hypocrisy, lies and desperation. Written with unfailing precision and beauty, American Bitch stakes out new territory different from the writers I noted above to whom Casso could be compared. It’s all at once both insightful and entertaining, edgy and poignant, and grippingly funny. In a lesser author’s hand, the book could’ve become a mangled mess as the layers of estrangement between the main characters unfolds, but the story, as told through Jethro’s unique voice and perspective, reels you in from the very beginning. The quality of the writing and the sincerity of the characters’ struggles to redeem themselves carry the book through to an unexpected conclusion.And woven into the main story are the amusing side characters who give contrasting perspectives on events and enlarge the hectic Tex-Mex canvas that Casso successfully paints. From Publishers Weekly Though often associated with the Beats, Gysin, English by birth and Canadian by upbringing, was an idiosyncratic and restless spiritual wanderer, a jack-of-all trades who made innovative contributions to poetry, prose and the visual arts with his inventions such as the cut-up (employed most famously by William Burroughs) and the "Dreammachine," the first art work that one viewed with the eyes closed. (Though it never caught on, Kurt Cobain, among other celebrities, owned one.) But Gysin was never one to exploit his works for prestige or financial gain, and he took such pains with projects like his second, and last, novel, a chronicling of the Beat Hotel (the Paris flophouse they frequented) called The Last Museum, generously excerpted here, that it only appeared posthumously in 1986. This volume contains poems, songs (many have been set to music by saxophonist Steve Lacy), Gysin's screenplay based on Naked Lunch, incidental pieces like his introduction to a cookbook by the Moroccan painter Hamri, aesthetic statements, 18 illustrations, and short stories about his life in Morocco that are rendered piquant by the tones of intrigue and the comfortable proximity Gysin had to Morocco's Muslim culture, back before it became a rite of passage for Beatnik wannabes. This is a valuable book that makes accessible an artist too long considered a cult-eccentric, arguing for an engagement with life in which one grasps constantly for the spiritual in art in a time when frontiers in time, space, and formal experiment lured with their promise of adventure. (Jan.) Forecast: This release fills a crucial gap in the historical record, and should do well on campus as it gets adopted for 20th-century art and lit courses. Bromberg Gysin's work is so overlooked (and so hard to find) that he's assumed the reputation of a cult-figure within a literary movement his work helped create. Here, together in one volume, are excerpts from his most important writings. "To Master, A Long Goodnight" (a biography of the man who was the basis for Harriet Beecher Stowe's anti-slavery classic "Uncle Tom's Cabin"), published in 1946, is included along with his script for Burroughs's "Naked Lunch," written in the 1970s. There's a revealing selection of his cut-ups ("The Third Mind," a Burroughs collaboration); songs, set to music scores by Steve Lacy; as well as gallery notes and art from the 1960s. There are also five chapters from "The Process," the novel that synthesized much of Gysin's philosophy of belief, magic, art, and drugs in the service of self-discovery. Editor Jason Weiss has done a terrific job linking these disparate sources into a coherent whole without leaving the first-time reader feeling as though he were on a guided tour. The book is a great starting point for anyone interested in learning more about the roots of the beat generation.

A great starting point for understanding Gysin By Terry Borst Embracing the totality of Brion Gysin's output and influence was essentially impossible prior to the publication of this book. Weiss's study of Gysin's work and his long friendship with the writer/musician/visionary results pays off: opening the door to creative and intellectual explorations that continue reverberating to this day.

