Nick is a man in love but doesn't know how to express himself to Tamyra. While Tamyra is a woman who has been hurt in the past and doesn't trust easily. This book had me hooked from the beginning. Can't wait to read what happens next.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Side chick turned main. Woman scorned. By Amazon Customer This was a good read. Nick is with Calandra who he got with as a rebound because Tamyra wasn't ready for a relationship. Tamyra gets mad and she eventually starts sleeping with Nick even though he has a girl. Calandra finds out and lets just say theres nothing like a woman scorned. However I don't like Tamyra she tries to play the victim too much for me. You pushed a good man away then gets mad when he moves on like he owes you something. You slept with another womans man and then wonder why she hates you. She act like Nick is just to blame. And Calandra is plain crazy.

Cesar sounds like he's the finest man ever I like him lol. I'm ready for part 2 because I feel like Carlos is going to return and CC and her minions done started some ish but Tam is going to get her together

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. It has a good story line By Sandra L Morris I have read several of Brian's books, and this one is one of my favorites. It has a good story line, interesting characters and has his wonderful sense of humor. The only problem I have with this book is that I get to the end too soon, and he always leaves me wanting more. Would I recommend this book to a friend, I would indeed.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Emotional turmoil + complex characters = Great Read! By Katie O'Sullivan Sometimes you buy a book because you love the cover, right? This cover drew me right in. I'm not even sure if I read the blurb until after hitting the "buy now" button on Amazon. So the storyline was a little bit of a surprise to me as I started reading, and totally not what I expected.Which is kind of a theme running through NOTORIOUS.This is not an action or suspense novel, and most of the emotional turmoil is internal or played out on the small screen between two main characters who are broken, each in their own way. The drama comes from the way the two crash together and then slowly blend until you are rooting for them to figure it out already and be happy. The author throws one obstacle after another into their world, and the suspense is whether Kelly and Luke will be able to handle one. more. thing.Kelly Reeves is a gorgeous high-paid supermodel, visiting the small town of Seaclusion (along the Washington coastline) for her big sister's wedding. When she was just starting her career, she posed for pin-up fantasy shots, which remain both popular and scandalous to the small town folk. As in, everyone has seen her breasts in print. She's a regular feature in the gossip rags, flitting from one scandal to the next. The paparazzi follow her to her sister's wedding and cause a scene. She's a notorious, self-absorbed party girl. But that's not who she really is. It's her persona. An act. Her sister understands this and loves her, but the rest of the town? Not so much. Especially not the groom's brother, Luke Tyler. Luke sees Kelly as everything that's wrong with women and the world, and is not shy about sharing his gruff opinion. But Luke is dealing with angst of his own. His pregnant wife died in a car accident three years before, and he can't get over the pain or the hole left in his heart. He sleepwalks through life, wishing he'd died instead. He pretends everything is fine, and puts on an act for everyone in town, with polite smiles that never quite reach his eyes. Or his heart. His disdain for Kelly is his only true emotion.Thrown together with Kelly to babysit her sister's son Tim, he figures he'll grit his teeth and bare it like he does everything else in life. But Kelly has other plans - like helping him heal and get on with living. Okay, that sounds kind of suggestive, which isn't her original intent at all, although there is plenty of heat as the story progresses. The interplay between the two main characters is wonderful to watch, as is the gradual unfolding of both Luke and Kelly from one-dimensional stereotypes to emotional people the reader cares about and roots for.If you enjoy a story with emotional angst and truly wonderful character building, give NOTORIOUS a shot.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Heartbreaking journey we go on with Kelly and Luke By Cindy O Leanne Davis writes such emotional stories. In the first book of the series we met the siblings of John and Cassie and knew these two had some serious issues. This is their emotional journey to healing from extreme heartbreak and finding the courage to face insecurities that have defined who you show the world.Luke Tyler lost his wife and their unborn child and sunk so far into a deep dark depression that his brother moved to Seaclusion to live with him to make sure his not wanting to live anymore did not cross over to reality. We saw signs of the real Luke when he befriended Cassie and her son in the previous book. But it was an illusion; he learned how to let people see what they want to see. When he was introduced to Cassie’s sister he instantly disliked the beautiful fashion model.Kelly Reeves and her sister Cassie had a horrible childhood. Those circumstances made Cassie turn to alcohol and men to ease her pain. The one thing she tried to do through those years was to protect her sister and make sure that there circumstances didn’t taint her. Kelly left home and went to LA and managed to become one of the top fashion models. But the Kelly she lets the public eye see is not the real Kelly. Even though Cassie tried her hardest to protect Kelly there were times she couldn’t and things happened that left Kelly suffering from self-esteem issues that affect every aspect of her life. When she meets Luke she can see he is judging her based on her pictures and things the tabloids have said about her. Kelly also sees through Luke’s façade of making everyone think he is fine.Kelly and Luke are left in charge of their nephew when John and Cassie go on their honeymoon. From here we get to go on the emotional healing journey with Kelly and Luke. Is that healing a smooth process – No. Do both Kelly and Luke keep throwing up roadblocks to prevent that process – Yes. Was it as a reader an incredibly journey from start to finish – Yes. There are two more books in this series and I cannot wait to see what the author has in store for Sarah..

In this book you learn more about Luke and Kelly and what makes them who they are both in the past and present. I felt this one had less twists but was far more emotional. At points I was overwhelmed by sadness & at others I found myself laughing out loud. I can't wait to hear the release date for the next book... I'm hooked!

And, most importantly, never switch sides--because once you're Enhanced there's no going back. Even if you have become the perfect human being. But after a disastrous raid on an Enhanced city, Seven soon finds herself in her enemy's power. Realizing it's only a matter of time before she too develops a taste for the chemical augmenters responsible for the erosion of humanity, Seven knows she must act quickly if she's to escape and save her family from the same fate. Yet, as one of the most powerful Seers that the Untamed and Enhanced have ever known, Seven quickly discovers that she alone holds the key to the survival of only one race. But things aren't clear-cut anymore, and with Seven now questioning the very beliefs she was raised on, she knows she has an important choice to make. One that has two very different outcomes. Seven must choose wisely whose side she joins, for the War of Humanity is underway, and Death never takes kindly to traitors.

Review "This has to be one of the best dystopians I have read this year - If you're a dystopian fan add this to your shelf." -- Birds That Love Words"I really couldn't fault Madeline Dyer... Untamed is a fantastic dystopian survival story, filled with twists." -- The Literature Hub"From the first line, Untamed pulled me in. This is the sort of book that is incredibly difficult to put down... as a person who rarely reads fantasy/sci-fi but grew up with it always on the nightstand, Dyer's book reawakened in me a buried love for the genre." -- Jen Knox, author of After the Gazebo

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Untamed stood out to me in the swarm of dystopian ... By Jeff Cunningham Untamed stood out to me in the swarm of dystopian novels in that it was more intimate in scale. Most dystopian novels I've read have been epic in scale, huge for the sake of being huge, but this book does a magnificent job of remaining small, focused on the core of Seven and her internal struggle between being Untamed or Enhanced.Just enough nuggets are strewn throughout to paint the picture of just how bleak Seven's world is, but the narrative itself never loses sight of her. Her journey is our journey, and it is a satisfying, fast-paced romp -- satisfying in spite of the ending being a clear set-up for the next book. Many in this genre stuff their pages to the proverbial gills, so busy trying to be grand and epic that stories lose focus and things that are supposed to resonate emotionally with readers fall flat. Untamed does not suffer from that lack of focus or over-saturation, and it's a credit to Madeline Dyer that this story never loses sight of what it is or where it's going. If you're a fan of the genre, you'd be doing yourself a favor in reading Untamed. If not, give it a try anyway. You might find yourself as engrossed in the story as I did.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Loved this from start to finish By P. Dunn What a great story. The prose is sharp, and the characters are compelling. I especially adored the heroine, Seven. She is at once strong, determined, loyal, and loving. She sucked me in from the beginning, and I was cheering her on from ever page until the end. The secondary characters were great, as well. Loved the brother, Three. Also loved Corin, the love interest. Corin and Seven try to hide their interest in each other for a long time, but I could feel the sparks between them from their very first interaction. It was really fun to watch their romance play out!Although, to be fair, as much fun as this book is was for me to read, the characters are in pretty dire circumstances. The premise and world of this book is one of the most powerful things about it, and I was endlessly fascinated by the Enhanced and the overarching question: is it better to live a real and natural life untamed, or to live a perfect life albeit with chemically induced emotions? I kept wondering what I would do if I were in Seven's position, and Madeline Dyer does such an amazing job with her description that I could just see these brightly colored bottles of formula in every shade of the rainbow and then some. All in all, a fantastic dystopian tale, and I recommend it to anyone who likes super cool sci fi worlds and strong heroines.