About the Author Michael Z. Williamson is retired military, having served twenty-five years in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force. 88 of 93 people found the following review helpful. Great Story Great Science By Dr. Nik If you've read the other reviews, you've probably gotten the idea. This is a departure from Mr. Williamson's previous oeuvre. But, it's a delightful one. It's a different kind of story with a different kind of purpose, and left me impressed with his versatility.My background includes graduate work in paleoanthropology so it is usually with some amount of dread that I pick up an alternate timeline novel that deals with pre-agricultural hominids. As you can imagine, errors stick out as particularly glaring when you're as close to the subject as I am.Instead, I walked away impressed that an author who I've enjoyed for his guns, diverse characters, and open views (not to mention his sense of humor if you follow him in social media), had put such attention into the details of the science and archaeology of the relevant ancient time period.I found essentially no errors and an impressive amount of clearly carefully researched detail into everything from stature and life history to local species as well. As if that wasn't enough, he even advanced some novel theories about how early Homo sapiens interacted with the world that I found not only interesting, but eminently plausible.This is an author, already appreciated by many for his storytelling, showing new depths that certainly surprised this reader.I've heard the book described as 'slow'. Slower than his other work perhaps, but about appropriate for the amount of work being done. Not to mention, the pacing echoed the travails of the protagonists and I felt did a nice job of bringing us into their world, which was both full of tedium and danger all at once.The characters were also wonderfully diverse, including men and women from multiple ethnicities, in a way that never felt forced but rather crucial to the story. It all makes sense in the end.In short, this book was prehistoric fiction done right. I can't wait to read the next one.

Believable Time Travel By Amazon Customer The interactions between the various time traveler groups are completely believable, the story is entertaining, and the characters are well developed. The amount of research and knowledge of the various time periods that each of the individual time traveling groups came from is impressive. His portrayal of low tech survival techniques, paired with believable starting tools for the protagonists, is equally impressive, since it manages to avoid breaking the willing suspension of disbelief. You might need a little luck to get all the right skills in one small group, but it would only require a little luck, as opposed to a deus ex machina.In addition, his portrayal of interactions in a small military "unit" cut off from the US rings true (not surprisingly, given the author's own military background), something that many other authors fail to manage.

I got the EARC (Electronic Advance Reader Copy -- see also, "Baen has crack dealers in their Marketing Department") as soon as it came out a few months ago. I scored the hardback a couple of weeks ago, directly from Mike.As other reviewers have said, the pacing is a bit more deliberate than some of Mike's other stuff. I also found the characters a bit tough to track. That said, I did really like this book. I'm keeping track of all my 2015 reads, with a view to next year's Hugo nominations. This has potential.One of the features I really like about MadMike's writing, is that he goes out of his way to know as much as he can about whatever topic he's writing on. Going to the Paleolithic? Let's try a recipe for Caveman Chicken. Going to take an MRAP cross-country? Yes, the durn thing is tippy as hell. This book does not disappoint. I likes me some geek-porn / nerd-porn, I does.It's a much more realistic take on a tried-and-true subject than you usually see. A time trip with finite resources and no resupply is NOT going to be "Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court". There will be suckage, but then one cannot triumph without conquering suckage. I never deployed, having spent my whole four years in the post-Vietnam doldrums of Fort Sill. I could still mentally see and feel the scenes in this book, thanks to Mike's descriptions. If you haven't read any Williamson before, try this as an introduction.

Classy reprint of landmark book By Bruce Rapley One of the most important scientists of the 20th century is a little known Indian, Sir Jagadis Chandra Bose. He was trained in England and spent most of his life working in the realm of physics and applied biology, namely botany and plant physiology. His works, sadly ignored largely by the west, mark some of the greatest achievements of the century. He demonstrated wireless transmission before Marconi and created a number of sensitive measuring devices based on optics which revealed the most micro growth movements of plants. He achieve a magnification factor of some 25,000 times, using equipment he had designed and made, with the help of an illiterate tin smith. This work outlines some of his greatest work, the thin line between living and non-living material. This timely reprint is a testament to a remarkable man whose achievements in science beggar belief to this day. While produced photographically from the original text, it still reproduces a quality book written in the unique style of one of our greatest scientists of yesteryear. That such great works are not only preserved, but republished for a new generation to read and enjoy is a tribute to the publishers. Highly recommended for any reader interested in the fascinating history of the pursuit of knowledge. 5 stars.

Very Difficult By Phil Calandra I chose reading this book as the subject matter appeared very compelling, namely the similarities and contrasts between "living" and "non living substance". However, I was only able to get through a couple of chapters and feel that one would need a very extensive scientific background to understand this book. I gave this book only one star; however, this may reflect my own ignorance rather than a true assessment of this book.