I'm a sucker for a good dystopian and I felt like the world-building here was incredibly well-thought out and inventive. I loved Seven and her struggle to remain an Untamed even while she was being transformed into an Enhanced. But my favorite parts were the sweet, believable romantic ones, something that's difficult to write considering their world is falling apart. The twist at the end left me speechless! I'm psyched to read book two.

Her father is killed on the job,her mother is grief stricken and she is responsible for the whole family. She has been the one to help her father since she was a young girl. Her mother finally gets a job to support the family, she goes to the convent to see about being a nun. After she listens to what is required she leaves. She meets a woman sitting on a bench and they begin go talk. Josephine tells her she is going to Colorado to become the bride of James Roberts a widower with a three year old son, and James has a twenty one year old brother if she is interested. Well both women go to DEnver to meet their future husband's. I was t tell you more about the story but one thing Victoria is more comfortable dressed in men's clothes and that is how she meets William. You will enjoy this story I am sure.

By Ruby Slippers Oh how romantic, Vic really was true to herself even though she compromised from time to time to please her husband.William was a very loving and understanding husband who didn't try to make her be or act the way others thought she should.James, Josephine and their parents accepted and understood and welcomed Vic (Victoria) which truly helped Vic become a very special person to them all, especially after the bear attack.I really liked this story.

Mail Order Bride Western Romance By Artful Dodger The fifth book in Katie Wyatt's Western romance Mail Order Bride Series, Denver Double Disaster, features feisty Victoria 'Vic' Butterworth whose tomboy ways may be the undoing of her! Although very beautiful, she does not make it easy for people to accept her with her predilection for men's attire! I loved this book which was very entertaining and really quite humorous in places.

A reckoning that will destroy them all… Trials, persecutions, false accusations, the Inquisition—for archaeologist and TV host Annja Creed, the current episode they're taping for her show is a fascinating one. But while Annja is filming the last segment in France, a vicious "accident" nearly kills her. It looks to be unintentional…until a man calling himself Cauchon claims responsibility. The name Cauchon strikes a chord in the exceptionally—some might say unnaturally—long memory of Annja's friend and mentor Roux. Discovering the old man's secret years ago, Cauchon wanted to blackmail Roux before fate put the matter to rest. Or so Roux thought. Excerpt. © Reprinted by permission. All rights reserved. On a winter's night Twenty years ago"You have my attention," Roux said. The young man who sat across from him had been insistent, refusing to be put off no matter how many times Roux ducked the meeting. His excuses had become more and more elaborate, but that only made the young man try harder. That dogged persistence paid off. Eventually. The old man had been tempted to arrange the sit-down in a very public space, given the personality type that kind of persistence hinted at. There were some people he didn't invite into his home, but Roux was tired. The search for the fragments of the blade wasn't going well, with what he thought might be the final shard eluding him still, so just this once Muhammad could come to the mountain, or, in this case, chateau. He regretted that decision now. Something about the intense young man's scrutiny was decidedly uncomfortable. It wasn't so much the stare as it was the slight twitch of his lower lip, like it was fighting back the urge to smile. It made his skin crawl. One thing the years had done for Roux was to offer an education in human nature. He liked to think himself a reasonable judge of character. This boy—because that's what he was, really, a boy in man's clothing—was somehow off.So he waited, knowing the young man had something to get off his chest, and equally sure he didn't want to hear it."I thought I might, eventually.""So how can I help you?""I suspect it's more a case of how I can help you." He settled a briefcase on the Louis XIV coffee table that acted as a barrier between them.Roux winced as the young man pushed the case back an inch and thumbed the locks. It was all he could do not to reach out and slap the stupid boy. The table was a priceless work of art; the briefcase was not. "I wasn't aware that I needed any help," Roux said."Then allow me to enlighten you, Mr. Roux." He drew a manila folder out of the briefcase. Roux had seen a million of these over the years. In his experience, they never contained good news when they were hand delivered like this. He sank back into his chair and feigned disinterest. The young man didn't need to know his curiosity had been piqued.Roux picked up the business card the young man had given him when he first turned up at his door. The name was the same as the one in Roux's appointment diary. Patrice Moerlen, freelance journalist. After the seventh call he had done his due diligence and had some of his people run background checks on the man that would have made the CIA envious, and by the time he had finally agreed to the sit-down Roux knew everything there was to know about Patrice Moerlen, and had his own dossier almost twice as thick as the folder the journalist pulled from his briefcase."I saw this picture of you in a magazine," he said, handing over the first clipping.Roux had seen it before. He had been disappointed that the photograph had been published, but it couldn't be helped. The photograph had been taken at a charity event organized by an old friend, and obligations to the social compact necessitated he attend, because that's what friends did. He'd been promised it was going to be a low-key gathering, but the late addition of one of those Hollywood darlings with too-blond hair and an impossibly plastic smile and her politico beau had transformed it into an irresistible honeypot for the paparazzi."Not the most flattering, I'll grant you, but hardly a crime against humanity," Roux said. "I rarely accept invitations to events like that, but you know how it is. Sometimes it's hard to say no.""I understand," the young man said, smiling. "The thing is, seeing it, I couldn't help but think your face looked familiar.""I have one of those faces," Roux said, not liking where this was going. "Isn't that what they say? It's embarrassing sometimes because everyone thinks they've seen me before, or that I remind them of someone else.""Which is what I thought at first. In my line of work I see a lot of faces. So I decided to check, just to be sure.""So." Roux offered a slight smile. "Who did you think I reminded you of?""No one in particular, not some celebrity at least. But I had this nagging feeling that I'd seen you in another picture."He picked the next piece of paper from the folder and handed it over.Roux remembered the picture being taken, even if he had forgotten the joke that had put a smile on everyone's lips a long time ago.The young man picked out the faces one by one."Bobby Kennedy, JFK and someone beside them, a third man, who you must admit bears a striking resemblance to you.""There's certainly a resemblance," Roux said. "But I hate to disappoint you. I never had the privilege of meeting either of the Kennedys."He looked the journalist straight in the eye and lied, daring him to call him on it."That's a shame. But maybe this one is a little more familiar?"Another picture. This one was slightly out of focus, but Roux remembered the night well. He'd forgotten a lot of the others in the photograph, but knew the man on the right—Paul Reynaud, the president of France. It had been taken a few months before the outbreak of World War II. Roux stood behind Reynaud's shoulder. He had been less cautious then, less concerned about being seen in public because the proliferation of cameras was nothing like it was today, and the chances of being caught and remembered from one image to the next were almost nil.Only now Roux had been remembered, and the journalist had followed a trail of photographs into his past and found him impossibly unchanged despite the seventy years between the first and last picture."It could be the same man." Roux offered a noncommittal shrug. He needed something to throw the young journalist off the trail, a conclusive spanner in the works that would destroy his faith that it was Roux in the photograph."I'm absolutely sure it is, Mr. Roux. It's you, after all." He produced another picture, a sepia-tinged photograph of the Russian royal family. Roux was there again. "Do I really need to show you more? I have them. Plenty of them. Enough, I'm sure, to convince you.""I'm not sure what you're trying to say," Roux told him. "You can't possibly think these are all of me? They date back nearly a hundred years. That's impossible.""And yet that's you in each of those pictures, unable to resist the allure of power, rubbing shoulders with the rich and famous. As you say, there's more than a hundred years between some of these photographs and yet there you are in all of them. And, most interestingly, you haven't changed a bit. I would ask you what the secret of your young skin is, but I'm assuming it's not some moisturizer." His smile was more of a wince."A good story, but for one fatal flaw. That's not me in those pictures, no matter how similar the men are. With the billions of people in the world, it's hardly surprising that some of us wear recycled faces, is it? How could it be me?""You're denying it?" the journalist asked, gathering the pictures."I'm simply pointing out that you are mistaken.""And that's your final word?"Roux rubbed a hand over his face, a gesture that could easily have been interpreted as having something to hide rather than simple exhaustion. "I really don't think there's anything else to say." He pushed himself to his feet, indicating their meeting was over. He wasn't about to sit and debate the impossibility of longevity, never mind immortality, with the young man when the only thing he risked was betraying himself with some careless word that would only strengthen his case."Then you'll have no objection to me running the story, then?""What story?" That brought him up sharply. He'd reacted just a little too quickly to the threat. An innocent man wouldn't have barked out those two words quite as fiercely. He forced himself to sound amused. "There is no story.""Perhaps, perhaps not. We'll let the members of the public make up their own minds, shall we? Isn't that the joy of a free press?""I'm not sure I'd call making up some fanciful story anything more than irresponsible, Mr. Moerlen. It certainly isn't journalism."The reporter inclined his head slightly, as though conceding the point. "I'm going to be in Paris for a couple of days. Think about it. I'll leave these copies of the photographs with you so you can go through them at your leisure. I do hope you will decide that you'd like to talk to me about this miracle, Mr. Roux. You have my number."The man got to his feet and held out his hand.Reluctantly, Roux shook it.The more he made of the situation, the harder it would be to brush it aside as some bizarre flight of fancy. People didn't live forever. It was impossible. But then, so much about his life was impossible. He needed time to think about this. It would be easy to pull a few strings and make sure that the story was squashed before there was any danger of it being printed. No one made it to Roux's age without collecting an awful lot of favors owed in the checks and balances of life. It helped that the story sounded utterly preposterous. He stood at the front door and watched as the young man drove away in the small Fiat, white crystals of fog gathering in the night. He could taste snow on the breeze. Maybe not tonight, or tomorrow, but soon, Roux thought. He usually liked this time of year because it was all about the end of things, something he'd experienced so much without having faced it himself. As the fog folded around the journalist's car, Roux made his way to his study and started to make the calls.* * *"You absolute bastard!"Roux had ignored Moerlen's calls and, when they finally appeared to stop, assumed he'd gotten the message: there wasn't a serious magazine or newspaper in the world that would touch the story. A few of the editors had humored Moerlen and admitted that yes, it was curious, wasn't it? But curious or not, it wasn't for them. A few that Roux knew personally had laughed in the young man's face.Roux said nothing.Instead, he allowed the journalist to vent his frustration over the phone. He was doing the man a favor, even if he didn't appreciate it. By letting him get it out of his system it minimized the chances of him doing something stupid. Sooner or later Moerlen would find some small circulation magazine that liked the unexplained and un-explainable, which would buy the story and might even run it, but no one took that kind of nonsense seriously."It's not going to work. You can't gag me, no matter who you know. I'll find someone who will publish this story. The truth will come out.""Look," Roux said patiently. "I don't know what you think you know, but believe me, you don't. There is no story to sell. Let it go. Get on with your life. Don't make an enemy of me, son," Roux said, deliberately patronizing the man on the other end of the line."You think you are so clever, don't you? You think that you have it all worked out. What you don't get is that the whole world will want to know your story. How can someone live for so long without aging? I'm not naive enough to think you signed some kind of pact with the devil, but something is going on. That is you in those photographs. I know it is. I'll prove it.""I'm sorry that you've wasted time on this," Roux said, signaling an end to the conversation, but the man refused to go."Fine. I'll begin my story by telling everyone how I've been muzzled. That makes for a compelling beginning. How someone—you—didn't want this story out in the public domain. That just makes it more interesting, doesn't it? Think about it. The fact that the truth is being suppressed is more interesting than the truth itself. Why would you want this kept secret unless you had something to hide? You can try to ridicule me and make me look like a fool, but I won't be silenced. There are other ways to tell this story. This is the modern world now. Information wants to be free. There are bulletin boards and chat rooms that would devour this type of thing, giving it a life of its own. All I have to do is log in and start to tell the world everything I know. It's not about money anymore. It's about the truth. You've misjudged me, Mr. Roux, if you think that all I care about is money. I didn't turn up on your doorstep trying to blackmail you. I came looking for answers.""And that was a mistake," Roux said, then hung up.Moerlen was right; the world was changing, and changing faster than it had for decades before. It was already smaller than it had been even twenty years ago with the pernicious invasion of television, but now with so many people having access to computers and those machines somehow connecting like some giant message network, it was so much more dangerous for a man like him. This was escalating too quickly. The risk now was that it would slip out of his control. There were strings he could pull, more favors he could call in, but once the story had a life of its own there was no way he could put that genie back in the bottle. And that was what those bulletin boards and chat rooms promised to do.Which meant he had to find another way to stop the story. He needed to speak to someone who understood this electronic world, and the very real damage that could be done if he were to be exposed. There was one obvious choice, but given that they hadn't talked for longer than Moerlen had been alive, it wasn't exactly an easy call to make. The last time they'd been together Garin Braden had tried to kill him. The same thing had happened the time before. A third time and he'd start to take it personally. He dialed the number, but he was forwarded straight to voice mail."Call me," he said, then hung up.There was nothing more to say.Garin—his former pupil—would recognize his voice, and understand just how important it was that they talk simply because he'd swallowed his pride and reached out.He thought about ignoring the situation and hoping the mess would just go away. The more he fought against it, the more obvious it was he had something to hide, after all. But what if it didn't go away? What if those damned photographs led to more journalists banging on his door, asking more and more questions he couldn't answer? He hadn't asked for this life, even if, looking around him at the riches he had assembled across the centuries, it might look like a blessing rather than a curse. All it would take was the wrong person digging deep enough and everything would begin to unravel. The last thing he wanted to do was to have to begin a new life somewhere else. It was getting harder and harder to do that in this era of powerful computers and international cooperation. His world, and Garin's, was in danger of falling apart. He punched a number on his phone again."Mr. Moerlen," he said before the man on the other end of the line had had a chance to say hello. "You are right, we should meet. I will be in Paris in a couple of hours.""I'm so glad you've come to your senses, Mr. Roux. But things have changed since the last time we spoke.""How so?" Roux asked, not liking the sound of this."Remuneration, Mr. Roux.""Ah, so despite all of your protestations, this is about money, then? I'm disappointed.""Don't be. I'm a child of the modern age. The modern age, as I'm sure you have noticed, is an expensive place to live. Let's make it the top of the Eiffel Tower shall we?"Moerlen named a time and hung up.

By Joseph Baneth Allen Just finished listening to "Rouge Angel #54 - Day of Atonement" released by Graphic Audio.Mom and Dad were huge fans of the Rogue Angel series produced by Graphic Audio. We always eagerly awaited the next release of Annja Creed's newest adventure and were avid listeners as we drove about in the van.The action in "Day of Atonement" centers around an incident in Roux's life a little over 20 years ago when a freelance journalist stumbled upon the fact that Roux is immortal.Roux attempts to silence the freelancer by ruining his reputation; but when the journalist attempts a blackmail attempt, Roux believes he had accidental caused the young man's death by chasing him into oncoming traffic.Flash forward to a segment Annja is shooting for "Chasing History's Monsters" - the cable show she hosts - at one of the Inquisition's infamous prison castles. A loose stone plunges free from the castle and almost kills Annja. Then Roux gets a call from a man identifying himself as Cauchon - the name of the priest who signed Joan of Arc's death warrant over five centuries ago.At first Roux doesn't make the connection. It's a very startled Annja who does. It may that someone has stumbled upon their secret and knows the truth about Annja, Roux, and Gauran. Annja asks Roux a very interesting question: "Could there be other people like us?" Implying she may be immortal too - though all three of them can be killed. Roux says "No, there are no others." Interesting how he knows that, and it's not further explored.Meanwhile Gauran is set up to be the patsy for a murder. Annja is drugged and kidnapped. And Cauchon - it's revealed - Spoiler Alert Here - is the man Roux thought he killed decades ago. Cauchon wants his revenge on Roux and he believes he'll have it be performing a weird exorcism on Annja to expel the soul of Joan of Arc from her and inhale it into him. Now, once again, Annja plays bullets and sword - a Wonder Woman motiff - that's never has really been explained in the audio series as to how she discovered that she can use the sword to deflect bullets. We do know that the sword protects her and gives her accelerated healing abilities.Another Great Entry In This Series!Strongly Recommended!Five Stars!

It amazes me that a group of different writers can produce such well wrought stories in a style that suggests one author. Thank you for a number of years of great reading - I gab them as fast as they are produced!
